In respose to Mr [redacted] complaintWe do not find any wrong doing on our partWe inspect every item coming in and if there are any issues found we make note to protect our selvesThe Jeans that the customer wants to claim had what looked like material layer loss but not all of itIn this case we have seen a lot of clothes come in made of natural fibers such as wool, silk, feathers, leather or cotton that are notorious for having moth, carpet beetle or fungal damage due to its natural fibersMr Mokaya dropped off the jeans on 4/18/2016, it was not until 6/02/that he said he noticed the damage so he brought them backHe said he did not look at the pants since, which was days! But, the customer ALWAYS inspects his clothes each and every item before he leaves, my question would be why did he not notice then, during his pick up time? The type of damage that he is showing would not indicate any kind of mechanical damage or chemical damage that would be possible on our partIf it was Mechanical such as a tear, snag, then it would NOT be "SELECTIVE" on only part of the material and leave another cross section of material bare! If it was mechanical like a machine issue it would sometimes repeat itself on other items creating the same damage over and over and we did not have thatIf it was chemical, well thats easy, we DO NOT use any chemicals that would remove only a layer of the material and leave a "cross section" of the materialDenim is a sturdy cotton warp-faced textile in which the weft passes under two or more warp threadsThis twill weaving produces a diagonal ribbingThe material left in the customers pants is showing a layer of cross weaving thread left Its 100% cotton and no chemical we carry would be "selective" on destroying itThe only chemicals we have in our cleaning process are detergents and spotting agents, they are ALL safe on ALL fabrics and DO NOT DESTROY DENIMHowever, Moth and Carpet Beetle damage CAN Thin layers and create holes in natural fibers, showing a layer of material missing, cotton and wool being very common to this kind of damageWe have an inspection process to make sure every item is cleaned and pressed correctlyIf we notice any issues we correct them or let our customers knowBefore any item is bagged the item is checked for pressing and any loose buttons, loose seams or spots that did not come out and we make the corrections then bag the item once its checked and passed inspectionIn this case the item DID pass inspection and was assmebled and bagged for the customer to pick upThe customer then comes in to pick up and he checks his order Looking at his clothes before it goes out, so it passed another inspectionIt was not until a month and a half until he says he looked at his jeans and found the damageWe are not saying thing do not happen in the cleaning process because occasionaly they do, in ANY dry cleaning business there are issues with processing clothing occasionalyWe would not hesitate taking responsibility for damaging clothing since we would not want to destroy a relationship over a single piece of clothingThat would not make sense over one piece when we could maintain the relationship with the customer to continue cleaning clothes for that individual and recoup the amount owed in a few cleaningsOur business is built from repeat business thats the only way to maintain our businessIf it were a "one time" business deal NO dry cleaners would stay openWe Understand thatBut we do not accept responsibility because we know we did not do itWe have a return policy of days in which the customer has to make any claimes on their order and his exceeds that time periodThe reason for that time frame is that ANYTHING can happen between then and nowWe even make exceptions to the rule if a customer did bring something back and it shows that it is obvious mechanical/chemical damage that definitly MATCHES what could happen with our equipment, but its rare that customers ever do thatWe also will bring the issue of our mistake up to the customer at pick up if we found that we did damage the item during cleaning and offer repair, payment or creditRepair, Payment and credit is our policy to handle issues that may happenWe would not end a relationship over $He seemed to always not be in a pleasent mood and always bitter over cost of his ordersThe last one was over alterations and he decided he was not going to pick them up, Thats when he goes home and finds his jeans in "damaged" conditionWe asked him not to come back before because he was never happy but still continues to come back and demands discounts and claimes we over charge himThis time we decided enough was enough!

