Rude collection caller threatens to contact my job
I received a call today and didn't answer the first time because I was at work. I kept getting called back to back and finally answered to see what was so important that a voicemail couldn't have been left. The lady wanted to say her name; I think it was Jill, not positive on that. First she said something about being from a police department and that there was a claim filed against me, so of course I started panicking like, wait, what? As she kept talking, she was asking if she had the right person. I said yes, then she asked if I received something in the mail about a collection, and I told her no, I didn't know what she was talking about. So I asked her if she was from a bill collector; she didn't say anything at first. I asked again, then she said she was, so I hung up because I was at work.
Then she called me again and was very, very rude and unprofessional and said, "So you want me to file a claim against you?" As she was yelling at me, I started to yell back at her. First of all, you don't yell at someone you're trying to collect money from, and extremely unprofessional again, so I hung up. I called back to ask to speak with a supervisor; she told me no. I said I want to speak to a supervisor, and she said because of the way I treated her, I'm not talking to a supervisor. Well, if she wasn't rude and unprofessional and yelling at me, I wouldn't have yelled back. Then she said she was contacting my job. Well, I do believe I have to have some type of proof of what they are trying to get from me. I already went to my HR on this because I don't know if this is really a bill collector or a scam. I absolutely do not want that lady to ever call me again; I want to speak with a supervisor.
