Camp was listed as games, crafts, snacks and gymnastics fun. Instead children watched tv, took naps, and denied contact with parents.I have multiple concerns with the parents day out camp my five children attended on 12/22/[redacted] My children's ages are 3, 5, 6, 8, and 10. The Parent's Day Out was listed on a flyer we received as a day of fun with Crafts, Snacks, and Gymnastics. My children were all so excited to attend. I expected that the experience they would have would be as the advertisement stated.1. Two of my older children asked to call me at lunch time because they wanted to speak to me about leaving. They asked twice politely and were refused to use the phone. If I would have known they would have been refused I would have sent them with cell phones. Keeping in contact with parents if there is a problem with one of my children is important and I believe I can speak for most parents in that.2. My 3 year old was forced to lay down with no blanket, mat or pillow for an hour in the dark. She does not take naps nor would I ever send her to a camp that would make her do so. We have attended multiple camps with the [redacted] and never have they ever made my children of this age or any age take a nap. The idea of me paying to have my child lay in the dark for an hour is absurd. This was advertised as a day of fun and I did not see nap listed or explained to me when dropping off.3. My children stated they were forced to sit in the viewing room and watch tv when they ate lunch which lasted around 30 to 45 min or half of Finding Nemo. On top of that they were forced to watch Monsters Inc which is another full length film. I would never have sent my kids to a camp that had them watch Any TV. TV is mindless and they can do it at any time at my home if I wish and I don't need to pay someone to put them in front of it. This offended me greatly especially since you had my 3 year old watching tv as well. The [redacted] suggests strongly against TV watching and explains unstructured and structured play is more beneficial for children. That is what was advertised and what I believed I was paying for when sending them to a gymnastics fun day. In total my children watched 3 hours of TV in the 6 hour time they were at gymnastics camp.4. My children stated they asked to do things like the foam pit and other things there was plenty of time to do in which they were refused and told they did not have time or they only could have 1 turn. Obviously to me they had plenty of time and just did not feel like it from my above statement. Watching TV is much easier.5. The advertisement stated that crafts would be done with the children. My children were given a pipe cleaner and a bell and told to "do whatever you want with it". My 5 year old was not given one because there were not enough supplies so my 10 year old gave him hers. Not only was this a lame craft there were not enough supplies for all of the children.6. My children explained that they played games all together. My 8 and 10 year were bothered by 1 game in particular. They stated it was a freeze dance game in which if you did not freeze you were out. Instead of letting the little ones dance on the side because they got out of the game first as expected, the instructor kept telling them to sit on a line and watch the others play. Expecting my preschoolers to sit on a line for 15 minutes and watch others play is unreasonable and just plain mean. Training needs to be done with staff to explain children have small attention spans and if my 8 and 10 year old noticed something was wrong they should have also.My children explained to me that they did not believe the staff wanted them to be there. They felt they were a nuisance and that the staff was just trying to get through the 6 hours. When I picked my children up 2 of them started sobbing and the others said I hope we don't have to go tomorrow.Maybe the camp should have been named Movies, Naps, and We Will Keep Your Kids Alive! That may have been more appropriate for the experience they had.The staff responded by disregarding my concerns.Desired SettlementI paid $125 for my children to attend camp and I am expecting a full refund because of the unacceptable experience my children had and the false advertisement we were lured by.I also paid a registration fee for 3 of the children to attend gymnastics once a week. I am expecting that to be returned also. A total refund of $255 is expected. The staff has disregarded what my children have stated above to be true and they do not feel comfortable attending knowing that they are not honest.Business Response /* (1000, 7, [redacted]/03/12) */Our company addressed the customer's complaints with many inaccuracies on the part of the customer. The information she received was through her children. Multiple complaints were VASTLY EXAGGERATED by the customer. Some didn't happen at all, as staff management personally was there to witness some of the alleged issues. Children 4 and under have a quite time on comfortable nap mats in a quiet room for 30 min to 1 hr, and are supervised by an instructor. Children are asked to lay down and rest but are not forced to sleep. During our lunch time, we play an age appropriate movie for the children's entertainment. Lunch time only lasts 30 mins, however. There is no other movie time. We do crafts in every camp. We are not, however, an art camp and do not advertise ourselves as such. We feel that our crafts are age appropriate and don't take up too much gymnastics times, as we are a gymnastics facility. All campers were grouped in individual age groups, so that younger campers were not paired with older campers. The only time campers are together is at the beginning during drop off and at the end of the camp day during parent pickup. When we addressed the complaints with the customer, our biggest question was; "if our instructors treated the children so horribly, then why did they continue coming to their weekly gymnastics classes for TWO MONTHS after the alleged issues?" If my children were treated awfully by someone, I sure wouldn't continue keeping them with those people... There was no false advertising involved in this incidence. When we stated to the customer that we didn't feel that a refund was necessary, she made multiple threats to multiple agencies. We no longer feel comfortable with these individuals as customers due to their false accusations.Consumer Response /* (3000, 9, [redacted]/03/13) */(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)The camp was not as advertised correctly and no where in my statement did I use the words horrible or awful about the staff. I have forwarded my email correspondence as well. It is important for a business to be truthful and honest to maintain customers. As I had previously stated in an email, my problem was not with the gymnastics instruction, my problem was with the camp or fun day not being as advertised. If I was under the impression the staff and management would be untruthful about the day I would have never let my children return. I was hoping that the experience they had would be apologized for and a refund be made because it was not acceptable.