Robert W. DeShields, DDS Reviews (2)

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
I have been explained by my current orthodontist that the method in which the brackets were originally placed are the sole reason for my daughters current condition.  I never indicated shoddy appliances, I am indicating shoddy work.  All cancelled appointments were rescheduled and the reason for having to cancel was inconvenient times.  These inconvenient times cost me loss of productive time.   I am a working single mother and the times in which they would schedule appointments would be inconvenient.  I am offended that Dr. DeShields would imply it is my fault that my daughter now has problems with her braces.  Myself or my daughter are in no way shape or form responsible for this shoddy work.  Her problems are due to the reason that they were not properly installed in the first place. I have paid Dr. DeShields a total of $1,346 of my own money.  In addition my insurance benefits are now exhausted after paying him an additional$1,060 , however my daughter still has 18 months more of care.  I had to move her because her mouth was constantly hurting, the office was terribly rude and disrespectful and the appointment times were inconvenient.  We have an instance in fact that after leaving an appointment that took two hours having to bring her back in the middle of the night to fix a wire that was digging into her cheek. Whenever I would try and get a convenient appointment time I would get rude backlash.  I left for the sake of my daughter and her health and because I will not be treated disrespectfully.  I am owed $578.74 for the portion of the care that she did not receive.  There is no underpayment because Dr. Deshields was already overpaid for his services.  He received compensation for each component of work he did plus $578.74.  I demand this be paid in full immediately.
Regards,

[redacted] Revdex.com 2800 Euclid Ave., 4h Cleveland, OH 44115-2408 Dear Sir:  Please accept my apologies for my delay in responding to your correspondence. 1 have had some medical problems that delayed my response. Regarding this...

patient, she was initially seen 7-6-15 for orthodontic evaluation and appliances were placed 9-16-15. She was last seen on 10-13-16 and on 11-10-16 her mother notified us that she was going to transfer her case elsewhere. The patient's mother feels that shoddy appliances were used, I use [redacted] appliances. [redacted], a division of 3M, is one of the most respected brand for orthodontic appliances. Her statement asserting that I don't know what I'm doing offends me. I extend my best efforts for every patient and for all my years of practice have had no judgements against my level of care nor even claimed. Regarding the account, her total responsibility was for $2,446.00 to be paid with an initial payment of $846.00 on September of 2015 and in 16 monthly payments of $100.00 starting October 2015. As of the time of her daughter's last appointment with me on 10-15-16 she had paid $500.00 of the $1,300.00 due to that date. Keeping appointments was a problem. In the course of 10 months under my care, she had 8 cancelled appointments some of which were not rescheduled on a timely basis by the patient's mother. I advocate that appliances in place without timely professional supervision can be damaging to the dentition and supporting tissues. Failed or cancelled appointments on short notice costs me a loss of productive time. In summary, I believe I have been reasonable and fair in this issue. Regarding the account, I forgive the $800.00 underpayment thru October of 2016.Respectfu y, ROBERT W. DeSHIELDS, D.D.S. RWID/Prn
