On May 5, 2016 I brought my 2013 Nissan Altima in to Nissan of Lake Charles for service due to problems with the air conditioning system. After inspection, I was told the low side pressure hose was worn and leaking Freon causing my air conditioner not to cool properly.
The part was ordered and I returned the following week to have my car fixed at which time I asked for the used part to be returned to me. [redacted] comes to tell me my car is ready and says, "Your compressor is going out. I've prepared a price quote for you. Would you like for us to go ahead and take care of that for you?"
I had the low pressure side hose that they had taken off my car tested by an independent contractor and after 170 pounds of pressure, NO leaks were detected.
Basically, I paid $489.79 for Nissan of Lake Charles to replace a hose that didn't need to be replaced and certainly did not fix my problem.
After numerous conversations with [redacted], Service Manager (very rude and has absolutely no concept of true customer service) I was told I could bring the old hose back. They would test it and if no leaks were found, they would take the new hose off, replace with the old one and give my money back. I was in agreement if we could be present when the hose was tested but sadly he would not allow. By this time, I have ZERO faith in the integrity and honesty or the ability of the service department to perform any repairs on my car. I refused because I do not want these people anywhere near my car. They should know as well as anyone the AC was operating EXACTLY the same after they made an unnecessary repair as it was before the repair.
I wonder if I would have had a different experience if my husband had brought the car in for repairs. Also, how many others are taken advantage of with unnecessary repairs? Anyone can make a mistake but most companies will go above and beyond to make it right especially with a long-term customer. Not Nissan of Lake Charles!! Never again!
