Rob Jolly Roofing Reviews (1)

This company was hired to replace roof in order to solve an attic leak. The leaks have continued and the owner refuses to accept any responsibility. We were experiencing occasional leaks in our attic. After consulting with Rob Jolly, and upon his recommendation, the existing shingles were removed and a new roof replaced. With time and rain, it was discovered that the leaks were continuing despite the new roof. We incurred ceiling damage, wood damage as well as floor and furnishings damage. With every new rainstorm, Rob Jolly was contacted and informed of the situation. He initially stated that it must be a window leak that is causing the damage. Time eventually brought the truth to light that this company replaced the roof without replacing the step flashing or making any attempt to place an ice/rain barrier down. Today it is evident that his unsupervised workers caused large holes in the step flashing while removing the previous shingles with the shovels. All attempts to resolve the situation with Mr. Jolly have been futile and ended on more than one occasion with him hanging the phone up. The purpose of this complaint is to make the rest of the public aware that this company does not stand behind its work. Mr. Jolly has been given many many opportunities to rectify this situation and has not done so. Desired SettlementMr. Jolly should have immediately corrected the mistake. The faulty step flashing needs to be replaced and the roof repaired. He should be thankful that he is not being sued for damage to the inside of the house. Business Response we have attached files and are also faxing the response. please let me know you got this. I can also mail a hard copy if needed. you can call me on my cell XXX-XXX-XXXXthank you for letting me answer these non-roofing charges.thanks again rob jollyConsumer Response (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)The difficulty in dealing with the owner of this company is evident in his response to my complaint. Three and a half pages of self-applauding rhetoric and then pleading complete ignorance of the case. I would like the Revdex.com to know that I do not take filing a complaint against Mr. Jolly lightly; I had given him numerous opportunities to rectify the situation and he never did. He is a nice man and I like him personally, but he has been completely and utterly negligent in his responsibilities. If the goal of the Revdex.com is to establish marketplace trust, then there needs to be accountability for such negligence. There are two main ridiculous contentions made by Mr. Jolly in his response:1) That he was not hired to solve an attic leak "I was hired to tear off and install a new roof." I don't know of anyone who wakes up one day and decides to replace an entire roof just for the sake of replacing it. The fact is that he was indeed hired with the sole reason to solve a leak. His response underlines the fact that he is oblivious to his responsibilities as a roofer. It's as if he believes he can have his workers lay shingles over rotting wood because afterall, "he was hired to install a new roof."2) Mr. Jolly claims that step flashing is "not a roofing concern." This is just an amazing claim. Any reputable roofer will testify that step flashing is THE roofing concern. It is the only thing that prevents leaks. Replacing a roof and not replacing damaged step flashing or worsening the damage with roofing shovels negates the whole purpose of placing new roofing on. It is akin to building a new house on a faulty foundation.Someone who did not continually check on the attic and note where the leaks were coming from may not have detected the source of the problem and this is what Mr. Jolly was counting on. Mr. Jolly, with his repeated denials of responsibility and his phone hang ups has lost all respect from this consumer and he has brought this complaint against himself. We are in the process of having his mistakes corrected by a different company and I will submit their testimony when I receive it. At that point, he will have the option of paying for the repairs or face civil litigation. Thank you for your time. Final Business Response The Revdex.com has asked me to respond one last time to this complaint. The customer's son will not sit down with me or the Revdex.com in arbitration just as he would not address any of my comments about what actually transpired over the course of this three year problem.Comments: The leaks and inside damage (see his photos) were there before the roof was installed. I saw them before any work was ever done. They are not new nor were they caused by my roofing job. The nails in the sheet rock (ceiling) photo are rusted (shows age) and the floor damage is very old.Neither his mother (my customer) nor her son wanted to pay to have the wood siding removed so new step flashing could be installed.Numerous times I offered to replace the step flashing (for free), to his mother (my customer) and to the son on the phone, in person, through the Revdex.com, and in writing. My offer was never accepted.I asked the son not to let anyone tear out the shingles on the sides of the dormers as it is a dimensional style shingle and that type shingle must be put on in a 45 degree angle. He has now let another roofing company install new shingles against the wall. The new shingles are "racked" up the walls. The manufacturer states you CANNOT install them in this manner. The son sent a copy of a receipt for $950.00 for the job done by another roofing company on this roof to the Revdex.com......with a note saying this was the price of the repair. The actual costs of the (less than two bundles of) shingles and the metal needed for this job was less than $100 dollars. The son's credit card was used to pay this bill. What was actually paid for at the roofing supply company were several other jobs ......not just this job.I have a perfect Revdex.com reputation for 44 years of roofing service to the Memphis community and these accusations are simply not true.
