I have received your letter dated *** regarding a complaint made by *** ***
In response to Mr***'s comments, I would like to advise you of the following:
Mr*** did not purchase a formal dining room set as
stated in his complaintThis is a casual dining room with natural markings throughout the wood and a matte finish*** does not fill natural markings or hand rub their table topsFinishes such as Mr*** has described would be 3-times the price of what the *** table would beOur sample table on the floor has similar markingsNo solid wood table is the same
We have had our expert wood finisher look at the pictures that Mr*** provided and he said the same thing as the manufacturer; that the markings are just the natural wood and that there is nothing wrong with itOur expert has said the same thing as was stated in Mr***'s complaint to youThat, indeed, the wood was natural and that it was just the heart of the wood and doesn't absorb the stain in the same wayThis statement contradicts the other opinion which Mr*** received which stated that a filler had been applied
We have been in touch with Mr*** by email and have advised him that we are in discussions again with *** and the representative for *** to try and get a new table topAs yet we have not had a response and are still awaiting the outcome
If they are willing to replace the table top there is still no guarantee that the replacement would not have more natural markings in the top than the table he currently has

I'm not going to debate the word "formal"When we arrived at Manorhouse and spoke to the associate we explained our requirementsWe said that we were interested in a dining room set for our dining roomWe did view other sets in the showroom and indicated we were not interested in a set that was "fatigued", with worm holes and rustic marks and suchWe looked at the showroom table and chairs and the associate went on to explain that it was manufactured by a *** company and assured us that it was of good quality and good craftsmanshipWe chose a dark stained matte finish table with six chairs and selected the cloth seat colourWe didn't see any such blemishes on the show room table and if indeed this was common, one would expect it uniformly all over the table top, but oddly it's just in one spot on our table
At no time were we informed that spending $*** plus tax was not enough money to expect a quality finish on the table top nor what to expect from the manufacturers finishing processHowever we did ask the associate what would happen if the products came in damagedWhen we looked over the set in the showroom, we noted that two braces were cracked on the underside of two of the showroom chairsShe assured us that before delivery all items would be unpacked and inspected(As an aside to this complaint, two of the chairs delivered did have brace damage which Manorhouse immediately retrieved and exchanged them with the showroom frames.)
I also solicited for "expert" opinion and the two I provided were not to explain what exactly is the problem, only to establish that there is a problem and that it should have been corrected in the manufacturing processTo suggest that we did not spend enough money to expect a flawless product is disappointingI have seen better finishes on tables half the price
I believe that after dealing with Manorhouse they are too willing to use their "go to" line of "It's a natural product so therefore it has imperfections"Or you should have spent 3-times the amount if you wanted the quality you're looking for
*** when you spend over $for a table and chair set, it is unacceptable to have what looks like a huge exclamation watermark on your new table top

Manorhouse Furniture will exchange the table Mr*** currently has for the floor model or he can return the table and chairs and we will charge him a 20% restocking fee which is clearly stated on the custom order form signed by Mrs*** on *** (copy attached)
