I hired River Construction to replace the front door, frame, and hardware to my mother's home as a Christmas present. The home's frame is unleveled and crooked in places. I've used the business to make a repair to the roof in the past and I was confident that they could get the job done straight. The replacement took them over 10 hours to install on 12/23/18 (partially from lollygagging). Four days after installation and payment, the deadbolt somehow became stripped (12/27/18). My family was locked inside of the home with no means of exiting- as the backdoor does not function properly, and my 10-year old nephew had to climb out of a window to unlock them out of the house.

I contacted the Executive Director, ***, to notify him of the error and requested for an employee to fix the problem the following morning (12/28/18). He did not answer my phone call, SMS, or email. Later in the day, around 3 PM I was told by him that he was out of town and that he would return on the following Tuesday (1/1/19) to look at it. I also asked if there was another employee available to fix it because of the additional three-day waiting period. *** avoided the question by not responding via SMS or email. On 1/1/19, the executive told me he would "get to it" the next day. The next day, 1/2/19, I contacted *** to get an ETA of when he would stop by. He did not respond. Later that afternoon, I delivered an SMS to *** stating that I am not satisfied and that I have paid for service that is incomplete. Finally, he responded. And his response was he will fix it the next day (1/3/19).

I've requested a number of times for an itemized receipt and have not received it. The business guarantees a two-year warranty with all services rendered. Without a receipt, the job never occurred. I honestly do not know what the reasoning could be to the negligence. As I stated earlier, I hired River Construction in the past and was satisfied with the results. This time, I've been hoodwinked out of $140

Desired Outcome

Refund I would like a refund for hardware and door frame installation. The business overcharged me for wood trim materials and incompleted the project.

The customer had a lock that was faulty but only faulty after it was installed because it was not an expensive lock and it was a lock without a brand name on it. The complete job was installed correctly and properly the whole entire way and the job was done correctly 100% and the customer loved the work before we even left the jobsite late that evening. The customer called me a couple days later saying that the lock was spinning and something was wrong so after we checked it out, we came to the conclusion that the customer has bought a lock that was not durable and the walk itself was broken and the walk was also purchased by the customer. This situation has nothing to do with the contractor but yet everything to do with the customer buying hardware at his or her choice. The contractor did nothing wrong in this situation and we even helped the customer install the new lock and we did not charge the customer for having to go back over there for a reason that was not our fault. This whole situation was completely not the contractors fault because the contractor did not buy the lock and the customer purchased the lock for us to put on the door. We did so and it worked fine before we left in the lock broke a couple Days later, so the customer I was thinking that we installed the lock incorrectly, But after we remove the hardware the customer then noticed that we installed the lock properly and the customer also noticed that the lock was broken from wherever The customer may have bought the hardware for it. This complaint was made due to the fact that the contractor did not get out there immediately the next day because it was the holidays and everyone was out of town and also the customer was thinking that The contractor did something wrong and we have all verified that nothing was done wrong on our behalf. We have even helped the situation by installing a new lock and not charging anything to go back out there twice. The customer has verified that everything is fine and I would like to get this situation removed and closed out and I would Like for this not to have any effect on our business in the future.