[redacted]I am sorry that you have not been contacted again regarding the previous email. My wife and I have been traveling extensively with our competitive teams since mid-January and have just arrived back from [redacted]. I apologize for the delay once again.I would like to address a few of the issues that you stated in a previous email from the Shopping Day experiences in December:1. I can promise you that your preschool aged child was not forced to sleep, or to nap on the hard floor for that matter. I know this because I personally set the area up for the 2 or 3 preschoolers to lay down. I intentionally set up very comfortable mats for them to lay down. All we asked the children to do was to lay down and rest. We follow the American Association of Pediatrics recommendations for napping or rest time for preschool aged children in a school day. 2. We only play a movie during the children's lunch time or snack time. The time frames that were explained to you by your children were vastly over exaggerated. Lunch time is 30 min and snack time is 15 min.3. I find it unsettling that your children had such an unpleasant experience with our staff, yet some of their current coaches were staffed on that particular Shopping day. After speaking with a few of their coaches, they felt shocked that your children had that horrible of a time. They couldn't remember any unpleasant experiences of note that your children had. Also of note, is that the staff is a very experienced and trustworthy group, and have been with us for years. As far as the issues with the phone, foam pit, and dance freeze, I couldn't even comment because none of the instructors could recall anything out of the ordinary with the flow of the stations... We do camps / PNO's with this logistical structure all of the time, and quite honestly, NEVER have complaints. This is a huge shock for us, not only as partners, but also as VERY INVOLVED program managers. I hope this doesn't damage our service / customer relationship. It doesn't seem to have played a major role in your children's gymnastics classes, as they have been regular attendees since this incident. At this point, we don't feel that a refund is necessary. Once again, I apologize for the timing in returning your previous email. Party rental facility is accessible for the disabled. Was not told in advance of this issue. On Saturday, November 23, 2013, I rented the gym at River City Gymnastics for a birthday party for my son. When we arrived and started unloading our cake and food supplies we were told that the party room was up a long stairway and that there was no other way to access this party room but via those stairs. I am severely disabled with a spinal cord injury and unable to climb stairs per doctor's orders. The 2 workers on duty offered to bring 2 tables down from the party room and set them up in the reception area by the front door. This was very inefficient and crowded. With 15 children in attendance, there wasn't enough room for the food and everyone to sit, much less for everyone to see my son blow out the candles on his cake. Our party was forced to scatter about on the floor and various chairs in the reception area. This was not how I envisioned my son's party to be after spending $200 on a space. When I booked this party, I even informed the person taking the reservation that it would be for special needs/handicapped children. So not only could I not get up the stairs, but several of our party members could not either. No one ever mentioned that the facility was not accessible for the disabled. It is my understanding that it is against federal ADA laws to rent out a facility that does not provide disabled access to all parts of the facility being rented. I am very disappointed in this experience.Desired SettlementI wish to receive a refund for the party as we were not able to celebrate as we should have. I would also like the facility to let people know that they are not accessible for disabled customers or remedy this problem.Business Response On November 11th, 2013, I, [redacted], spoke with Ms. [redacted] about booking a birthday party for her son, [redacted]. I told her how the party works, the kids have an hour of structured play in the gym, then 30 minutes UPSTAIRS in the party room. I proceeded to book the party and took a payment from Ms. [redacted]. She then informed me that her son is autistic, but high-functioning. I asked her that if she would be able to stay near him the whole party and she said, yes. I told her that there would be a couple of coaches in the gym but she would need to stay with her son. I told her we have a party packet at the office to pick up that has invitations with waivers on the back in it and a copy of her receipt. (She never picked up the packet.) I explained to her that each child has to have a waiver signed by their legal parent or guardian to go inside the gym. I asked her if she had any questions before hanging up she responded no. She never came in the gym before the day of the party. She also never informed us that other children would have disabilities. [redacted]I spoke to [redacted], a couple weeks after the party and she never mentioned being unhappy with the party only about the facility access, which we could have had ready for her if we knew she needed it. In fact she raved about the instructors and how much fun all the children had at the party! No refund will be given as services were rendered.Thank you!

