The supplier made several statements in their replyThey failed to also respond to the many areas where they are in breach of contract, nor attempted to address all the issues outlined Since this complaint, I still have a house without any progress, that is not safe for my family, including the failure to even replace the railing to the stairsFurthermore, two additional suppliers have reviewed the work completed, and found the wall/closet built was not square (see attached photo) and could not even hang a cabinet on itDrywall missing around door frame, incorrect material used for mudding, failure to use tape and additional screws to prevent walls from sagging, failure to cut out a large portion of drywall, only using improperly sized drywall pieces, causing additional ripples and cracks in the wallLastly, putting in a drain so high in the shower base, that the new base rocks, causing several cracks near screw holes (shown to them prior to their quitting) and was never flush with the floor (was also pointed out to them prior to quitting)In addition, they tried to use "play sand" under the base when the instructions and other contractors pointed out it should be mortar The mix of poor workmanship, failure to protect the home from unforeseeable risks to potential toxic substances (aka failure to hang plastic) during demo to prevent debris from being all over the house and my toddler from being injuredthe list of complaints against Rock Remodeling just keeps growing I have additional photos and even a video of the poor workmanshipI will now need to pay for everything to be redoneIt's been nearly months and we're still living in chaos and an unsafe home Please let me know if you need additional photos or documentation that supports these claims Regards, [redacted]

Hi ***, This has been moved to an attorney, to help through the resolution process I hope they are able to resolve things quickly I appreciate all your help!! Kind regards, ***

We are truly sorry that we have not been able to satisfy the expectations of the homeowner, as we've stated in multiple meetings, site visits and email communications We understand that leaving a job site unfinished is not desirable for anybody as we always seek to better our
community. When we were first contacted about a dirty work site and the threat of the possibility of any asbestos, the project manager and an owner of the company responded immediately by visiting the job site When we arrived the job site was clean and nothing looked out of the ordinary from a typical construction projectThe homeowner said her partner had already cleaned up the mess We asked for photos so we could hold our crews accountable and asked why our project manager was not contacted immediately following the plumber's departure in the middle of the afternoon The homeowner also expressed concerns about the possibility of asbestos tile which we did not see at first glance until the homeowner lifted up the linoleum revealing another layer of tile underneath that was not disclosed to us before work began There was no work scheduled for the floor in the original scope of work We made several offers to put the family up in a hotel room for the night in order to take proper precautions, but the offer was refused We also made the offer to get cleaners in the house the next day to take care of any dust that they were concerned about That was refused as well.We also offered our condolences and sympathy to the daughter for the potential that she had hurt her foot She seemed to be walking fine that evening as we were leaving Our project manager asked her the next day about her foot and she did not seem to recollect hurting her foot. When we left that initial evening the homeowner seemed satisfied with where we were at and was in good spirits the next morning when we arrived. We understand the homeowner is concerned about missing days of work There was a day where the homeowner was made aware a day in advance that we would not be able to work the next dayThere was also a half day where our subcontractor had a personal emergency that he had to leave early for. When we sensed the homeowner was still dissatisfied, we sent the original salesperson to hear her out and to document a new plan and next steps onto how to satisfy her expectations and because the scope had changed substantially from day To try and get the homeowner to a better spot we discounted most of her changed items - doing most at "good will" The homeowner then refused to pay for any change orders. When the homeowner refused to pay for any change orders she was notified that we would have to stop work until terms agreeable were in place The two owners tried to schedule a meeting first thing the next morning so work could continue as planned, but the homeowner indicated she could not make it We then scheduled the meeting for later in the evening At our meeting, we discussed 1) Does she want us to continue doing the work in her dissatisfaction and 2) If we continue doing work, how do we finish strong leaving her in a place of satisfaction She said she wanted us to continue doing the work and she asked us to come up with a plan on how to continue moving forward offering only that she did not want to pay for any changes. That evening we submitted to her two options so we could continue work the next day Option 1) A Change Order which documented doing all changes at "good will" and no charge It also consisted of a progress payment plan to hold everybody accountable since 90% of the work had been completed to date and only 20% had been paid for Option 2) We did not want to assume that she still wanted us to continue working so we gave her a "Work Release" that would have her paying 65% of the original scope even though 90% had been completed We also advised the homeowner to get the tile floor tested and remediated, if need be, since it was still of obvious concern. The homeowner did not agree to either nor offered any reasonable counter offer Due to not coming to agreeable terms and refusal to move forward with a change order that affects much of the remaining work, we have had to stop work and leave the site in an incomplete state Inevitably, terminating the contract. We do regret that we have not been able to satisfy the expectations of the homeowner as our desire and mission is to better the community around us We are also grateful for her feedback, as we've expressed in email exchanges, as we believe it sharpens us as a company.Andrew C***Rock Remodeling
