I had purchased a 2017 RAV 4 LE from Rocky Mount Toyota on December 30, 2016. I have never bought a vehicle from Rocky Mount, but decided to go local. My salesman, [redacted], who was with me when I drove the LE model was very nice. However, before I even went to look for a vehicle, I was told by my fiancé to always ask if the wheels were alloy and not plastic. So, after the test drive, that was the question I asked. [redacted] said, "yes", to my question if the vehicle had alloy wheels. After the first negotiation, I had made a call to my finance' who first asked if the vehicle had alloy wheels, I said yes. After I told him the deal that was made to me, he suggested I shop somewhere else. So, I said I was leaving to shop elsewhere and this is where the sales manager, [redacted] came into the picture. He offered me another $1000 coupon and then after further negotiations, I received additional monies for my 2010 CRV. I drove home that day in my new 2017 RAV 4 LE.....just to find out when I got home, my fiancé looked at the wheels and said the vehicle I negotiated did not have alloy wheels as I was told it had. I called [redacted] that evening to explain about [redacted] telling me I was getting alloy wheels and that is not what was on the vehicle. He said they were busy with year end and would get back with me. I then called again later that evening because I didn't appreciate that I was pushed to the side with that it was their "year end". I felt he did not care since they already "made the deal'. I said he should get back with me by the next day after speaking with his general manager, then said they had a showroom full of people and would get back with me. Well, that next morning, which was Saturday December 31, 2016, I was at the dealership at 9 am. I saw [redacted] and asked to speak with the general manager. He pointed to a gentleman and said he was here yesterday. The person he pointed to, I do not know his name, but I do know he was the one [redacted] would go back/forth with during the negotiating of the vehicle. When I told this person what I was told regarding alloy wheels, he said he didn't believe I was lied to and he was basically calling me a liar and he acted very smug. I asked for my CR-V back and he said in a cocky manor, it was too late, all deals were final. Keep in mind, this was the next day after purchasing the RAV 4. I explained I was going to contact Toyota to complain, he simply looked at me and said "Go ahead". To this day, I have had one voicemail from a Pete of that dealership. I returned his call and then never received one back. [redacted], the salesman, has also called and left me a voicemail to see how I liked my RAV 4. I have emailed the sales manager, [redacted] who told me that day I bought this vehicle if I had any concerns to contact him. He has not responded either. I will never purchase a Toyota from this dealership ever and I will also let anyone know if they are considering buying a vehicle from them, what my experience was and it's a shame what happens when you buy local. I also have learned, since I do not know a great deal about vehicles, do not go alone to purchase a vehicle because you will be taken advantage of!
