[redacted] After a year and half or more on this project, this is not an effort of intimidation to get a few hundred dollars off of an invoiceThis is about getting resolution for a faulty motor? We received the opinion of multiple mechanics and performance shop all leery of the work performed and no shops willing to reuse the head or block? The decision to not utilize this motor was not done lightly or inexpensively? This motor would not have only destroyed itself but other auxiliary systems of our truckThe block and head cannot be utilized in stock let alone performance applications.? It appears that Rock Solid Fab Shop has spent more energy in discrediting our character and that of [redacted] then defending his machine work? He has voiced his opinions that we are transients, mechanically incompetent, and untrustworthy of payment? We believe that he planned using these as his defense to discredit our claim after he made an uncorrectable mistake in the assembly of the motor as he was hastily moving his shop and home from Wisconsin to Colorado? We believe that that his presenting a sloppy final product and defending it with discrediting his consumer makes him a dangerous proprietor as far as consumer protection is concerned.? ? If we had more trust in the product we received, we would have installed it in our truck, ended our struggle with this project and moved forward in having a reliable tow vehicle and get back to traveling the United States for work? We however have the following that prevented us from trusting the motor:1) ? ? ? We did not receive any photo documentation of the fully assembled installation of the motor? Despite ***’s intuition that the motor was slammed together as the shop was being moved, [redacted] continued to advocate that the motor be completed, paid for and utilized? The last assembly picture we received was 10/26/and parts were still on the bench? On 10/28/we received pictures of the motor wrapped in plastic on a trailer? We never received pictures of a fully assembled motorHowever, after receiving the final product (one that destroyed our head and our block from further use) we would have financially been better off to have refused the product and lost the thousands of dollars in parts (including the Colt Cam) than to have paid his socking invoice price.2) ? ? ? Another concern is that if this motor was actually this awesome and “the one motor” why isn’t any of this project on Rock Solid’s [redacted] or webpage? ? He included pictures of the first pistons that he coated for us on April 14, ? Nothing from this motor build is included in his proud pictured products? Nate informed us he wanted to jump-start more fabrication efforts in his new Colorado shop? Why, if this motor turned out correctly, would it not be used to promote his business in Colorado?3) ? ? ? We had two mechanics (three including ***) collaborating enough concern over the motor to remove the fabricated intake manifold and then the head of the motorAfter the conclusion of three individuals, [redacted] consented to having the head removed (each removal is $head gasket)? This decision was not taken lightly each verification point is more money lost.4) ? ? ? After removing the head, the three mechanics saw further evidence of faulty machine work in the honing of the cylinders and the coating of the pistons (which was wiping off)? No further disassembly was done to the block or the head in Kansas.5) ? ? ? We contacted a few shops in Colorado as to who would be the place to take the motor? [redacted] was the shop that continued to present as the shop [redacted] verbal comments were enough for even [redacted] that this motor was not going to be placed into the truck despite the chance that all funds to Rock Solid be lost? Per this assessment and that of other shops neither the head nor the block can/should be utilized in any other projectsWe were even told that selling these items would be inadvisable.Proposed resolution:If Rock Solid Fabrication feels strongly that his machine work is acceptable then our next resolution proposal seems to be a mutually beneficial resolution and would prevent us from bringing lawsuit.1) ? ? ? We propose that Rock Solid buy back the parts and reimburse for his labor? We return the fabricated intake manifold, mismatched bolts and other parts paid for on the invoice dated 09/12/? If he trusts his welds and the amount of silicone it took to seal to the angle-cut block, then he can utilize it to build another motor and continue the fabrication goals of his Colorado shop.2) ? ? ? Rock solid provide a settlement of $6,096.87a? ? ? Reimburse us for the $invoice priceb? ? ? Plus “Inconel” valves we paid for in cash on 04/20/$355.22c? ? ? Less [redacted] pistons $758.00d? ? ? Plus piston we had to replace due to the cutting of only one piston ? $108.99e? ? ? Less Push Rods $250.00f? ? ? ? Less main studs $255.00g? ? ? Less H series Rod Bearings $(We asked for these specifically? We will pay.)h? ? ? Less H Series Main Bearings $(We asked for these specifically? We will pay.)i? ? ? ? Rock Solid buy for $the 12v head from our family motor we provided for this project? If he trusts his work, he can utilize the head to build another motor and recoup his money for time spent? This includes the disputed “Inconel” valves? It does not including our rockers and posts.j? ? ? ? Rock Solid buy for $the 5.9L 24v [redacted] “international” block? If he holds that the angle of the block is correct, he can utilize the block to build another motor and recoup his research time and his machine work timeBy having to cut only one piston, we cannot see how the block is not cut at an angle that cannot be utilized in stock or performance applications.3) ? ? ? We have received in the mail the $check that is meant to cover the coating ($125) and the cutting of valve reliefs (another $125) work that was not performed (items numbered & on copy of invoice)? We are holding this check and will not be redeeming it as we do not want it considered that we have accepted his restitution as a complete and satisfactory resolution to the issue? This amount still remains in the above calculations and need for reimbursement4) ? ? ? We would deliver the parts to a neutral location in Silt, Colorado? This would be to off-set ? for the parts that he returns as he unpacks in Silt, Colorado and the delivery of the motor in Goodland, Kansas even though the agreement to deliver was an agreed concession because the motor was not ready 09/12/when we had expense for transporting items from the Wisconsin area? The need to deliver was caused by Rock Solid’s focus on his move and continued delay of the project? Response to Allegations:Missing Parts:Upon arriving in Colorado we realized that we had not delivered all of the customer’s parts when we dropped off the motor All parts have since been sent to the customer All parts were of the quality requested, and parts given for the build were usedThere was a part-time employee in the shop at that time who can verify that. Refusing to talk to customer: The customer states that the last communication from us was on or around November 16th On November 15th at 11:a.mI called the customer to try to discuss things after he sent an angry text about the bolts on the intake not matching, and he threatened me This was after I denied his claim to refund