Rocky Mountain Tree Service Reviews (3)

In January this year a client hired us to remove a large cottonwood tree and grind the stump and surface rootsThis work was completed and inspected by the tenants renting her house and the work was confirmed as completed before payment was made (The tenants confirmed it with her and
supplied her with pictures to show that the work had been completed.)In July this year the home owner contacted us to inform us that roots from below the surface were sending up shoots in the yard She requested that we return to finish the work And we told her that any additional grinding would be an additional charge The client did not want any further expense.Grinding subsurface tree roots which extend out from origin (probably more than feet away from a tree of this size in all directions) is not included in the price of a tree removal When a tree is removed there are always a great deal of roots which remain below the surface of the groundIt would tear up the entire yard if we ground out all these roots Tree commonly do not send up any shoots after the stump and visible surface roots have been ground Cottonwood and aspens can be an exception, however this can be remedied simply by not allowing them to grow They are quite easy to get rid of by mowing over them, however the tenant was not doing this and allowed many to grow a couple of feet tall.We do not provide chemical services, which would not be necessary if mowing was done on a regular basis. We work hard to satisfy our customers concerns, but this client is asking us to do something which is never done by any tree company: i.eto take out all the roots below the ground froma huge cottonwood tree The best way to resolve this is by simply mowing over the shoots so that the sprouts are not allowed to growIt can take a couple of mowing seasons to eradicate them, but if the renter does not mow regularly an effective control may be obtained by cutting the shoots and applying a product called Fertilome Brush and Stump Killer to theshootsWe do not provide this service, since we are not licensed by the state to apply chemicals However this product may be purchased at a nursery or garden center

We provided a bid for the prospective client in late October It included a quote for trimming the deadwood from a backyard maple and a quote for its removal We discussed with them the fact that the tree is in decline and needs to be removed They opted to have the dead wood
trimmed at this time.In the tree care industry, scheduling is always subject to weather conditions It was raining the morning of the day the work was scheduled, and we waited to see if it would clear in the afternoon It did not We spoke with the client later that day and rescheduled for the following Monday. We began work Monday afternoon by trimming three dead leads over the neighbor's house When the climber proceeded to the other half of the tree, he examined the live portion of the tree and could not find a safe tpoint for his climbing line and rigging line to lower large dead limbs over the owner's house, because the decay in the center of the tree was more than anticipated (We do our best to assess the health of a tree when bidding, however you cannot always determine how much decay is present in a tree when bidding from the ground.)Since different arborists use different climbing techniques, we decided to have another arborist examine the tree to see if he could safely trim the dead wood that remained We told the customer we planned to finish on Thursday or Friday On Friday the second arborist determined, that he could not safely deadwood the rest of the tree At that point, we called the cell phones of both of the home owners (husband and wife) to discuss the matter with them Neither of them could be reached In the afternoon, the husband returned a call to us We told him that we would not be able to climb the tree to finish deadwooding it (We would have been able to complete it had the tree been accessible with a bucket truck.) Since it was in the backyard, we recommended that it be removed with a crane. His wife expressed in her letter to you that she believes we might have decided not to complete the job, because a crew member had expressed to her husband that the job had been underbid (The groundsman who said this to her husband, had no knowledge of the estimated price, and was speaking out of place) Occasionally we do under bid a job, as all tree companies do from time to time If this is ever the case, we still honor our price and finish the job, however we determined that this tree should not be removed or deadwooded without the assistance of a crane.Though tree care is a variable industry -- every tree and every site being different We strive to provide quality work and satisfy all of our customers We feel that our communication with the customer on this job should have been better We did clean up and haul all debris that was trimmed from the tree and did not charge the customer for the work that had been done

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me, although I would not recommend this company to another individual.
