Riverhead Building Supply Corp. Reviews (2)

Review: I purchased 5 storm doors -[redacted] brand. the referred installer was 100% incompetent and did not install correctly, left the doors dangerously uncalibrated, resulted in large gash on my arm( had to see Dr)) , a young child visiting had door slam on her leg resulting in injury, 2 dogs were injured as door slammed on their chest and one got her toes caught in the door as it slammed shut.

The installer was incapable of installing in a reason time frame, and also, incapable of calibrating several times I called.

They installed a hydraulic closure that is missing a hold open piece, just noticed....

The screen is in place, and it takes 2 hands, and your [redacted] to open , hold open door to get into door -then you have to hold it till it100% closes to avoid injury. !

I called [redacted], they said to call RBS...I called and RBS wants me to pay them to come out to "see" if broken or to fix it!!!! this is NOT WARRANTIED SERVICE !!! I explained the dangerous nature of the installation, and they said pay us $ 60.00 to make an appt.Desired Settlement: I want RBS to com out..remove the storm door...refund my money, and replace with another one of similar or comparable quality !....

NOT INSTALLER THEY REFERRED ME TO. !!!!

Response:

Although Riverhead Building Supply (RBS) attempted to initiate contact with customer on 7/*/14, it was not until 7/*/14 when actual contact was made. RBS sold these doors to a contractor hired by the customer. The customer's contractor handled the installation. On 7/*/14 an RBS representative met with the customer and repaired the door in question. A follow-up call to confirm the customer's satisfaction was placed on 7/*/14 but her voicemail was again full.

Review: I had ordered 8 Andersen Silverline windows from a Riverhead building supply salesman named [redacted]. I won't put his last name for privacy reasons. [redacted] was referred to me by a contractor who I fired after 1 day of work. I still decided to work with [redacted] because he seemed knowledgeable about the windows. [redacted] ordered me NEW CONSTRUCTION windows when they were supposed to be REPLACEMENT WINDOWS. The windows could not be properly installed due to the 2 layers of siding that was in the way. Upon calling [redacted] he gave me excuses on why the windows were fine. He also claimed he "assumed" I was replacing the siding since I was doing so much work on the house. I tried to go above [redacted]'s head to contact his bosses. I can't get in contact with a manager to file a complaint. I am filing a complaint here and I will be contacting my local news to try to expose this huge company for POOR/TERRIBLE customer service.Desired Settlement: I would love for the company to own up to their mistake and correct the issue whether it is replace the windows or pay for the correction I will have to make to the siding

Response:

Dear [redacted],

By means of response to your correspondence of ** December 2013, I contacted [redacted] directly and arranged a meeting on ** December at the site where the windows in question had been installed.

As matters of background:

1) Riverhead Building Supply ordered these windows in collaboration with, and on behalf of the original and subsequently terminated contractor.

2) Riverhead Building Supply DID NOT install these windows.

3) The window manufacturer was previously called upon to inspect these windows and did so on ** October 2013. During this inspection, no defects attributable to the manufacture of these windows were noted.

Present for the inspection on ** December were [redacted], [redacted] (Riverhead Building Supply [redacted]), and myself. No product failures or deficiencies were observed and at the conclusion of the inspection [redacted] agreed the windows were operating in an acceptable manner. No further action on the part of Riverhead Building Supply was requested or required.

We sincerely appreciate your bringing this matter to our attention and providing us with the opportunity to satisfy this customer.

Kind Regards, [redacted], [redacted]
