Complaint: ***We are rejecting this response because we find Martin's response to our complaint to include a lot of misinformation and he argues points that are not accurate.1: He said that the weather was the problem with the poor quality work, but when I specifically addressed that with him in person afterwards and said that if the rain was going to be an issue, they should have asked to reschedule, he said that was not the issue with the work.2: We recognize that the pictures they sent were not the same patternI mentioned the pictures to say that it's clear the company CAN do good work, which is why we trusted them and hired them in the first place, but the quality of the work in the photos is nothing close to the quality we received.3: Martin NEVER told us ahead of time that the stamp we liked would be difficult to work withHe literally pulled up examples of stamping patterns on google pictures on his phone, and when we saw one we liked, he said "okay." We hired him as an expert and assumed he would be honest with us, and if he had told us ahead of time that the stamp was difficult, we would have been more than happy to choose another oneWe certainly hadn't come into the project set on any one design and were looking for help with the direction of the project from an expert, which is why we hired a company to help us in the first place (instead of attempting to do it ourselves like we first thought of doing) and why we asked him to come out and show us stamp patterns and colors before they started the projectIf he had been honest with us ahead of time, we would have gladly chosen something he had more confidence working withHe never once communicated with us PRIOR to the work being done that they were not capable of making the stamp look goodSince this project has been done, we have talked with another concrete company who told us that the stamping work could have been salvaged on the first day it was done if Rocky Mountain Stone and Concrete had taken their timeWe learned that there is a tool specifically made for smoothing out double stamping and blemishes when the concrete is still wet as the work is being doneTo me, the lack of effort put into the finished patio suggests that either the company really honestly didn’t care about their end product or they were trying to make a quick buck off a young couple who they thought they could take advantage of.4: Martin also claims that my husband and I had different ideas for the project, which is completely untrueWe have been on the same page for the project the entire timeWe never initially had a set pattern we were stuck on, and we both agreed on the stamp when we were given the optionsThe only time I mentioned to Martin that I wanted something smoother was after the project was done when I was pointing out the fact that they left super rough/ spikey patches (from taking the stamp off inappropriately) that I didn't want the baby to have to crawl around onThat was not a reference to the stamp pattern, but to the poor work that was doneMy husband and I both like the texture on the stamp in the places that it’s done correctly, but the roughness in the messed up areas is what we are opposed to.5: I only contacted my bank to dispute the charges after Martin refused to make good on his initial offer to give us a refundThe bank is still investigating the dispute and they have the money held, so the invoice Martin is asking us to pay hasn't been dealt with due to the fact that we haven't received any money back from the bank yetHe also is asking us to pay an invoice with an amount that is completely arbitraryThe new invoice he sent us for the shed pad is for $for sqftof plain concrete, which would make it $per sqftIf that was based off a real calculation, then that means they charged us the remaining $for sqftof stamped and colored concrete, making it $per sqftThose numbers make literally no sense except to suggest that they are now trying to rip us off again by throwing out random amounts hoping to recoup more than is fairPer direction by the bank, we have not paid anything additional since the dispute has not been settled.Since our last email, we had another company (highly recommended by a landscaper we are using) come to look at what it would take to rip the patio out and redo itHe used a metal detector to check the placement of the rebar Martin supposedly put into the concrete, and found only one portion of the patio that even has the rebar we paid for in it as quotedIn addition to numerous other critiques, he also informed us that because of the way the concrete was poured directly up against the house (instead of having a small space to protect the house), the wood is likely going to rot, which means our house is going to be damaged because of the poor workmanshipTo me, this doesn’t feel like the project of a company who “strives to put their best effort into every job they do.”We are so frustrated this situation is turning into thisWe were hoping to use a local company for this project and then have a good, working relationship for future projects as this certainly isn’t the only improvement we will be makingWe trusted Rocky Mountain Stone and Concrete to be experts in their work, help direct us in decision making to achieve good results, and be honest about their limitationsInstead, we ended up with a ridiculous-looking patio that is going to cost us almost $10,to have ripped out and redone by the other company and are wasting time and energy having to deal with this dispute because Martin (who admits openly to you that this work is subpar) wouldn't refund the money he originally offered us.Thank you,*** ***

I agree to the terms of Martin's response, however, I am not okay with closing the dispute until I actually have the money back. If Martin wants to write us a check for the refund, I'm happy to close this dispute and cancel anything the bank is working on so we can be done with this situation.
Regards,

We would like to finish with this situation, we took action about another invoices $2,000.00 because we received from the bank a notice that [redacted] refund by herself the money the whole amount $4,500.00. I know now that the money is still in the bank on hold, the question is if [redacted] want to pay the amount of $500 for the shed pad will be fine just for the concrete if not will be fine too. She can keep the money $4,500.00 and we will finish with the situation.

Hi [redacted],Im responding to the complaint about the stamped concrete patio from [redacted]. We take...

full responsibility for the work that was done on the day of 8/25/16. The weather conditions on that day were a major issue and that is why the stamped concrete did not come out as it should have. We strive to put our best effort in every job that we do, but unfortuantley this stamped patio did not reflect our company. The weather was not the only complication that day but the stamp that was chosen as well. In the complaint she mentions that we sent pictures and we did but they were not of stamped concrete, the pictures were to show her the color but not the design of the concrete. The stamp that they chose was difficult to work with because it has so many spaces in it and they knew that the stamp was hard to work with as well. They were given many different choses for the stamps (less diffuclt ones) but they insisted on this particular stamp. Another obstacle that was faced with this project is that the customers were not always on the same page. The husband wanted more detail with a rougher surface, while the wife wanted it to be smoother because of their child, which is completely understandable. We do understand that the patio was not our best work but we did try to fix it the most that we could. After we did all that we could the customer wanted a refund, contacted her bank and took the money out of our account. The stamped patio was not the only job as she mentioned, along with the shed pad. The shed pad was a different price and she still has not paid that balance because she took all the money that was paid, when the shed pad still needs to be payed for. We understand that the stamped patio did not come out as expected, but I assure you that this does not represent Rocky Mountain Stone & Concrete Flatwork.Thank you and have a good dayMartin G[redacted]Rocky Mountain Stone & Concrete Flatwork1804 10th St SWLoveland, CO. 80537
