RMJ Construction

I needed a retaining wall redone on my property line. After a few quotes from other businesses, I decided to go with RMJ's bid since they are Revdex.com Accredited. What could go wrong? Before I signed the contract I had the contractor/owner come back to my home to verify his quote so that I wouldn't get any unexpected costs once everything had thawed out. Everything was still the same as he originally quoted me. So I signed and paid a third of the cost as the contract stated. I was told then that he was backed up on work orders so it will be a month before he could get to me. So I waited almost a month and then contacted RMJ, he then said he is still a little behind on his current work and requested another two weeks before he'd get to my retaining wall. So I agreed. So on Friday of the second week, I got a call from RMJ. I was hoping to get confirmation that work would be started that Monday, but instead the contractor called to tell me that he is cancelling the deal. He miscalculated his quote and now required an additional $1300 to a total of $5900 to complete the wall! I did get my down payment refunded, but am very upset with the lack of professionalism this business demonstrated. Not only did they back out of a contract, they took a month and a half to do it. This is not a contractor/business owner that can be trusted!