They put my 10 year old, who is thin, muscular and able in the same class as the 6 year olds. She is completely unchallenged and bored. I called FOUR TIMES to discuss but no one bothered to call me back.Desired SettlementRefund. She has learned nothing because she's in the same class as 6 year olds. She is bored.Business Response We received Ms. [redacted]'s request for a call and responded the next day. Ms. [redacted]'s phone number that she provided doesn't have an active voicemail system set up. So, obviously there was no way t o leave a message. Over the next week, I personally called 2 additional times and found the same issue. No answer, no voicemail. We checked in our accounting system to make sure that our number matched what she gave us, and it did. We would have loved to talk to her about her daughter's class. She was actually very close to being moved up to the next level class. She only needed to master 1 more skill. All of this would have been communicated to her. We have all of the call attempts made to her documented in our system. Ms. [redacted] came to our facility to cancel classes a little over a week latter and left a pretty "harsh" cancellation note (use of profanity). When we received this letter, we immediately tried to call her again, and got no answer and no voicemail. We then searched our accounting system for an email address in hopes of possibly contacting her that way. We sent an email to an email address she had listed. In the email, we went over all of the previous info, and also requested that another "harsh" [redacted] review she posted be taken down. Some of the info she has said is factually inaccurate. She was not in a class with all 6 year olds. There were 2 six year olds, as well as a range of kids from 10 to 7 years. As you can see, we tried numerous times to contact Ms. [redacted], and would still love to continue a relationship with their family. Her daughter was doing really well in the short time she was with us. Consumer Response (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)It is a completely untrue that I don't have voicemail and that a caller is unable to leave a message. I use this same number for business and receive several phone calls every day, including several voice mail messages. My phone shows absolutely no record of any incoming phone calls from this business. Of course this is also a cell phone, so a text would have sufficed as well. Further, I wanted to make sure there are no problems with incoming phone calls since clients call me on a regular basis, and missed phone calls will impact my income. I have called my own cell phone from other cell phones and land lines - no problem receiving calls, or with the voice mail activating if the call isn't answered. Also, when I called the third time, I was told that no one had called me back because my daughters "coach" was unavailable. I asked if no one else could call me back - really? I was told yes, because she was the only one who knew how my child was performing. When I called back later, the receptionist had ample opportunity to tell me that someone had tried to reach me. It was her understanding that no one had called me back, still, because the coach in question was unavailable. (This had gone on for a few weeks at this point.)Let's make this very clear - at no time was I told that anyone other than the coach could or would call me back, at no time was I told that anyone had tried to call me back, and at no time was speaking with a manager available to me. Lastly, I have checked my email searching for emails from this company and have found nothing. I have queried words and phrases such as "River City" and "gymnastics" and still no results. Nor have I had any emails from [redacted] regarding this matter. I've checked my spam and junk folders and still nothing. In response to this business' objection to my use of profanity. I added the word "[redacted]" above the word "No" on the form where it asked if I would refer this business. They find this objectionable after what we've been through? That's insulting and belittling of how this series of events has impacted our lives. They have hurt my little girl. They made her feel stupid by putting her in the same class with 6 year olds - she asked one of the girls in her class, who told my daughter she was indeed 6 years old. They made her feel completely inadequate and untalented. They gave her NO feedback as to when she would be moving up, or what skills she needed to master in order to move up to the next level. We started attending this business in good faith, with a lot of good intentions. Final Business Response Please see the 2 documents that I am attaching to this response. Included is the email sent to the customer on 9/18 and the cancellation notice where the "harsh" language was used. We dont feel that a refund is suitable for the services that were performed for the customer. The customer's child was evaluated and placed in the appropriate class for her skill level at the time. She also was doing "very" well and was almost ready to advance to the next level class. All I can say about the calls is that management attempted several calls back to the customer. I can say this for fact because , I, personally called. We will not text a customer because it is not a professional way to do business, and also is a privacy risk. We would still love to have the customer's child back in our classes, as she was doing very well.
