February 20, Staff Sergeant [redacted] ***, USA (Ret.) Complaint ID #: [redacted] Dear Staff Sergeant ***: I am responding to your submission regarding your deposit accountI apologize for the inconvenience this situation caused you The Depository Agreement and Disclosures (DAD) is provided to all account holders at the inception of their accounts and is available on usaa.comAccording to the DAD, “If FSB suspects that irregular, unauthorized, or unlawful activities may be involved with your account, FSB may ‘freeze’ (or place a hold on) the balance in your account and in other FSB accounts, without any liability to you, pending an investigation of such suspected activities.” On January 18, 2017, suspicious activity occurred, and restrictions were placed on your account to prevent any further potential loss to you and to USAASubsequently, two VA Treasury deposits posted to your account on January 31, As requested, the funds were sent to you via an official check Thank you for speaking with Linda Garza, of our staff, who advised you that upon further investigation, we confirmed you are not liable for the unauthorized activity that occurred, and we removed the restrictions from your account If you have additional questions on this matter, MsGarza remains available to assist you We appreciate you allowing us to reply to you Sincerely, [redacted] ***

Complaint: [redacted] I am rejecting this response because: I did notify you at the time I was made aware of the account that I DID NOT authorize my name as a secondary account holderI was informed by the representative that I spoke with that I had given a signature card for the account and that the account was legitimateWhen I explained that I did not sign a card or any other papers for this account to be opened with my name on it, I was told that I would have to go to civil court to have my name removed from the accountWhen I requested a copy of the signature card the representative refused to produce a copy for me to show that I had not signed the cardFurther proof that I did not open this account is that it was open for nearly a year according to your records before I even had access to the account onlineI made multiple attempts to get this resolved prior to the account going into a negative balance and have filed a police report with my county sheriff's officeThe account was opened by a former spouse without my permission and when our marriage was annulled on July 1, 2010, I was still denied removal of my name from the accountI have always made my payments to the bank for insurance and it wasn't until I was refused renewal of my insurance that I was made aware that the account was still in my name and overdrawnThe account was never used by myself, verification of card use and check deposits are evidence of thisI have filed this report due to the endless hassle that has become of this situation and an inability to get it resolved Regards, [redacted]
