fixed but took long time and only lasted 1 week.repaired on feb.22/14. called because couldn't get company that installed furnace.repairman came and left.returned over 1 1/2 hrs later.said couldn't find part but finally did.installed part within 1/2 hr.furnace went down 1 week. got furnace installer this time as was earlier in the day.installed same part as previously done. said other installer put in wrong part.told river city part only lasted 1 week. said I should have called them. I said you had no part. was lucky to find that one as told by installer from river city.river city said would get back to me.never did. just a bill with interest charges 11 times.found out later from furnace installer the part rivercity installed wasn't even the right one. that's why it lasted 1 week.why should I have to pay for a part plus labour on a repair that totally was wrong?????not only the time to repair but the part was also not the right part.not even sure if it was a new part as took repair man over 1 1/2 hrs to return.[redacted]granted they got furnace running.but to last 1 week then had to get same thing redone [redacted]Desired Settlementbecause of the circumstances I feel my bill should have been voided or a very little cost to repair.I still have the wrong part they installed.this would have been paid long ago if communication would have been met as they were to call back.nothing was done.Business Response In a situation like this our after-hours crew's sole job is to restore heat and that is exactly what was done. Our technician left the site to find a part that would work and returned to restore heat.The furnace worked for one week then quit again. At that point we must be given an opportunity to assess the problem. It may be our part was wrong or faulty and it would then have be corrected at no charge to the customer. It also may have been a completely new problem however if we are not called back we will never know.However we were not called to assess until after another company came on site.We cannot warranty something we are not given an opportunity to reassess.Our account with this customer stands and interest will continue.If this account is not paid in 30 days from the date of this email, the account will be sent to collections.Consumer Response (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)I never called them because they had no part to put in. the technician had a hard time finding a part to put in as he told me.this is why I never called them again as they had no replacement part to repair it again.im sure they wouldn't have had another after a week.besides the one they put in was the wrong part in the first place.so they cant tell me they were ordering or had ordered new ones within 5 days and had them on-hand.this was why I got the installer to repair the furnace the following time as I knew they had parts because they install this brand constantly. to put the wrong part in doesn't tell me they knew what he was doing or knew their was 2 different parts. so I am to pay because he puts in wrong part with not knowing and no replacements on shelf ?? why would I recall????Final Business Response Parts available after hours are limited to what we have on hand. It is impossible to have on hand all parts for all equipment that we may come accross. Our tec got your furnace going with whatever parts he could access after hours which I presume would be of utmost importance. (I note your furnace installing company was not available after hours so what is the alternative... no heat until business hours or get my furnace going even if it is with the wrong part? During regular business hours other parts can be accessed quickly (usually within 24 hours) if required. We simply need to be given the opportunity. I repeat... why would you not give us a chance to follow-up?
