Riverwood Apartments failed to notify us or inspect our apartment in a timely manner then turned us over to a collection agency for 834 dollars.After moving out May 20, 2014 we did not receive our 200 dollar deposit. After six months we received a collection notice for 834 dollars. We left our apartment in good condition with a few items left behind that would not fit in our moving truck. We spoke with Stephanie Torres who assured us it was no problem and they would clean the apartment for approximately 30 dollars. Despite the fact that we left a forwarding address, three contact phone numbers and had an additional ten days of paid rent on the apartment (time that could have been used to address any issues) they never contacted us. Even when they completed their "inspection" of the property we were not contacted within 10 days as required by Nevada Law. The Manager of the apartment [redacted] stated that everything was done according to the policy of the Collection Agency. Desired SettlementWe expect our full refund of 200 dollars. Carpet cleaning fee of 65 was not discussed prior to departure. Carpet was clean and free of any stains or odors. [redacted], Assistant Manager stated not to worry it would cost about 30 dollars to remove the items left behind including a microwave oven that one of the workers stated they wanted to keep.We expect the claim to be recalled from Collection Service of Nevada for 834.00.Business Response To Whom It May Concern. [redacted] came to the office to turn in keys since they were leaving out of state on 5/20/2014 and would not be here on the 31st to turn in his keys. [redacted] turned in keys to [redacted], she is the leasing professional that entered the notes in the computer. [redacted] asked [redacted] how much it would cost to have Riverwood Apartments dispose of some items. [redacted] informed [redacted] at that point that she would not be able to give him a price since she did not know what was left in the unit and it would depend on the amount of items left behind. At that point, [redacted] stated that someone might be by his unit and that he did not have a forwarding address at the time. He would call us when he had a forwarding address available. [redacted] is disputing his charges, which are as follows: Full unit cleaning $200.00 (8 hours of cleaning. 1 housekeeper @ $25 per hour), Carpet cleaning $65 (vendor came out and I have invoice available), Trashing out unit $550.00 ($25 per large item/$25 per 52 gallon bag. Items include: microwave, dining table, book shelf, 3 end tables black & silver, red bike, 3 dining chairs, 3 tall wood door/panels, a large amount of pots and pans, food items, plastic boxes/tubs, wires/cables, bathroom items, trash etc.) The charges that were applied are based on the lease policies and procedures, page 5, section 15 and 16. Since there was no forwarding address left, all the paperwork was sent to [redacted]'s last known address via certificate of mailing. I also sent out a second demand letter for payment on 7/22/2014. Since there was no response the account was sent to Collection Services of Nevada by the end of August/beginning of September 2014. When [redacted] called to dispute the charges on 10/7/2014, I advised that I would look everything over again and get back to him. Collection Services of Nevada was in contact with me after they made contact with [redacted]. They agreed to review all paperwork and contact [redacted] to resolve the issue since they had already received the collection claim. If any charges need adjustment, they would take care of it at that time. Shortly after (10/16/14), [redacted] submitted this complaint to the Revdex.com. Please let me know if you need any other information. I can easily submit copies of paperwork, lease, pictures, etc. Thank you for your time.
