Review: I bought a 14k gold ring at roberto's jewelry. I had it tested at a pawn shop and was told it was only 10k. So I took the ring to another pawn shop to be tested to see if the result was the same. The second pawn shop told me the ring was indeed only 10k. I called roberto's and told them what I discovered about the ring. I was told to take the ring back with my original receipt and a written note from the pawn shop that tested the ring. I did as I was told and a worker from roberto's tested the ring in front of me. The ring smudged a pint color and it broke. The man I was dealing with told me the ring was already broken when he applied the liquid they use to test with. That ring had just came off my finger and it was not broken. The man argued with me and said I can not have a refund, that he would just fix the broken ring. Now I have no ring and out $200.Desired Settlement: I want the $200 I originally paid for the ring.

In respond to your letter, customer did call and express her concerns our sales clerk told customer to bring ring in with her invoice. Customer came in the following day and I help her personally I listen to her story and continue to test ring. I explain to her the process and tested the ring in front of her. With the equipment we have in store and at the best of my ability I determine the ring in fact is 14k. After that I told her in order to insure her it was I would sent ring out to an independent lab to perform an x-ray assay Which is more accurate than the acid test and is the industry standard. I also told her that in the event the ring would not be 14k we would oner our guarantee and provide her a full refund, but if the ring comes back 14k. We will stand by our store policy of No Refunds. Since there is nothing wrong with the ring. Customer understood and agree. Therefore I began to write her a claim ticket as I inspected the ring to take in our possession I notice ring was broken, at that time she began to blame me I told I had done all testing in front of her and that was impossible the conversation was going no where therefore I offer to fix it for free. She took her claim ticket and that was it.The ring has been sent out for testing and we are awaiting results usually is with in a week. As soon as we receive results we will notify customer and move forward as previously stated.
