We moved my mother into this building in September 2013, she had Alzheimer's diseaseOnce she got used to it and settled in, things were going well
In June of 2014, my mother was attacked by one of the residence on the floorI was told about this by the tenant service managerI right away asked when this woman would be removed and was told "Oh they are all sick, you know? " Well that was not good enough for me, my mother was terrified from that point forwardIn my mother's lease it clearly stated that if the family member became irate or violent in there time in the building they would be removed, this woman was not removed! I send numerous emails to the executive director and never received one response from herMy mother started running away from the breakfast, lunch and dinner table because she was scared of this womanShe began to lose weight and would only eat properly if I would bring her food from home and she ate in her room
Then, one month later, a man moved into the building and right away started walking into everyone's suite looking for his wife that had passed away Of course, this was sad but it was frightening to the tenants including my motherAgain I send emails to the tenant service manager and executive director, again no responseAt the time I should have called the police but this was the Lion's Club, they are known for being good people, I was wrong! One night my mother woke up in the middle of the night and rolled over in bed and that man was standing over her bed, imagine what that did to herShe told him to get out and he quietly walked out but that could have gone bad easily, nothing was done about it
Then in September I got a call from the building saying we had to have a meeting because my mother was becoming a problem with the walking away from the dinner table, they had some nerve saying that to usThey said they don't have the staff to keep bringing her back to the tableThe building is grossly understaffedIn the September meeting with the home care worker and the executive director, they complained about my mother and said she had to go to the nursing homeI asked why the woman that attacked her and the man that was standing over her bed were not removedThey didn't want to talk about it, they just wanted my mother out because the building didn't like me because I was fighting themNothing came of that meeting, it was just a witch huntAnother meeting with WRHA and the building was scheduled for Oct
At the same time, my mother was in the hospital overnight for a yr old stomach condition, for two weeks after the procedure she had to have pureed foodAfter the two weeks were up, the executive director refused to give my mother solid food because it was a liability if she choked, the prior year they had no problem with it but because she wanted my mom out, it was this time aroundWe had a note from the doctor stating that she could eat solids to her liking but they didn't careThis was a violation of my mother's human rights! In October there was a meeting with myself, the executive director, WRHA and the president of the Lions ClubDuring the meeting, the executive director tried to falsify charting records on my mother until it was pointed out she was using old chartingShe was trying to prove to WRHA that my mother was not eating well after the procedure and she wasShe just was refusing to eat what she called "baby food"The meeting did not go well and the building manipulated WRHA into trying to pull my power of attorney and seize my motherRegardless, by the end of Dec, my mother was thrown into a nursing home against our will She fell into a depression and died three months later only weighing LBSThis is what this building is likeThis is a story of elder abuse and violation of our human rights
