Rod's Tree Service Reviews (3)

Review: rod's tree service delivered bark to my home with an entire pine tree in it. I am half way through the pile and have uncovered an 18 by 2 1/2 ft tree.

I requested a pile of bark from rod's tree service in citrus heights ca. (XXX) XXX-XXXX.

I explained to them that it was for my flower beds at my residence. I was asked if it would be ok if there were 4 or 5 large chunks of wood in the pile. I said that would be ok. I am now half way through the pile and I have uncovered the equivelency of an 18 by 2 1/2 foot tree and I know

there is a lot more in the 15 x 15 ft wide and 4 ft high pile thats left. I just want the wood to be picked up. I thought it was rude of them to unload the entire tree in my driveway. that's not what we agreed on.Desired Settlement: I would like to have all of the tree trunks & the rest of the pile picked up. I would be happy with the tree trunks being picked up though. I would have never agreed to except delivery if I would have known there was an entire tree (not 4 or 5 large chunks of wood) in it.

Review: Dear Madam,

I am writing about a incomplete job done by Rod’s Tree Service, [redacted] on 7/17/15. See attached contract, to remove 2 trees, stump grinding 2 trees, removing 2 tree roots and clean-up. (work starts on 7/17/15) He started work cost $350.00.

I tried to pay with my [redacted] card, said that would cost 5% more, so I paid by check. He left, and I was shocked. Their was NO clean up, plus one very large round of tree roots, I picked some of the mess he left.

I phones him on 7/20/15 and told him hhe need to come and remove the tree root ball and pick up debree. He said he would come check. He has not completed the work.

I am 85 years old, and began cleaning up, but can not do his job. Several male neighbors told to stop working and report him.

His add in phone books states he will take 5 credit cards, no mention of a extra 5% change. I hope you can help me. Thank you.

• And if he does not clean-up a finish removing the large tree root ball, I request a total refund of $350.00Desired Settlement: And if he does not clean-up a finish removing the large tree root ball, I request a total refund of $350.00

Review: The web page states "Satisfaction is Our #1 Concern" but getting the job done right seems not to be a priority. On Wednesday, August 14, [redacted] gave me an estimate for $275 for the job to be done. I later called back as asked if I wanted the whole limb removed how much more would it cost and he told me an additional $25. I scheduled the service for Friday, August 16 and did not have the addition portion of the limb removed. The two workers who showed up fro the job did not speak good English but were able to keep asking me for drinking water. When I pointed out to them that the angle of one of the limbs they removed was not enough they cut some more off but seemed to be arguing with me about doing so. On Tuesday of the following week, when [redacted] called for payment I explained to him that the one branch was not cut off at 45 degree angle to allow water to run off. I measured it and it is more like 15-20 degrees. Squirrel perch on it. This allows water to sit and rot the stump. He asked when I would be home and I gave him a tentative date of the following Monday but I would call him by Friday evening to verify I would be home. This was fine with him. I did call and left messages on his voice mail. I did not hear back from him and he did not show up. He called me again about a week later and left a message to call him. I did and got his voice mail. He did not call back. About 10 days went by and he called and asked em to leave my gate unlocked and I refused as there have been house break-ins and I had my bike stolen out of the garage. He asked me why I did not have the workers do the cut correctly when they were here and I explained I tried and met resistance and decided to take it up with him. I also wanted to make sure the job got done right by being present. Subsequently, I have called him a couple more times over the next month to let him know I would be available and he has not called me back. I last called him about 7-10 days ago and he has not returned my call. I explained in my last call that the job only meant 1 person had to show up with a chainsaw as the problem was ground level. Thus he would not have to send a whole crew or he come himself. I have called him using all three of his phones (916) 761-9959, (916) 443-7031, and (916) 596-1639. Almost every time I call I get voice mail. I have had a check ready to give him since August. I have excellent credit so money is not the issue here. I do not want him sending this to collections because he did not complete the job correctly. I have given him at least 5 days I would be available and he has not responded to any.Desired Settlement: The branch properly cut and I will pay the $275 (check already prepared 8/21/13 and has been waiting for job completion... est. says payment of bill indicates satisfaction).
