Initial Business Response /* (1000, 8, 2016/02/05) */
First of all to answer the time frame question, the truck was actually in the shop from Dec.17, to January 22, That is weeks not yearsAs for the exhaust pipes, it is common that the brackets may come loose after being removed and
may need to be tightened up, much the same as a wheel doesThat is what happened to the exhaust pipes in this caseI do not believe water was blowing through the truck but it did seem to have a slight leakThis leak was evident before Macco had ever touched this unit (had leaked for a long period of time prior to it being touched by Maaco)As for being told to remove the drain plugs, well the owner couldn't leave the truck at that time (as did happen often with him) so *** did mention to remove the plugs temporarily to drain what water was there outAt one point *** did bring the truck back in to allow us to check for said water leakThe interior was removed to do so and the shop found that there were multiple leaks throughout the sleeper (none caused from us Maaco) but as a courteous service repaired the leaksAt no point did I, ***, ever tell *** that the guy who worked on his truck left and went to ***, nor did I ever say we didn't have anyone qualified to do the repairThe falling out rivet complaints is complete as well*** thought some were loose but in the end were not in fact looseThe interior complaint is only partially trueThe vinyl trim on the bed did receive a slight dark blemish from a hot work light but was repaired at Maaco's expense and without argumentThe insulation in the walls is put in the interior in smaller pieces from the factory as to get around the many many obstacles in the way on interiorThe fridge complaint was as wellThe fridge was inspected at *** and *** was told that these fridges only last a couple of years and he actually got about years out of his which was more then the expected lifespanThe so called inverter that almost or did catch fire is news to meIn fact *** had told me many times how this truck was an electrical nightmare from the day it was purchased *** The truck was painted twice due to a poor finish, not color matchThe truck did have a couple of minor flaws in the finish but to most people it wouldn't be an issue*** was given the option to have it re-painted in This is not a lifetime limit though and it has been way too long to think it would be refinished again nowLastly ***'s son dropped the truck off (without notice) to have a water leak looked at yet againAfter years Maaco agreed to look at this, without any charge yet again to ***We did find a couple of leaks that were caused from seams on the sleeper that have not been touched or repaired by MaacoAt this point we are completely done with regards to doing anymore work for *** whether it be paid or unpaid for by anyone affiliated with *** or ***A week after the truck was picked up from us, *** called to complain of some damage that apparently occurred while the truck was here? A week later, not the next day or days later but a week laterWe at Maaco feel all of these complaints are and do not warrant any more time wasted or attention on the matterThanks, ***
Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 11, 2016/02/12) */
Response to Maaco complaint
You say this truck has had a leak for a long time? How do you figure that? Considering you had to
change the walls on both sides of the truck, if the walls would have been properly installed and put back
together properly the way it was supposed to be, it would never had leakedIn case you did not know
***, I had taken this truck and had it checked overThey found structural: damage with the rivets
pulling through the roof cap and even as well as rivets being loose and falling outYou did not put any
gaskets in between the walls and the roof; you just took the interior out and caulked it from the inside
The fridge you speak of as being falseI have a document from *** stating that the fridge failed due
to water damage written by a licensed *** technician that I have in writingAlso you say that you
took this fridge to *** yourselfI was so upset that I went up after them and told them my story to
what had happened and that the roof was wide open and that there was water pouring through
between the roof and the wallsThey looked at the fridge and said that it made a lot of sense because
when they checked it, they stated it would have taken a big surge to take the regulator out of this fridge,
again due to the amount of water pouring through the truckAnd also the body shops explained to me
where the water had been blowing through the side of the panels up into the roof the water had
nowhere to go but to pour back down onto the fridge, the fridge is bolted up against the wall close to
the roof where it would have been blowing through***
and a few of my witnesses that were with me that you did not care about the fridge because you were
way under budget on this truck, and you did not want to hear anymore about it and that was that
As far as you saying I have had electrical problems with this truck ***I have called you and
told you that the lights were coming on inside the truck by themselves and would go out themselves and
sometimes could not get them off because again of the rain pouring through the bunk into the electrical
wiresI told you something had to be done with this because I did not want to wake up to be burning in
my sleep in my truck.***I also had called you and told you that the inverter has shorted out and caught fire, you asked
me did I leave those plugs out of the bunk and I said, no I did not and you told me to take the plugs out
Talk about painting the truck, you only painted it timesThe paint is so thick you cannot even sand it
