Robison Oil Corporation Reviews (15)

Unethical company
This company has no ethics! Have been with them for a couple years. The price for heating oil and service contract keep increasing. I was on variable rate and noticed the price for recent delivery was too high. They tried to explain the "market rate" and the fact I have a $0.20 discount. Then I pointed out the "market rate" in their calculation become $3.19 vs. $2.71 from government websites, to which there was no answer. Then they threatened that I would lose my service plan if I cancel, even though I paid over $500 for the service plan just a couple month ago on Nov. 20, 2020. I would rather lose money than dealing with this kind of company!

Business responded to the review and issued a refund. The matter is closed.

Review: I am at the end of a one year oil and service contract with Robison. The contract dates were 8/**/14 to 8/**/15. On 7/**/15 I spoke with Quintin B[redacted] and made it clear that I was not likely to continue my contract for the next year. A few days later Robison charged me $407 for a service contract to be effective 8/**/15 - 8/**/**.

I contacted Quintin and "TY" on 8/**/15. They told me that the charge would be credited back to my credit card. This credit was promised to occur between 24 and 48 hours. The credit has not happened.Desired Settlement: I would like this charge refunded immediately. The charge should not have been made. The company's inability to explain the origin of the charge, and their delay in making the refund is unacceptable. There should be no further delay in the refund.

The business has responded. Please see below:Customer was refunded $406.95 on 8/**/2015

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me and the matter has been resolved. That being said, the fact that the company charged me for an additional year of service against my wishes is information that other consumers should know and consider before deciding which oil company to do business with.

Sincerely,

Review: I cancelled my service contract on 10/**/2014 and am due a refund of $555.13. I have not received my refund as of 12 /*/2014. Checking prior complaints this is common practice for Robison oil . I have call on the following dates 11/**/2014 ([redacted] and [redacted] ). 11/**/2014 ([redacted] ) who informed me he was checking with his mgr and I should expect my refund to be "expedited ". 12/*/2014 again spoke with [redacted] he read me an e mail to his mgr again told any day now . This is common pratice at this business. Please help me get my monies. I have other bills to pay . Thank yo in advance.Desired Settlement: A written apology , less than favorable Revdex.com RATING and my REFUND IN FULL ASAP

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me and the matter has been resolved.

Sincerely,

Horrible company . Consistently over priced oil and service . Very poor customer service seems they have a very smug take it or leave it attitude . Do yourself a favor check there pricing for oil and service against any local competitor . You WILL do much better

Review: Due to some billing errors on the part of Robison Oil I currently have a credit of almost $300 on my account. I called Robison yesterday to ask them to send me a check and was told that my money would be returned to me in 6 - 8 weeks. This is not acceptable. I am not in the business of giving away my money for 2 months interest free. If they wish to keep my money more than 1 week I would request that they pay a 20% annual interest on the loan they are taking from me.Desired Settlement: It would be acceptable to get my credit balance refunded to me in the form of a check within 1 week considering that this company is a 20 minutes drive from me. Any amount kept more than 1 week should be subject to a 20% annual fee which represents interest I am charging on this credit that is due to me that Robison has effectively turned into a 2 month loan by refusing to promptly return it to me.

Review: On July **, *015 I did a pre-buy of 3,000 gallons of #* Bio Heating Fuel at a fixed price of $*.399 per gallon from David D[redacted] (sales representative at Robison). Prior to this purchase, I spoke with David several times and reviewed the contract to make sure I understood how the program works.

Specific questions / concerns I was looking to understand:

1) Is there a limit on how many gallons I could purchase?

*) Are their any additional fees for holding my unused gallons?

3) Do my unused gallons ever expire?

4) What are my options if the price drops? Can I buy more at a lower cost at any time?

5) How do I cancel automatic delivery once I have used all my per-purchased gallons?

Robison's website and Purchase Agreement did not seem to address these questions and I wanted to make sure I was not missing some "Fine Print"

David answered all of my questions to my satisfaction as follows:

1) No limit. He specifically gave examples of one lady he just sold 10,000 gallons to saying she is locking in for many years.

*) No. We don't play those type of games.

3) No. You will be on automatic delivery and will get everything you pre-bought.

4) Give me a call anytime and we can lock in more gallons to your account.

5) We would like to keep you as a customer so please call before you use up all your gallons to see what plan makes sense for you going forward. However, if you want to cancel you can after all pre-bought gallons are delivered.

We discussed my annual fuel usage (which averages 1500 gallons per year) and I decided to pre-purchase * years of oil at the time (3,000 gallons) making a credit card payment of $7,41*.91 for the fuel plus tax.

On 10/*/15 Robision did the first auto fill up of my tanks, delivering [redacted] gallons of Bio Fuel. Seeing that prices for fuel had dropped since the summer, I called David on 10/*/15 to see where his pre-buy price was at in case I wanted to purchase additional fuel.

