At this time, I have not been contacted by Roderick Johns Photography,
LLC regarding complaint ID ***

The inaccurate details of the complaint emphasize the lack of attention to detail that the complainants possess. Also, it allows me to see what they lack in technological skills and/or knowledge. The final [redacted] they received included the ceremony, reception and extras; i.e. video of the photo shoot, highlight reel and wedding décor. The [redacted] consists of chapters and subchapters which allows the consumer to view specific portions of the event without watching the event in its entirety if desired. They mentioned there being only 20 minutes of footage. Well, there is only 20 minutes of footage for the ceremony portion. The ceremony consisted of only 24 minutes of actual action. The other 20 minutes consisted of delays and malfunctions which did not involve me. If they knew how to operate a [redacted] disc that they requested, they would know that there is more footage that can be accessed by clicking on the “Reception” and “Extras” links in the disc’s menu. In response to the 4.5 hours, a lot of that time was of course waiting and of course eating. No one wants to be filmed eating.Their initial complaint included:• Missing footage during the reception• Video going from light to dark• Processional participants being on top of each other. To better give those who will read this a better idea of ceremony and location here are some details that the consumer failed to mention. The ceremony took place outdoors. The processionals began in the parking lot where there were cars and multiple individuals standing around. Not to mention the photographer running around to get the shots they needed. In order to provide the consumer with clean and visually pleasing imagery I began capturing the processions just before the participants reached the main ceremony area where the guest’s chairs were positioned. This allowed for space between each procession to reposition the camera. There was no mention of a limo or that I should film that portion of the event in the contract, emails or during the meeting. The [redacted] they received was corrected of all technical issues, including the “light to dark” malfunction. The assumed “missing reception footage” was there on the draft DVDs and the final [redacted]. Now the processional participants being “on top each other” was simply one’s ignorance of video recording which is what I attempted to clarify. Being there was only one videographer and camera requested, that limits what can be captured. The claim that I stood in one place is false. I captured both the bride and groom invarious portions of the ceremony. The view of the “Sand Mixing” portion of the ceremony was obstructed but not by people, but by the décor that was placed on the table. Even with that obstruction I was still able to angle the camera for an aerial view to make sure that the mixing of the sand would not be missed. I am interested to know how they say that I did not mention to them that it would be my first wedding videography job if they did not see a sample video of my previous work and that there was no wedding video visible on any of my websites and social media outlets that I advertise on. I mentioned it to them in person during the meeting and the wife’s response was, “That’s fine, I really love your pictures.” I have responded to their emails and communicated my view and attempted to reason with them but I will not respond to disrespectful and threatening emails and phone calls. For these 40+ adults to act how they are and in-turn call me unprofessional and an amateur is appalling. They are in my opinion con artists. This is merely an attempt to get professional services for free from an entrepreneur who loves providing a service to his many past and future customers. I have been in business for over three years and there has never been any complaint made against me or my professionalism. To the request of the refund:The total amount of $600 includes the deposit of $300 which is non-refundable. The remainder after a very sizable discount of $1,100 includes fees for equipment usage, travel expenses, video editing time and labor. They are not requesting half for receiving half of a service. This is their bold attempt to take advantage of an honest, hard-working businessman.Excerpt from the signed contract:“During the hours reserved the Videographer shall capture images of the bridal party and guests in formal and informal settings. The Videographer shall attempt to include the footage specifically requested but due to the nature of this event, this may not be possible in all cases and the Client agrees that no deduction in fees shall be made in that case. The Videographer reserves the right to edit all video footage.”
