If I could give this location zero or negative stars I wouldI booked a room at this location in JanuaryWanted to make sure I got a decent rate for the Comic-Con weekendBooked the room online and Choice Hotels gives you the option to pay now or pay at the time of arrivalI chose to pay when I arrivedI had fraud on my debit card sometime after that and had it cancelled and reissuedCalling this hotel to update my payment information months ago was not at the top of my mindBesides, I was supposed to pay onsite when I arrivedI took the day off of work to make sure that I would arrive at the hotel at or before Che(2pm)I arrived at 1:50pmWhen I attempted to check in, I was told by the Manager (Key Patel) that my room was cancelledI had just driven miles to get there and at no time did I receive a call or email that my reservation was cancelledI questioned him and he stated that he ran my card that I booked with that morning and once it declined, he sold my room out from under meHe stated that he is not required to call me when there was an issue with my cardIf he had, I would have been able to provide the correct informationHe didn't want thatHe was able to charge someone that day $per night versus the $I was guaranteedHe sold all of the rooms before cheand told me there was nothing I could doOf course I’m not out any money for the room, but I am out the mileage and gas for my wasted tripI then spent the next minutes with Choice Hotels Customer Service just to be told that they were siding with the hotel on this and would not accommodate my guaranteed rate at any other locationMy only option was to spend more money and be further away from the event I was supposed to attend.Speaking of that guarantee, that’s B.SIt even states on the confirmation email:
Guarantee Policy
Your room will be held until 7:AM the morning following your scheduled arrival dateIf you do not arrive and do not cancel your reservation by the cancellation deadline, your credit card will be charged night's stay plus tax
I will never use Choice Hotels or any of their companies ever again

On I called the Rodeway Inn Lemon Grove to inquire about what their incidental hold would be if I used all Choice Hotel points
I was informed by a lady that there would not be any charge or deposit required as I was paying by pointsI was also told that only A $deposit would be held if I was paying with cash
With that information, I went online and made the reservation for using 10,Choice PointsThe website for this hotel also says the same incidental hold information that I was told by the representativeWhen I got to the hotel, I was told by the manager that it was a $even though I was paying with pointsI asked for this information in writing and explained that the was not the information told to me nor it that listed anywhere
The staff memmenr *** became very angry and started yelling that I had to pay $or I chould not stay thereI called Choice Hotels as he in affect prevented me from checking in by lying and trying to over charge meThe
