Review: My car brokedown on 1/11/14. A friend drove me to Rod Col on [redacted] , I told the owner of the shop that my car broke down the lights still work but for some reason it will start but not stay on. He told me that it was probably the alternator but he will check Monday and make sure. We agreed to have my car towed to the shop and he told me hewould take a look at it on Monday . I told him okay , got my car towed to the shop and dropped off the keys. I called Monday around 11:00am and was told that they will look at it later in the day . I was left a message by the owner at 1:50pm stating to call him back regarding the ford focus. When I called back he quoted me a price of 380 dollars that it was my alternator and belt that needed to be replaced and because my alternator is at the bottom and hard to access it would take a lot of hours( he broke down that my alternator was $175 labor is $30/hr . I agreed that since he said that was the problem then I will get it done. I was also told by the owner that if I pay in cash that he will waive the taxes for me so it will come out to $380 even. On Tuesday 1/14/14 I got voicemesage on my cellphone stating to call the shop the name was inaudible I believe it was ([redacted]). When I called the shop I was told my car was done . When I called back I explained to him that I will be able to pick my car up Wednesday (the next day) at around 11:00am. Wednesday I went to pick up my car and paid the 380 was told labor came up to $195 for my car. At the time I didn't think to much of it because he did say my alternator hard to access so it would be more hours. and upon starting it upand driving for a little ittemporarily made the same squeaking noise it did right before it broke down. I immediately called the shop and asked why is my car making the same squeaking noise it did before it broke down I was told that it probably was my belt when I explained that I just paid for a new belt he said oh well maybe its something else and that I can come back for them to look at it again . I told them I will be there after 3pm. When I got there The owner that I spoke to ( on the phone and in person) was NOT there instead the mechanic came out and asked to show him the problem. When he tried to open my car door it didn't open so I had to open it from the passenger side . (before I brought my car their all of my doors were fine and till this day my drivers side door is still not opening from the outside) I told him about the squeaking noise , he turned my car off and turned it back on , the noise was gone. (maybe my car had to get use to the new belt they put it ..I thought). When I asked the mechanic who worked on my car to pop my hood and show me the work done he agreed. Well when he popped my hood my parts underneath still had dust on them ( if he had to take the parts out to get to my alternator why are my parts still dusted , I was told that's why my labor was high) . I asked him to point to the parts he fixed (alternator and belt) he pointed to my alternator which was VISIBLE to see , when I asked about the belt that was changed, he told me that shop DOESNT change belts and he knows for sure because he is the one that fixed my car. He also said my belt was fine! When I asked for an IDEMIZED receipt he started stuttering and asked me to wait he will call the owner. While I was waiting a random person (maybe a customer (not in uniform)came up to me and told me that "they said you can come back later when the owner is here at 5:00pm. I told the person or customer that I will not leave until I get a refund for the belt that was NEVER replaced and I was charged for or an itemized receipt of how much everything costed. Finally the mechanic comes out and hands me the phone and tells me that the owner is on the phone when I speak to him I tell him that his mechanic that worked on my car told me that he never changed my belt and they don't change belts. He told me I must have heard him wrong when I told him that I didn't hear him wrong, he told me that maybe he meant he doesn't change belts for MY PARTICULAR car. I explained to him that if that was the case why was I charged for something he or the shop doesn't do. he then asks me to hand the phone back to the mechanic (im guessing the mechanic said the wrong thing). After they talk for awhile mechanic hands me the phone and the owner tells me that he ordered the new belt yesterday and its in the shop the mechanic must have forgot put it on but I can get the mechanic to put it in for free (obviously like he was doing me a favor) or I can get my money back for the belt which he said was $30. I told him I would like my money back . he told me that is fine I could get my money back today and I can either wait for him at 5:00 when he will be back at the shop or come back tomorrow for a receipt. nonetheless I got the $30 dollars back that day and told him Id be back tomorrow after work 3pm to get the itemized receipt. The next day Thursday 1.16.14 after work I went back to Rod Col and asked for a receipt. It wasn't a surprise that the owner was not there again. When I explained to the same mechanic that the owner told me to come back today to get the recipet he said he doesn't know where the receipt is. When I asked well if you ordered the parts wouldn't it be on the computer how much everything costed he told me that only the owner knows the prices and the recipets.I then asked him how long it took for him to put the alternator in my car he told me 2 hours. When I asked If the alternator was new and if how much per hour is the labor he told me that the alternator is new but he doesn't know how much the labor is per hour. Which is hard to believe.he then called the owner on the phone again and handed me the phone I explained to him that I came back like he asked me to do for the receipt and he told me that only he can tell me and he will be back in 25 mins if I would like to wait . I also told him that the mechanic said it only took him two hours to put the alternator and belt in my car and labor was $30 per hour so how was I charged $195 for labor for a two hour job !Desired Settlement: I would like a refund for par the labor that I paid for a belt that was never put it my car and for the added amount of hours that weren't even worked on my car . If its $30 per hour why was my labor $195 for a job that only took 2 hours something doesn't add up. My understanding is that my labor should have costed about $60 or so dollars. I was told alternator was $175 and labor was $195. I don't understand how 2 hours worth or labor equals $195!Also possibly reimbursement for my door that "randomly" stopped working after they worked on my car. Now I have to get my door fixed which will cost more money .I do not trust that the alternator was $175 or any price until I see an itemized receipt and no one will provide me of that. I don't like the idea of waisting $400 I worked very hard for my money and I worked hard for my car . I also do not like the idea of being taking advantage of .
