Review: When buying the car from this dealership I was hold that the price of the car was 13,000. After a few days of negotiations over the trade in we finally reached my payments to be 211.00 a month. A week after getting My car I got mail from the financial company saying the car was sold for 135000 and my Payments were ten dollars higher a month. At first it thought it was an honest mistake because they had also let Me drive around with the wrong insurance cards for a week. Then I realized it was a serious trick... I never saw the numbers on the papers just signature lines and computer Screen always said 13000. My boyfriend left the room to help switch plates and both of us were never told the car was 135000 not 130000. We are upset and frustrated and no one wants to accept Blame or help us.Desired Settlement: Refund $500.00

To whom this concerns,

This email is in response to [redacted]'s complaint that $13,500 was not the negotiated and final price of the vehicle that she purchased. The final negotiated price of $13,500 was in fact the final negotiated price of the vehicle purchased and the documents attached show proof as follows:

Document #1 is the buyers order that was signed on 9/*/13 for $13,500 as the Vehicle Price for VIN ending in [redacted]

Document #2 is the finance contract through Wells Fargo. I have circled the total cash price which is $13,500 + $823.52 in NYS Taxes + the dealer's $48.00 gas fee for a total of $14,371.52 of which her payments are $221.19 per month for 72 months at 6.99%.

Document #3 is the bottom half of the finance contract in Document #2 which is signed by [redacted] has all of these documents and was well aware of the price that was negotiated and agreed upon.

We understand that she is unhappy several weeks after purchase and would like to offer her two free synthetic oil changes which are valued at $75.00 each for the misunderstanding.

Please contact me if you have any questions.

Kindly,

Although the signed documents reflect that the negotiated price of the car was $13,500 my complaint has nothing to do with the signed contracts. My complaint is that the negotiated price of the car was $13,000, in fact that was the number that was shown on the computer screen in front of me. My payments were figured out to be $211.00 a month, and I wouldn't know this if this wasn't the price that was presented in front of me on the computer. When I received my loan information in the mail my payments have increased to $221.00 a month, and I was shocked to see this. I have a witness that was with me at the time that can vouched that the agreed upon price was $13,000. When the paper work was printed out the [redacted] covered the prices with other pieces of paper and all I was shown was "where to sign." Two oil changes do not equal the $500 plus interest that I will now have to pay. I feel that they tricked me because they thought they were not going to make as much money as they thought they should have on my trade in car. I am not happy with this response and wish to further the complaint.

Response:

[redacted],

If you negotiated $13,000 and $211/month then why would you sign documents that say otherwise? No one here is trying to "trick" you, but the purpose of a signed contract is so that both parties are legally aware of what the selling and negotiated price/payments are at the time of sale.

My free service offer stands and I apologize for any confusion that may have taken place. We did not perform any wrong doing here.

Thank you,

I have never challenged what the signed documents say I have said there is a discrepancy between what the signed contracts say and what was presented to me on the computer and what was discussed. Two oil changes do not equal $500 plus interest.

Review: Three years ago we began leasing a VW TDI at almost $500.00 a month. We had planed on purchasing the vehicle at the end of the lease so we didn't worry about going over the mileage. In October when the diesel emissions fraud became public we had called Riverhead Bay Motors and asked what our options are. The only advice our sales person gave us was to "call corporate headquarters." We called head quarters and they said we could either purchase the car or turn it in and pay the over mileage which would be over $3,000. It made no sense to pay the $3,000 and then buy another car so we decided to purchase it. I contacted the dealer to make arrangements for the purchase. I was told since it was one of the diesel cars that they could not sell it to us. Once again the advice given by the sales team was call headquarters maybe they can help you out.

On 12/**/15 we returned the car to the dealership. Two days later on 12/**/15 we drove in the poring rain to Riverhead Bay Motors to have our good will package activated that was sent to us by

Volkswagen. This $1,000 package was sent to customers that were defrauded by VW. Unfortunately no one at the dealership was willing to help us. We were told that the manager Rick was off and he was the only person that could help us. How is that making things right Riverhead Bay VW? We spent over 20k between leasing and maintenance and no one could help us?Desired Settlement: Activation of the goodwill package and better customer service. We are locals that live and work in the community. Let's make this right Riverhead VW.

Response:

To whom this concerns,We apologize for the issues you are having with regards to purchasing/leasing your Volkswagen. This is something that is out of our hands legally and we've been directed to have all clients contact corporate by the manufacturer. We also apologize that you were not able to activate your free $1,000 goodwill package when you first arrived at our store. Our sales manager had taken two days off for personal reasons and the back-up was not available to help you. So that you are aware Volkswagen has placed this burden on all of its independent retailers and we have been literally bombarded with activations daily. From what I understand you were able to come in today and activate your card. This is good news. I also personally responded to your email sent at 8:00am this morning by around 11:00am. A timely response I believe. Again I apologize for the delay you had with regards to getting your free $1,000 gift cards activated and if there's anything I can do for you going forward feel free to reach out. Happy HolidaysAnthony M[redacted]General Manager
