The owner of RMS construction admitted to me (verbally and written) that he was charging me more because insurance was covering the cost than he would charge the guy (the person I purchased my home from who would be covering costs outside of insurance) that originally hired him for the job.
One of the repairs on my home was removal/reinstalling insulation. I asked when this would be done 3 separate times. Each time was a new reason as to why it hadn't been done yet. One day, he even told me they were coming that day to do it. When I questioned him on why, he came up with a different excuse. My home is on piers and I physically would not have been able to inspect this work. It is my assumption that he was hoping I would forget about it or that he could say it was done while I was not home. I have a toddler and I would leave my home during repairs because he would get in the way of the employees. After realizing his motives, I began staying home to supervise work so he could not say it was done while I was not home.
After being fired, he sent me a message saying my total owed after subtracting out work that was not completed would be estimated at $4500 inclusive of both rooms. The same day he sent final invoices totaling $5,505.
Every time he was questioned about above mentioned things he claimed he made "a mistake".
This company and owner lack integrity and are dishonest. It would be "a mistake" if you hired said company.
If the owner is to reply that my claims are false, I can provide screen shots of conversations.
In addition to dishonesty, the quality of the work is poor. The tile work is less than stellar as is the paint job on the room that was completed. The plumbing fixtures were also installed upside down.
Also, he brought employees into my home that reeked of alcoholic beverages.