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that the response would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
Griffith cleaners has decided to deny responsibility also sighting other issues that don't apply to a damaged property. I need them to know that looking at cloths when picking them from their end is not inspection. One does not remove cloths from inside the hanged bag for inspection. This is where I have been taking my clothes for over four years.  Why could I damage a jeans and not even a suit which is much more expensive.  They are alleging some issues which I never knew existed.
If they continue to deny responsibility I'm ready to spend more than a jeans worth. I will move to court for the judge to decide. It is not a question of one jeans but responsibility of damaged property.  There is no need of Griffiths smearing me with mud with other issues that never existed before these.
Regards,

In respose to Mr. [redacted] complaint. We do not find any wrong doing on our part. We inspect every item coming in and if there are any issues found we make note to protect our selves. The Jeans that the customer wants to claim had what looked like material layer loss...

but not all of it. In this case we have seen a lot of clothes come in made of natural fibers such as wool, silk, feathers, leather or cotton that are notorious for having moth, carpet beetle or fungal damage due to its natural fibers. Mr Mokaya dropped off the jeans on 4/18/2016, it was not until 6/02/2016 that he said he noticed the damage so he brought them back. He said he did not look at the pants since, which was 46 days! But, the customer ALWAYS inspects his clothes each and every item before he leaves, my question would be why did he not notice then, during his pick up time? The type of damage that he is showing would not indicate any kind of mechanical damage or chemical damage that would be possible on our part. If it was Mechanical such as a tear, snag, then it would NOT be "SELECTIVE" on only part of the material and leave another cross section of material bare! If it was mechanical like a machine issue it would sometimes repeat itself on other items creating the same damage over and over and we did not have that. If it was chemical, well thats easy, we DO NOT use any chemicals that would remove only a layer of the material and leave a "cross section" of the material. Denim is a sturdy cotton warp-faced textile in which the weft passes under two or more warp threads. This twill weaving produces a diagonal ribbing. The material left in the customers pants is showing a layer of cross weaving thread left.  Its 100% cotton and no chemical we carry would be "selective" on destroying it. The only chemicals we have in our cleaning process are detergents and spotting agents, they are ALL safe on ALL fabrics and DO NOT DESTROY DENIM...... However, Moth and Carpet Beetle damage CAN Thin layers and create holes in natural fibers, showing a layer of material missing, cotton and wool being very common to this kind of damage. We have an inspection process to make sure every item is cleaned and pressed correctly. If we notice any issues we correct them or let our customers know. Before any item is bagged the item is checked for pressing and any loose buttons, loose seams or spots that did not come out and we make the corrections then bag the item once its checked and passed inspection. In this case the item DID pass inspection and was assmebled and bagged for the customer to pick up. The customer then comes in to pick up and he checks his order Looking at his clothes before it goes out, so it passed another inspection. It was not until a month and a half until he says he looked at his jeans and found the damage. We are not saying thing do not happen in the cleaning process because occasionaly they do, in ANY dry cleaning business there are issues with processing clothing occasionaly. We would not hesitate taking responsibility for damaging clothing since we would not want to destroy a relationship over a single piece of clothing. That would not make sense over one piece when we could maintain the relationship with the customer to continue cleaning clothes for that individual and recoup the amount owed in a few cleanings. Our business is built from repeat business thats the only way to maintain our business. If it were a "one time" business deal NO dry cleaners would stay open. We Understand that. But we do not accept responsibility because we know we did not do it. We have a return policy of 30 days in which the customer has to make any claimes on their order and his exceeds that time period. The reason for that time frame is that ANYTHING can happen between then and now. We even make exceptions to the rule if a customer did bring something back and it shows that it is obvious mechanical/chemical damage that definitly MATCHES what could happen with our equipment, but its rare that customers ever do that. We also will bring the issue of our mistake up to the customer at pick up if we found that we did damage the item during cleaning and offer repair, payment or credit. Repair, Payment and credit is our policy to handle issues that may happen. We would not end a relationship over $57.00. He seemed to always not be in a pleasent mood and always bitter over cost of his orders. The last one was over alterations and he decided he was not going to pick them up, Thats when he goes home and finds his jeans in "damaged" condition. We asked him not to come back before because he was never happy but still continues to come back and demands discounts and claimes we over charge him. This time we decided enough was enough!
