The complainant's father passed away on January 11, 2016. During our arrangement interview, the complainant was very upset with the care her father received from Rust Medical Center and did not agree with the cause of death that the medical staff at Rust Medical entered in the death
certificate. The complainant ordered the direct cremation to stop due to the fact that the complainant was going to contact the Office of the Medical Investigator to request an autopsy. Riverside Funeral Home has a refrigeration charge of $per day that a loved one is in our care. Due to the complainant being extremely upset with the findings of Rust Medical Riverside Funeral Home advised the complainant that Riverside Funeral Home will not charge for refrigeration for the first days but that refrigeration costs would begin to incur at $per day after the 6th day. We made a heartfelt attempt to assist the complainant by deferring the first days of refrigeration, which was more than enough time to contact OMI and petition them for an autopsy. The Office of the Medical Investigator did not agree with the complainant's argument and denied the complainants numerous request to OMI for an autopsy. Riverside Funeral Home held the complainant's father in our care until the complainant finally advised our firm to proceed with the cremation on January 23, 2016, days after the passing occurred. The complainant incurred days of refrigeration in addition to the free days that she was given by Riverside Funeral Home. The complainant never disagreed with the refrigeration costs and paid the amount in full. A few months after the cremation, the complainant contacted the owner demanding money to be refunded to her and was very irate and abusive over the phone not only with our staff but with the owner. MrF* never once spoke down to the complainant nor did he curse at the complainant during the phone conversation. The justification the complainant provided when she requested the refund made no sense and had no merit especially months after the cremation had been completed. The complainant is attempting to slander the firm of Riverside Funeral Home and try and bully us to give her a refund that is no warranted