David's first question was how big is my house is and how may gallons do I use per year. As I stated earlier, I told him my annual usage is 1500 gallons. (This is also on the purchase agreement paperwork.) David replied that I can only pre-purchase a maximum of 18 months of oil and to call me in a few months after I have drawn down on my current account balance. I asked if this was a new policy since this was the first time I was ever told about this and it was not in any of the paperwork. I also reminded him that we discussed any restrictions like this before and was told there were none. David said sorry, nothing I can do. Call me in a few months and then hung up on me!

Frustrated and upset that I was lied to, I called back and spoke with his supervisor Monique Felder on 10/*/15. She confirmed that they would only allow customers to purchase 18 months of oil. I stated that this was never stated verbally or anywhere in the Purchase Agreement or website. I told her my paperwork specifically states that my estimated gallons is 1500 per year so why would he allow me to purchase 3000 gallons (750 more than I would use in an 18 month period). Additionally, I told her that David gave examples of customers purchasing years of oil up front. (Much more than I was purchasing!)

Monique apologized and said she would speak with David and get back to me shortly. On 10/**/15 a week has passed and I still did not hear anything from Monique or anyone else from Robison. I called Monique and left a voice message asking her to return my call to follow-up on this issue. To this date, I still have not heard anything from Robison.

The Robision Purchase Agreement requires me to be on automatic delivery and cannot take delivery from any other oil company until all my gallons are used and automatic delivery is canceled. Robison's Purchase Agreement does not state anywhere limitations of pre-purchase gallons now being imposed after the fact! I would have not entered into this contract given the additional unwritten and never disclosed policies now being enforced.

I am willing to provide copies of the actual Purchase Agreement for review.

You may also see their website for more information on their pre-buy stating no restriction on amounts: [redacted]

You will notice under the Pre-buy Protection the following is stated:

When you select Pre-buy Protection you pay a single payment upfront for as much fuel oil as you would like to buy and the oil will be delivered to you throughout the heating season as you need it. The oil is yours to keep. If you do not use it all in one season it will remain on your account for the next season.Desired Settlement: This company is violating their contract by adding additional terms and restrictions never discussed or provided in the Purchase Agreement.

As a settlement, I am willing to pay for the [redacted].* gallons delivered at *.399 per gallon (the much higher than current market price) and want a refund for $6,878.69 for the reaming unused gallons plus 3% sales tax.

Sincerely,

Review: For the second year in a row, they have failed to deliver oil on time on numerous occasions. When called to tell them we are on reserve, they immediately state when the oil was last delivered and when it is scheduled next. That if we run out we should call emergency services. Needless to say, ran out of oil and no heat as of 430am. Called at 5am. Oil was delivered sometime in the morning when we were at work. Got home at 1045 pm from work to find no heat and the house temperature to be 41 degrees. When called, we were told that the night technician was booked. Are you kidding me? Go for another night without heat with single digits???

Had to send 86 year old mother to family bet to avoid any health issues. The service is a disgrace!!Desired Settlement: Oil tank to be filed when needed and HEAT!!!

[redacted] Good morning [redacted], Thank you for your note and for looking into the situation. We will accept the rate change as you suggested. We hope that the situation is resolved and we never have to run into a situation where we have no oil/heat. Thanks, he response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me and the matter has been resolved.

Sincerely,

I live in a two story plus basement house with 4 bedrooms..After living here for more than 45 years, the air ducts, which carry the heating air and the air conditioning had become very clogged. I recently asked Robison to clean the ducts. I couldn't be more pleased with the results. The process took 2 men working 2 day to complete. They were courteous, considerate, diligent and respectful. The heating and air conditioning are now working better than they have been in a long time and my wife;\'s allergies seem to be alleviated.

Review: This is a complaint related to billing and delivery of oil.

On January [redacted] I took a photo of my oil tank reader/meter. The photo shows the tank is more than 3/4 full. My tank is 275 gallons. On January [redacted] I was billed for delivery of 173.6 gallons of oil, which implies my tank was less than 40% full. This is a new tank (and reader/meter) that was installed by Robison in August. Either Robison is over-charging for deliveries that are not made or have installed fault equipment. I reached out to Robison more than 2 weeks ago, and a representative said she would look into it, but has not gotten back to me with a resolution. Since this issue, I have had 3 Robison representatives/technicians at my home for various unrelated issues, and none of these individuals knew about this problem or addressed it.Desired Settlement: I wish to be reimbursed for this delivery and bought out of my service and delivery contract from this company as I do not trust them.

Response:

I spoke to Dave F[redacted], VP of Sales & Marketing, who is familiar with this customer. Upon receipt of the complaint, Mr. F[redacted] was in constant contact with [redacted]. He did inform [redacted] that Robison did not install the oil tank as he had claimed in his complaint. In addition, the most recent email from [redacted] to Dave is from February **, wher[redacted] stated he would call Mr. F[redacted] the next day. [redacted] did not call. Since that time, Mr. F[redacted] has been reaching out to [redacted], as recently as this past Friday, March *, and has had no response. Please advise as how to proceed. Thank you, [redacted]

Review: After completion of work in my house I received an e-mail from sales person [redacted] that any referrals will be reworded by a $100 gift card. I referred [redacted] signed the contract and work on his house was completed. After multiple e-mails and phone calls-from me to no avail company refuses to send a gift card and does not keep the promise.Desired Settlement: Gift card

