Rockville Garage Service Reviews (1)

Review: [redacted], owner Rockville Garage Service, was contacted on a recommendation through [redacted]'s List to install two garage door openers and adjust one door so that the door touched the floor. He said that he could do the job for $ 250.00. I asked him more than once to come and look and he said that he did not need to look because they were professionals. He came on June 22, 2013--brought two men to do the job--and wrote the contract for $ 300.00 after they had finished. I reminded him that the cost should be $ 250.00 He said I did not tell him that the garage floor was not level. I asked why he did not come to look and agreed that I would pay another $ 25.00 which he agreed to. It is a little better but still not completely touching the floor of the garage. I called him in a week to tell him that the door was malfunctioning--going up and down and refusing to stop. He said they needed to change the sensors to the bottom rather than the top. I have made repeated calls to him and he has not returned. He said he is busy. I had a trash can in the way one day and I had to make a frantic effort to stop the door from getting bent out of shape by hitting the button too late. The door is now bent at the top and one day it may be my head. This is a dangerous situation.Desired Settlement: I would like a refund of $ 275.00 so that I can hire someone to properly install the door openers, to adjust the one door to make it close level with the floor, and remove the dent made in the one door by the poor workmanship.

[redacted] <[email protected]>1:11 PM (28 minutes ago)to meHi [redacted], in my defense to this complaint, i'll like to state what happened. I was contacted by [redacted] to install to garage door openers at her house. I gave her a price for $250 for the installation, she did ask me to come and look at the garage door and I told her that we can install the openers and we don't need to come in and look at the garage door. We agreed on the price and were ready to go.

When I got there on the day of the install, here garage door was completely a mess. She had no room in the garage door. It was packed with vending machines all kinds of things you could imagine. There was no way we could install garage door opener in that garage because of all the things in there. So I told my guys to help her move all the stuff out of the garage and they were heavy, some of them we couldn't move because it would take hours but we managed to move everything as much as possible. We did the garage door installation and everything was working fine. I told her I would have to charge her extra $50 for moving all the stuff because of the time and I was going to pay the workers for the extra time it took. We finally both agreed on $25 and that's what she paid. So at the end she paid $275. We couldn't put her photo sensors on the bottom of each side of the garage were it was supposed to be because there was so much stuff in the way and the sensors won't and therefore the garage won't close and I explained it to her and she said it was ok.

A week later, the garage door was going up and down because something must have hit the sensors where we put it and they became unaligned. She called me and told me what was going on. I came down to her house the second time and I fixed it within a minute. I explained to her that she has so much stuff in the garage and once the sensors have anything in it's view, it stops the door from opening and closing. I told her that she should clean out her garage and remove all the stuff that's in the way of the sensors and call me back so we can put the sensors at the bottom where they're supposed to be and she said ok. The last time she called me, she said she already took the stuff out of her garage and I said that's great that I will find time in my schedule to come down and put the sensors back to give me sometime. The next thing I was complaint on homeadvisor.com that I haven't finished the job I started and that she wants her money back. Mean while I told her about the garage a long time ago and that if I keep coming back, i'll have to charge her. After reading her complaint, I just decided to ignore her and move on with my life. If she wants her money back, she can call me directly, she has my phone number and i'll give her $125 for one of the openers that she wants the sensors at the bottom of the garage. She's one of those customers that are looking for businesses to take advantage of and get work done for free. I don't have time to waste to minor issues like that, i'll rather give her $125 and not hear from her again.

I am rejecting this response because:The business has not sent the $ 125.00 check that he states that he will send to get rid of me. I use one of the sides of the garage to move my car in and out; so, there is ample space to work in. They did not move anything to my knowledge except a small chest. I offered to move it and he said they would move it. The $ 50.00 charge according to him and the receipt was for adjusting the door. He said I did not tell him that the garage floor was uneven; so, I paid him $ 25.00 in spite of the fact that he did not come to assess the job. And, it still needs more adjusting to touch the floor. I never told him to put sensors at the top. The vending machine is still in the garage on the opposite side and it does not interfere with properly installing the sensor. I do not want work for free; I want the job done professionally when I pay for it.

Regards,
