Open letter to Coastal Carolina Hospital, Riverside Woman's Health Care and SC Revdex.com
My wife experienced a negative birthing experience due to the derelict actions of Dr. [redacted] and Nurse [redacted].
On 23 Sep 2100 we were admitted(dilated 4 cm). Dr. [redacted] stated that she would complete our request to induce because we were full term.
My wife would have to receive the appropriate amount of antibiotic prior.
At 0240 I asked [redacted] to get the doctor to re request breaking of the water. [redacted] expressed extreme reluctance to wake the doctor. At 0333 I asked where the doctor was. [redacted] stated "I hope she is on her way, I'm not waking the doctor". [redacted] proceeds to explain that the doctor does not break water in the middle of the night, and that we would have to wait until doctor change over at 0730. My wife is at 5 to 7 min contractions at this time.
The doctor arrives in room @ 0335. After breaking the water she brashly and loudly slams the door.
I would like to point out the insanity of allowing a nurse to actively stall a doctor from seeing a patient. Had my wife or the baby been hurt due to this I would have held this nurse personally and legally liable.
What kind of hospital allows a nurse to prevent doctor service due to the doctor being asleep? I would argue that it is impossible to provide "extra ordinary care at home" using this technique.
Had I known that Dr. [redacted] would have insisted on sleeping rather than providing care to a woman in active labor I would have kept my wife at home.
Words cannot describe the friction that this doctor. and nurse caused with their cold attitude, it caused a derelict atmosphere inside the hospital.
Dr. [redacted]'s use of "air quotes" in our conversation did not communicate to us her medical competency.
I will submit an negative comment to the South Carolina Revdex.com. I will do my best to spread the word of the antagonistic manner of Dr. [redacted].
We will never again allow either to provide us with medical care, even in dire emergency. In four births this was the worst experience we have ever felt.