Sincerely,

Review: In November due to problems with my boiler I contacted Robison and it was determined that the block was cracked. They insisted that the boiler had no warranty because it was built in 2001 and the warranty had expired. I argue that even though it was built in 2001, I did not purchase it until 2006 at which time it was installed. On November **, 2013, a proposal was sent for a new boiler replacement with a total cost of $6,986. I indicated that I did not want to purchase a new one but repair the existing one. On December *, 2013, another proposal was sent for the new block and installation, etc. for $5686. I then proceeded by contacting Burnham directly to confirm my suspicion. They indicated that the warranty begins the day it was purchased and installed not built. Unfortunately the crack was above the water line therefore they would not cover the plate. Robison contacted Burnham and on December *, 2013, and another proposal for $4746 for the block and installation, etc, which I signed and returned and gave 50% deposit. After a couple of weeks I was told that the part had arrived and we scheduled an installation date of December **, 2013. The work was completed on the agreed date and I paid the remaining balance. To my surprise on May *, 2014 I received a letter indicating that a new boiler was installed and that I had to request from Burnham a $700 credit. I then contact Robison questioning why I am getting a letter about a new boiler when the work was to replace the block. At that time I was told that there was an issue with the block and a new boiler was installed. This was done without my consent. I never approved the installation of a new boiler. If there was an issue, I should have been made aware of it prior to the installation which would have allowed me to make the decision to allow Robinson to replace it or an alternative provider. I was at home all day while the workers were here. On May **, 2014 I received a bill for the installation of the boiler for $2,595. I contacted Robison again because it was bad enough that the boiler was replaced without my consent and now the cost of the new boiler was $355 more than was quoted back in December. On June **, 2014, Robison replied stated that the difference in pricing is due to that the other boiler was no longer available.Desired Settlement: Either Robison covers the difference between the installation of the plate which I originaly signed for and the new boiler or they return the difference between the original new boiler quoted price from December and the May [redacted] one which is $355.

Sincerely,

Review: After several customer service issues with [redacted] (no delivery when requested several times, inability to service tank in a timely manner in an emergency situation, and sending collection notice when account was current- paid in full) I requested automatic payments disabled so I could shop around for another provider. I came home one day (late November) to a full tank and a bill at my door for a non negotiated rate. I did not want this oil, nor do I want to pay for this delivery, however I understand I'm stuck with it. After several calls, I finally speak with [redacted] - who I expressed my unhappiness with the situation to, and request at the very least, the price adjusted. He reduced the amount, and offered a better price to be applied if I enrolled in a plan. I declined and told him I was taking my business to [redacted]. I go to pay my final bill with [redacted] and see a new service contract fee. I call again, and [redacted] tells me to just pay for the delivery and disregard the contract fee, which I did. Again, I came home today to a delivery from [redacted]. This time I will not pay. I am no longer their customer, I did not request this oil, I did not need a fill, it was only a 45 gallon top off. I'm very unhappy. They can come siphon it out if they want, though the bio fuel they delivered is not what was in the tank... Regardless I refuse to pay.Desired Settlement: To not be responsible for the cost of this delivery and to be finally removed as a customer - no more unwanted deliveries!!!

Review: I currently have an annual service contract with Robison Oil which includes an annual cleaning. After delaying it all year they were supposed to do a cleaning on 11/**/2015 . My wife waited all day for them but at 3:30 she had to leave for an appointment. The service man was supposed to arrive between 9Am and 12 PM. He apparently showed up at 4:30 and complained no one was home. My wife advised Robison she was leaving at 3:30. Prior to that she called several times to tell them that she had to leave in the afternoon and was repeatedly assured the service technician was on his way. Since [redacted] they have refused to schedule another cleaning. There is only another month until the end of the year and the contract runs out. Robison has made it clear that they have no intention of performing the cleaning before the end of the contract. I am requesting a full refund for my service contract since Robison never fulfilled their obligationsDesired Settlement: Full refund of annual service contract fee

Sincerely,

Review: I signed up for oil delivery with this company in june of 2014 and it was a year long contract which I was told was until june of 2015. I called up the customer service representative Dave Duroma in july of 2015 to discuss pricing for the coming season and I inquired if I was obligated to buy anything else from the company. Dave said, absolutely not. He said he would get in touch with me about pricing in the future and I never heard from him. I got an oil delivery 11/**/15 for 109 gallons from Robison after Dave told me I was not obigated to buy anything else. I called him a few mintues after the delivery and he told me I never cancelled the contract. I told him I was not paying the bill and that the price was above market price. He told me he would speak to his supervisor and get back to me. It is november [redacted] and I still have not heard from Dave or a company representative. Dave kept threatening me that I agreed to a contract and that he had an audio recording of it. Again I spoke to him in July and he told me I am not obligated to buy anything from them and that my contract period was over. I will never advise anyone to sign up with this company.Desired Settlement: I dont want to pay for something I did not order. I planned on buying from another company and they delayed that transaction. I should not have to pay for there sneaky business practice.
