River Cyclery & Sport Reviews (4)

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

The bike was described as "tuned up and ready to ride."  The pictures showed a clean bike with no visible damage.  I called to verify the condition of the bike and go an email saying "I just went and got the bike it's in awesome shape, no frame scratch's, no fork damage at all, the two things I did see, small scratch's on top of the handlebars, and the seat has a small tear in the back both are minor."

Since the bike required new parts prior to riding it, had frame scratches, and fork damage.  I cannot agree that it was in the condition it was described to be.

Regards,

I'm sorry for the delay in response I've been traveling for a few weeks and I actually forgot to respond until just now. I have to say that I'm sorry that my (goodwill) offer of a $100.00 is not acceptable, I'm not going to offer anymore than that, as I stated in my last response the bike sold as a used demo, with signs of wear etc.  Also the customer has 14-days to return the bike for a full refund and he did not decide to do that either, and also the bike is still under a full factory warranty so the seat post would be replaced at no charge to the customer as well. After all of this being said I feel that he just wants to use the BB as leverage to get free money from me, and do not think that's fair. If he didn't want the bike after full inspection he should of returned for a full refund, don't you agree? After having for almost two month's now he's filing a claim, I don't understand haw that can be legitimate.

Thank you, I hope this helps out

I sold the bike as a demo bike in the description I stated the bike was used with many rides on it, it was not in like new condition I realize it showed signs of wear, this bike is a 2014 Specialized Stumpjumper Elite which sells for $4200.00 plus tax, [redacted] only paid $3000.00 for it...

knowing it was a USED bike, I also informed him that the bike is under factory warranty and the seat post is covered by that warranty. Seat post is ($250.00) plus labor. I'm sorry he is disappointed with the bike it's in great shape, but YES it does show signs of wear just like described. At this point I do not feel that there should be any refund of money, he purchased a used bicycle that in our opinion was in great shape. However I will be willing to refund him $100.00 for the seat and frame scratch as a good will only, but I truly feel the bike was sold exactly as described.

Review: I purchased a used bike from River Cyclery and Sport which was described by [redacted] as " In awesome shape, no frame scratch's, no fork damage at all, the two things I did see, small scratch's on top of the handlebars, and the seat has a small tear in the back both are minor." He also sent me pictures of a clean bike that did not show any damage. When the bike arrived, it was very dirty and not in the condition described. The "two things" he mentioned were bigger then described, there were several scratches on the frame, a huge nick in the fork, a broken derailleur cable, a missing cable clamp, and a broken seat post. I immediately informed [redacted] of my disappointment and he assured me he would make it right. Since then he, has blown me off.Desired Settlement: I would like to be refunded $500, which would cover replacing the seat post, derailleur cable, clamp and to make up for the nicks and scratches.
