I took my skid steer to Rob"s Hydraulics because the bucket wasn't working properly. Rob's Hydraulics work on construction equipment. I assumed they would know what the problem was and fix it. Obviously they DID NOT and they charged me for hours of looking for a problem and then gave me a bill for $2159.95. I had NO PROBLEMS with ANYTHING else on my skid steer ! I had NO PROBLEMS with wires, breaks, and other things they searched for and replaced and they were NOT authorized to do so! It clearly states at the top of this bill why I brought my skid steer in to Rob's Hydraulics! The bucket wasn't working properly. Nothing else! If they were professionals in what they do they would have known what caused this problem and went straight to the source of the problem and fix it. Instead they spent hours searching and looking at different things that DID NOT cause the bucket to not work as it should and then charged me for all those hours. If I had known this I would never had taken my equipment there to begin with! They replaced things and did things they were not Authorized to do! They NEVER called and explained what they were going to charge me! I received an outrageous bill that I disputed right from the start!!!!! I had absolutely NO choice but to pay the bill to get my equipment bake because I need it to do my work!!!! NO ONE takes equipment in to a shop explaining the problem and expects to receive a bill of this amount for things that were not authorized! Also on 6-11-2014 I called Rob Hydraulics and explained that the skid steer had the same problem as before! If the problem continues I will have to take it to another shop to get the problem fixed! I believe Rob Hydraulics DID NOT know where the problem was coming from as any company that claims to work on construction equipment should know! I agree to the Alternator repair and the circuit breaker repair and NOTHING else. They should have called before replacing and searching for a problem they knew nothing about and charging $2159.95 for a problem that possibly isn't even fixed! I plan on contacting the Attorney General's office concerning this company! I believe it may be against the Law for a mechanic to do something like this! I would not recommend anyone taking equipment to this company! Desired Settlement I want my money returned excluding the hours to replace the circuit breaker and alternator repair . Thank you, [redacted]Business Response We are aware of the problem and we told the customer to bring the machine back and we would repair the machine under warranty. This problem that is going on with the machine is only happening after hours of use(customer states it stops traveling) it is not a problem that we can trouble shoot and fix because it does not fail when we operate. We made repairs on all the electrical issues on the machine to try and prevent the issue the customer explained was going on. We made all these repairs to the machine and explained to the customer clearly all along the way the issues we were finding and the costs involved. We also deducted several hours of labor to help the customer on the final Invoice. We also have a Invoice that we noted all the issues and costs involved that the customer signed and agreed too. We will be more than glad to make the repairs needed to the machine under warranty if anything we did has failed. Again like I said we made the repairs and ran the machine for over 3o min in true working conditions and it did not fail. when the customer picked up the machine we told him to run the machine and if he had any issues to bring it back. We stand behind everything we do and have run an honest business for 18 years now. Skid steers are a costly machine to work on they are built small and compact by the factory. Extra parts must be removed to get to component you are working on. The cab on this machine must be raised to get to all hydraulic and travel components. This machine someone had removed the cylinders that raised the cab so we had to raise manually. AGAIN BRING IT BACK AND WE WILL REPAIR UNDER WARRANTY!!!!!!!!!!!!!! DID I SAY BRING IT BACK AND WE WOULD REPAIR UNDER WARRANTY!!!!! Consumer Response NO! YOU DID NOT TELL ME IT WOULD COST OVER $2000.00 TO FIX THIS MACHINE! YOU DID NOT CALL AND DISCUSS ANY AMOUNT! IF YOU HAD I WOULD HAVE TOLD YOU NOT TO DO SO! You told me to check under the hood for a relay switch when I called to complain! And I have witnesses to that! You never told me to bring it back! That is an absolutely ridiculous price and a rip of! If you knew what you were doing you would not have had to search for problems and with this machine! You should have know what would cause the problem and fix it! That's what I thought would happen! You didn't know what was wrong with it then and you don't know now! I want my money back! once again I DID NOT AUTHORIZE YOU to do any other repairs and in the end charge me over $2000.00! I dont need you to tell me how much it costs to fix equipment when it breaks down! I have been dealing with equipment since I was fifteen years old! But this is a first in having a mechanic do this sort of thing! There should be a law against what you did and I am looking into that! I will make the Attorney General's Office aware of this matter and they will know what to do!Final Business Response We have been a dealer for this machine for over 11 years we have 7 mechanics with over 25 years experience each, we work on 25 machines like this a year, and do over 6000 repair work orders. We know what we are doing and do it well. You were told the repair costs all along the way, and knew our hourly rate, we cut the bill to help you out and be fair. You signed our work order saying you agreed to all repairs and paid the bill. I have been in buisness for 20 years and never been to court one single time for a repair issue. Some customers cannot be satisfied. AGAIN ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS BRING MACHINE BACK AND WE WILL REPAIR FOR FREE UBDER WARRANTY. I AM DONE DISCUSSING THIS MATTER