money for the block not being painted (there was not a charge for this to begin with) and about paint being on the rocker armsThey state at that time they were told to contact our lawyer This is false We told them that we would no longer have phone conversations with them or talk with them in person unless there was some sort of legal presence there We never told them to contact our lawyer as we do not have a lawyerWe have never contacted a lawyer for anything business relatedSince then we were in contact with the customer on November 23rd and 28th via emailWe felt that email was okay because what is said is recorded. In regards to not accepting messages from them on ***, it is true that we blocked them During the time that we have done business with the customer he has called and sent text messages at all hours of the day, seven days a week He has also made statements in the past about going to “scare” and “rough” somebody up to get what he wantedDuring the time that we have know the customer he has bullied many shops into refunds and discounts.Response to Auto Autopsy:In response to the report from the autopsy; the machining on the block was okayed by the customer as can be seen in the text messages that we have As for the uneven surface there is a ring around the cylinder to increase cramping pressure around the combustion chamber, which is common practice on engines making more than two times stock power levels The customer was fully aware of this The deck heights of the pistons are completely different than what I measured Which means there is something wrong with his technique or they were tampered with when they were disassembled in Kansas The oil cooler was given to us with an explanation that it was cleaned out with gasolineThe oil pump bolts were more than likely loosened during the disassembly in Kansas, as they were not loose in our shop.To the comment that the customer was charged for new billet lifters (tappets), these were lifters that the customer had purchased months in advance and had been run in two different motors There was no charge on his invoice for these. The inconel exhaust valves were installed in the project in April as stated before Therefore, they had miles on them before the motor blew up due to his incompetence So, they were reused in this project They are inconel *** brand valves for a marine *** He is welcome to order an inconel *** brand marine *** valve and see that they are identical. The valve job was sealing, and every valve was checked with a vacuum gauge As to the valve guides being broken, this is preposterous The head was inspected by a second shop after the customer blew his motor up in June A text is available saying that the other shop found nothing wrong with the headIt is commonplace to add a little bit of sealer to the valve seals during installation.Resolution: The customer was given the final invoice in September when they picked up parts that were not needed for the build This was so they could look it over and come up with the money to make the final paymentThey were told that since the job wasn’t job wasn’t fully finished there might be some slight changes When going over the invoice again after delivery it was noted that one item had not been completed that there was a charge for In talking with the customer they were told that they would be refunded for the that work, and the money has been sent to them

[redacted]
After a year and half or more on this project, this is not an effort of intimidation to get a few hundred dollars off of an invoice. This is about getting resolution for a faulty motor.  We received the opinion of multiple mechanics and performance shop all leery of the work performed and no shops willing to reuse the head or block.  The decision to not utilize this motor was not done lightly or inexpensively.  This motor would not have only destroyed itself but other auxiliary systems of our truck. The block and head cannot be utilized in stock let alone performance applications. It appears that Rock Solid Fab Shop has spent more energy in discrediting our character and that of [redacted] then defending his machine work.   He has voiced his opinions that we are transients, mechanically incompetent, and untrustworthy of payment.  We believe that he planned using these as his defense to discredit our claim after he made an uncorrectable mistake in the assembly of the motor as he was hastily moving his shop and home from Wisconsin to Colorado.   We believe that that his presenting a sloppy final product and defending it with discrediting his consumer makes him a dangerous proprietor as far as consumer protection is concerned.  If we had more trust in the product we received, we would have installed it in our truck, ended our struggle with this project and moved forward in having a reliable tow vehicle and get back to traveling the United States for work.  We however have the following that prevented us from trusting the motor:1)      We did not receive any photo documentation of the fully assembled installation of the motor.  Despite [redacted]’s intuition that the motor was slammed together as the shop was being moved, [redacted] continued to advocate that the motor be completed, paid for and utilized.  The last assembly picture we received was 10/26/2016 and parts were still on the bench.  On 10/28/2016 we received pictures of the motor wrapped in plastic on a trailer.  We never received pictures of a fully assembled motor. However, after receiving the final product (one that destroyed our head and our block from further use) we would have financially been better off to have refused the product and lost the thousands of dollars in parts (including the Colt Cam) than to have paid his socking invoice price.2)      Another concern is that if this motor was actually this awesome and “the one motor” why isn’t any of this project on Rock Solid’s [redacted] or webpage?  He included pictures of the first pistons that he coated for us on April 14, 2016.  Nothing from this motor build is included in his proud pictured products.  Nate informed us he wanted to jump-start more fabrication efforts in his new Colorado shop.  Why, if this motor turned out correctly, would it not be used to promote his business in Colorado?3)      We had two mechanics (three including [redacted]) collaborating enough concern over the motor to remove the fabricated intake manifold and then the head of the motor. After the conclusion of three individuals, [redacted] consented to having the head removed (each removal is $150 head gasket).  This decision was not taken lightly each verification point is more money lost.4)      After removing the head, the three mechanics saw further evidence of faulty machine work in the honing of the cylinders and the coating of the pistons (which was wiping off).  No further disassembly was done to the block or the head in Kansas.5)      We contacted a few shops in Colorado as to who would be the place to take the motor.  [redacted] was the shop that continued to present as the go-to shop. [redacted] verbal comments were enough for even [redacted] that this motor was not going to be placed into the truck despite the chance that all funds to Rock Solid be lost.  Per this assessment and that of other shops neither the head nor the block can/should be utilized in any other projects.
