Transmission When your car arrived at our shop the transmission was already installed in the carThe laminated card you supplied outlaying the work you were hoping to have done and work you had done yourself so far stated that the "700Rwas installed and has proper fluid"When we initially
started the engine we heard a loud mechanical grinding noise coming from behind the engine, *** (the tech working on your car) immediately shut the engine offWe then pushed the vehicle on to a 4-post lift so we could investigate the source of the noiseWe found that the torque converter had not been fully engaged into the pump in the transmission (the last detent of installation) and when the transmission was mated to the engine the torque converter became wedged against the flexplateWe also noted the hardware securing the torque converter to the flexplate had not been installed by the owner of the carYou know all of this already of course because at that point we stopped working on your car and asked you to come down so you could see what we had foundYou said you understood what was wrong and the tech stated we would do what we could to get it dislodged and bolt the converter up and that it may require removing the transmissionThe tech was able to get the converter loosened without removing the transmissionIn your letter your asked us to call the transmission shop to discuss what they found*** told us the pump was broken because the torque converter was not fully indexed when installed, not because the engine was startedIf the converter had been fully indexed to the pump it would have just free wheeled when the engine was started and not caused any issues other than not being able to move the car with the transmission (because the torque converter was not bolted to the flex plate)Rods R Us assumes no responsibility for damages caused to transmission and its components due to improper installation by the owner Sheet Metal The lower windshield channel was not installed 1/2" off as stated in your letterThe replacement lower section was installed back to the factory position as aligned by pre-existing alignment holes in the cowlingYou were told by our tech that the car is going to require extensive gapping work prior to paint and you stated you would be handling the gapping yourselfWe were instructed to do only what was necessary to get the windshield and its trim installedGapping a classic car prior to paint always requires extensive fabricationIn your picture the piece you labeled "rods r us fabbed piece" is your original a-pillar coverAll the tech did to that piece is weld a small section that had been tornWe did not alter the shape or contour of that piece at allYou stopped by multiple times throughout the process and gave your approval of the work completed when you came and paid your bill prior to having the car towed from our shop to the transmission shop, without any mention of wanting any changes to be made Wheel Locks The key for your wheel locks was in a ziploc bag with one additional lug nut, inside the car when it leftPerhaps the transmission shop lost it or it was misplaced during transportAt any rate, we will purchase a new set of wheel locks and install them for you, please call to schedule a time so we can order them in advance and have them ready to install. Closing thoughtsThe customer saw all of the work that was performed on the car and was satisfied with the work when he came to pay his invoiceHe was aware the transmission was damaged and had the car towed from our shop to the transmission shop to have it repairedWe did not work on his transmission at our shop. The transmission damages were caused when the owner of the car improperly mated the transmission to the engine by himselfWe have corroborated that with the shop that built his transmission, as well as two other transmission shops in town that we useThe customer never made us aware that he had any issues with the work performed until he sent us a certified letter out of the blue claiming his intentions to sue us for the majority of his money backThe customer never made any effort or request to have us remedy any of his concerns (as the law states he is required to do)The customer has also since issued a charge back with his credit card company and they've taken our money from usWe intend to pursue legal action against the car owner for fraudulent charge back, harassment and defamationPlease let me know if you would like any further information or documentation as I have copies of everything

I am rejecting this response because: This company has a recent reputation for doing poor quality work noted on several review websites. They claim zero responsibility for transmission damage. Even if the transmission was installed incorrectly prior to arriving at their shop and bolts not tightened the damaged occurred FROM running the engine, damaging the transmission, and damaged to the flex plate and torque converter (metal pieces inside). Heavy deep grooves and bent steel  and metal shavings cannot happen from simply bolting a transmission to a engine.  Rods r Us stating hearing a noise upon startup, they started the engine for the first time, it had never been ran, these tolerances weren't checked before starting causing the damage. Rods R us has failed to accept their error due to poor business practices and bad ethics. If they are unable to pay for their lack of experience and attention to the project and admit error I hope the Revdex.com can further help to avoid legal action and simplify the damage they caused.

I had a custom install of my air conditioning system in my antique vehicle and it doesn't work. I spent $ 3500 there. Very disappointed! !!!!!!!
