Review: I went to Roca Dentist for a regular cleaning with my insurance. The doctor told me that any out-of-pack procedure would let me know advance. He did a regular dental check up on me WITHOUT letting me it was a dental check procedure (I am a regular customer who don't know that the doctor was doing). He later charge the dental check up on me for $70.Desired Settlement: To maintain my credit, I sent a check with $70 to Dr. Roca. I hope he can return the $70 I sent since dental checkup was a procedure I did not authorized.

The patient that has filed this complaint was seen in our office as a new patient on December 19, 2012. An initial exam and prophylaxis was done. He was told that insurance companies usually cover this procedure but if there is a balance we will send you a bill. However; he neglected to tell us that he had seen another dentist for the same procedure within six months. His prophylaxis was covered but not the initial exam. He told us that he did not authorize an exam. I told him that all new patients require an exam. The patient's wife then talked with our front desk requesting that we change the ADA code so that the insurance company would pay. She was informed that this was insurance fraud and we would not do it. The patient called again reiterating that we did not tell him about the exam. I told him again that all new patients get an exam and that it is unethical for the doctor not to do the exam, and that he would be financially responsible. He said he would not pay it and I told him that he would force me to send his account to collections.