down to repaint itYou told me that they are aluminum panels and that if you sand them down they
would get too hot and burn holes in themYou asked me to leave it with you, you will figure something
out, you wanted to make this right, but right you haven'tYou had me chasing you for almost years,
almost as long as the truck has been sitting, not registered***You told me you might
be able to blast it with soda powder and what I asked you what that was you said it was a type of baking
soda that they normally use on aluminum panels and it never happened, *** I've been chasing you for a few years you and kept telling me you were busy and
needed more timeI kept waiting and waiting, still nothing happenedSo finally when we meet up with
you in your office you told us to bring the truck over; you were surprised to see meFinally when I asked
you why you didn't come to the *** to meet with me and see the truck you told me you thought
-2-
you were just going to bring it to me, says ***Yeah right just like when you got finished with the
truck the last going off you didn't call me to tell me that it was ready, I had to go into Maaco myself to
find outThere was standing *** when he saw me he ran and got the keys he was swinging them back
and forth saying here is your truck, get it out of here we need the space, with no explanation to what
had been done with it, I told him no way I could not take the truck until TuesdayBut instead I picked it
up on a Monday January the 18th at pm to learn that the tail lights were covered in snow and smashed
inI have pictures with date and time to prove this as wellThere was snow on top of the driver's side
fender, which looked like they were trying to hide the damageI took a side picture of it anyway and
also took pictures of the lights smashed in with date and time right in Maaco yard; s***
I didn't call him for about a week later; I was so stressed to find out that he did not do anything to my
truck that I could seeThe panels were still the sameHe did not do any work to the truck or the panels;
the roof was still buckled and the paint was still blistering due to the condensation that was building
inside the truck and starting to blister outIt was just a mess*** I didn't think that
I'd ever have the energy again to call back and complain after they never finished the job and told me to
get the truck out of there; why would I want to call backSo however I called the *** Maaco office to
confirm who the owner was at Maaco in ***The owner asked me what does this concernI told
him that I had had a problem with my truck in ***He wasn't surprised, he asked me was it the
old blue *** in ***? He said that he did not want anything to do with it or make any
commentsHe just told me the owners name and hung up on meNow can you see where this is all
going? It's just not me fabricating stories; it is Maaco just giving me the run around
So I called Maaco office back in *** and asked for the ownerThe secretary had got the owner on the
phone for me and I explained what happened to my truck after I had dropped it off to *** to finish the
repairs that he had promised meI told them that it had looked like the plow had smashed into my
truckHe told me that there was nothing that he could do for meHe said that there is no proof and I
stated that there is you have cameras on your buildingHe said it doesn't matter; I said I have pictures
times and date showing when I picked my truck upI had taken the pictures before I had left the
propertyHe said oh well! Maybe you should call your insurance companyI told him that I could not
because the truck hasn't been on the road in a couple of years and I hadn't any insurance on the truck,
yet the truck was in your possession and you were responsible for itYou said I don't know what to tell
youYou said you only had fire and theft insurance on your propertyThere's nothing I can do for you
and that was the end of that story
Now ***, here is something else for youI have gone and gotten estimates from different garages,
highly qualified body shops that both had told me that I had structural damage to my truckNow what
else do you have to say about this ***? *** Like you said *** in your letter you did not want my business no matter if I had money or
notSo I guess maybe you do not want fix the truck after years of me chasing you; ***
*** It's sad *** that I had to chase you this long to get the
things done to my truck that you never really were going to fix***
***
Don't worry *** it is not over yet I am going to be taking you to court I am going to sue youI have
given you the chance to make this right like you said you wanted toI did not want to end it this way,
***
nowThanks for nothing, *** I was told by the body shops the truck was not fit to work or live in
because of the mold in the carpets was a danger to our health
You told me that you wanted me to sign some papers because you didn't want me to lose my warranty
and that the warranty stands for as long as I own my truckHow can you warranty something that you
did finish or something you didn't put back together rightOr how do you warranty something that has
structural damage and is unfinishedYou cannot warranty or damage but of course you don't know the
difference because you do not understand what good workmanship is really all aboutIt all looks good
to you no matter if it's bad or good you just don't know the differenceHonestly *** I told you, I did
not want you to finish my truck if you were going to put the same guy back on it, you said don't worry
*** he's gone back to ***Those were your exact words *** and I don't know who you got to
finish it off but it is still not right
Resolution requiredI want a professional company repair the damages done by MAACat the expense of MAACOI do not want MAACO to touch my truck again
