Riverbend Farms Reviews (8)

I'm shocked to hear about the health issues. I have a almost 6 year old female that has been totally healthy. I bought from Jody at Riverbend Bordeauxs. I did have a delay with the paperwork but I did get it eventually with a few reminder phone calls from me. Having never bought a purebred dog before I wasn't sure how long paperwork usually takes.

I purchased a pup from Jody (Hilltop kennels) in 1995.$1200 in that area and shipping. paid for him months in advance and was told the barn caught on fire where her kennels were. And all dogues & pups died and I could get a refund or a pup.. Never did get a refund runaround for months lots of messages certified letters, I called police in her area to file complaint ,and Revdex.com also with dog fancy where she advertised ,and we were going to fly there, and she came up with a pup soon after we contacted police and shipped him 12-95 never any papers Jody changed the kennels name shortly after that
bottom jaw was crooked severe under bite, hip dysplasia max out at 95lbs, elbow dysplasia, He died suddenly at 9yrs old from Pericardial effusion per necropsy and vet said it was HEREDITARY
I did have the pleasure of OPIE being in my life for 9 years, but Jody's back yard breeding puppy mill money hungry practices need to stop..
POOR dogues and unknowing people who purchase from this kennel are in for heartache and a lot of $$$ due to Jody's greed and give a damn attitude an the condition of the dogues she sells.

BUYER BEWARE!
Purchased a dogue de bordeaux in 2016. Puppy was "lame" from the start. X-rays showed severe hip dysplasia , elbow dysplasia and a bone cancer. Bone tumor fractured his wrist bone at 1.5 years of age.
DO NOT BUY FROM THIS KENNEL!

+1

This lady doesn't even deserve a star as far as I'm concerned. We drove over from Olympia, Wa to pick out a puppy. We ended up getting a male which he is now almost 5.
We NEVER received any paperwork regarding AKC from her after several attempts. A few months after bringing our puppy home he ended up having a hernia, again after several attempts to [redacted] she finally answered and said to find out the cost to get it fixed and she would pay it. After doing the leg work we got the price, and surprise surprise no answer. Lucky that ended up going away on its on. So lets fast forward to October 2016
We noticed a lump and overnight it became the size of a softball. We rushed him to the local pet hospital and after $500 in cost found out he has Mass Cell Cancer. WHICH IS HEREDITARY. Its something that is being passed on from these poor dogs she continues to breed. He had to have it removed immediately because it could have attached onto his organs. This procedure then cost us $600. Fast forward some more to beginning of Feb 2017 Gunner then became very sick. Unable to go to the bathroom, We took him to our primary vet which then sent us to a specialist in our area for CANCER. After about $1500 he was put on two medications on top of Benadryl and an antacid to try and fight off any cancer, he has undergone several ultrasounds, liver biopsys, exams, blood work. Luckily for us as of today he is showing no signs of cancer, but our vet says "he will always have cancer, just a matter of when it will appear again" He got better but only for a few weeks.
Now to our current situation, Gunner has been in and out of the vet daily and I mean daily. Still unable to urinate, which is $110 each day. He's losing nerve in his back end. He has lost 27 lbs. We were advised to get him fixed. Last Friday they did an emergency apt and got him in and fixed which ended up costing us $400, they were hoping this would help correct the problem. and it has not. He's currently at the cancer center getting his bladder drained daily until were able to get his current issues under control..
Please beware of getting a puppy from this horrible lady. We have a young child whos world is this dog and he is going to be devastated if that one day Gunner doesn't come home along with the rest of our family. She' s not only causing harm to these poor dogs but in the long run she's causing pain to these families because their dog becomes ill and or passes away.
I will be writing reviews everywhere that I can about this lady.
BUYER BEWARE... I WOULD ABSOUTLY NOT GET A PUPPY FROM THIS HORRIBLE PERSON.

She now sells her dogs through Big Country Bordeaux in Texas

We purchased a puppy from Riverbend four years ago and had all the problems with her listed above. Paid extra for the akc papers and spent MONTHS writing and calling her badgering her to get them to us. She finally did send them probably six to 8 months later, may have been more. Last month our dog we bought from her died suddenly. I dont know if she had a heart problem or something or what but she had something internally wrong with her because she showed no signs of being sick or injured anywhere. She was fine and then she was gone. I can only guess this had something to do with her breeding. We are very unhappy with our purchase from Riverbend and will never purchase from them again. We loved our dog so much, she was my baby and I feel so robbed to have only had the pleasure of having her in our family for four short years. I had previously filed a complaint on her with the Revdex.com a few years back when all the drama with the papers was happening but I see now that they have no bad ratings on there and an A+ rating. When I went to submit my complaint with them they had an F rating and many more complaints on there than mine. How convenient that they are no longer listed. Buyers beware.

Review: We bought a puppy from this breeder in March of 2011. The breeder told us that she had to order the papers and that she would mail them to us when she received them. After a few months I began to send emails to breeder requesting the akc papers. She did respond to one of my emails stating that she would mail them in a couple days. The breeder is very difficult to contact by phone and by email and lives far away from us. I have left numerous messages with her and sent emails that have not been responded to. Its been over two years and still no papers on my dog.Desired Settlement: Send paperwork or $500 refund

Review: I purchased a French mastiff male puppy from ([redacted]) Owner of Riverbend Bordeaux mastiff. I paid $1,500 plus $250 shipping and about $1000 on vet bills. I have never received a contract or papers on him. He became ill at 10 months. He was throwing up his undigested food and had diarrhea daily. He throws up and still has diarrhea for months and months. He weighed 130 and dropped to 94 lbs in 3 days .He was diagnose with not being able to break down fat or protein; consequently, He has been on pancreatic powder for months .He is unable to gain weight or maintain his weight. My veterinarian said that he is slowly starving himself to death. He has highly recommended putting him down. I notify [redacted] by phone and email and never received any communication from her. Until last week; when I threaten to report her to Revdex.com and contact other French mastiff breeders and post on facebook. She is not an honest or respected breeder. She contacted me that same day and stated she would replace with another large male puppy. She said she was breeding 2 females to males; however, she would not say which males and females. I feel like she is putting me off. It has been difficult for me and my 8 year old daughter. He sleeps with her every night in her room. We love him and will miss him a lot; He will not replaceable. But, we have invested so much in him. We love the Bordeaux breed and would like to have a large healthy male puppy. We can only hope she is a true Christian and replace my best friend with a healthy male puppy.[redacted]Desired Settlement: I would like a large healthy male puppy. As soon as one is available, preferably within a couple of months. With a written guarantee.
