I request to cancel our membership for myself and my wife. Due to lack of equipment in the gym, the equipment were taken out and never replace.
I've been asking to have my membership cancel and my wife. Due to the lack of equipments in the gym, some of the equipments were taken out and said that they were going to be replace with new ones, however, it's been 2 months and the equipments promised still have not been replaced. It's been impossible for me and my wife to do our workouts because most of the equipment were being used by other patrons due to other equipment are missing. We had to wait 1 hour min sometimes or sometimes just left the gym without working out because we can't do what we want to do However, the manager told me that we cannot cancel for that reason. I do feel that if the gym is inadequate for members to do our workout due to lack of equipment then we should be able to cancel our membership. I would rather go somewhere else to do our workout rather than wait or modified our workout because the gym doesn't have the equipment we want to use. I spoked with the billing department and they told me that there's nothing they can do, they are not allowed to cancel contract. They suggested that I spoke with the manager of the gym, and when I spoke with the manager she told me the same thing. I feel that this is not acceptable, they cannot force people to continue to pay for membership if the gym is inadequate for members to do the workout.

Member is requesting cancellation of membership due to "lack of equipment" because two Olympic flat benches are still on order awaiting shipment from Lifefitness. We received a truckload of new equipment including a new seated decline press which adds to our extensive selection of chest options. I just walked through & noted an abundance of options for working chest which include but are not limited to seated chest press, pec fly, 2 smith machines, squat rack, power platform rack, low rack - all can be used with a flat or adjustable bench of which we have 5 - to perform flat or incline chest press. In addition we have 2 cable crossover machines, a seated incline press, decline DB bench, not to mention the functional training options available with the Torque/TRX apparatus. There are plenty of options to go around. We have a lot of members who are being creative with their training while waiting for the flat benches to arrive. We regret any inconvenience this has caused because the flat bench is a huge favorite. We are however unable to control deliveries that are special orders shipped from Hungary.
The membership contract states in the first paragraph that equipment may be changed without affecting enforceability.
Since there are more than sufficient options for training chest we are not going to cancel the membership for "lack of equipment".

I understand that theres other equipment we can use to do our chest workout, but that also requires me to drag the benches around to another equipment machine just to perform a bench press workout, this is very inconvenient to us, and prefer doing our workout on free weights versus the machines. Also, why should we modify our own workout, just because they cant provide the equipment that they promised to replaced. Its been two months, that is enough inconvenient for us, modifying our workout, waiting for other people to finish their workout, just so we can use the other equipment, because of the missing equipments. I feel that we should not be held hostage to stay at this gym if they cant provide our needs. We waited long enough, its been two months that we have been modifying our workout for their own convenience, just have our membership cancel, so we can move on.

This establishment and their billing company are making it hard to end a contract after an employee told me I could.
I called this business to ask about ending my membership and was told I could contact the billing company, pay a $100 cancelation fee, and I could get out of the contract. When I did this, I was told I could not cancel unless my membership was paid in full. When I signed up for this membership the lady that signed me up did not explain any of this to me, nor did they tell me I would never be able to cancel it. I was never even given a chance to read any cancelation policy. I was assured by the employee I spoke with on the phone that all I had to do was pay a fee and it would be canceled. I'm very upset with their business practices, and so are may others, as I have read many reviews complaininv about the same thing. I should not have to pay for a gym membership that I will not be using. A $100 cancelation fee was reasonable to me because I did sign a contract, but telling me I will have to pay in full is wrong.

The cancellation policy is very straight forward. It requires proof of move beyond 35 miles and $100 to cancel in the first half of the membership, $50 in the second half. The issue is usually when there is not a relocation to qualify for the cancel.
It was mentioned that they did not wish to pay for something they weren't using so I assume that to be the case. Membership is purchased in specific lengths of time for access to the facility. There aren't any memberships offered based on usage.
The cancellation policy is typed in bold print on the front of the membership & on the member copy.
We have a lot of members who move & take advantage of the cancel options so they don't have to continue payments. There are far more who appreciate the benefit of the membership flexibility than the ones who take issue with it.
If the member would like to call me to discuss their specific situation I will be glad to see what I can do to help.
