On 1.17.2019 I was contacted by *** Senior Mediation Specialist from phone # *** & told I was being sued for a credit card debt I owed. He said papers had been served to *** XXXXX with my court date. I told him that was impossible, I had not lived at that address since October, 2018 & the person who owned that home would have told me if any papers had been sent/served. He nonetheless told me I was being sued & all my belongings would be taken away from me unless I paid a past debt of *** for a Chase credit card that I had defaulted on back in 2007.I said it was impossible for me to pay the debt as I am on Social Security Disability. My last contact with Chase (or anyone) about this debt was in 2007. I asked for verification of the debt but he said if I did that he couldn't offer me a "deal", that I would have to pay the "deal" that day or I would lose my car & all my possessions. Those were my only choices. He lied, harassed & terrified me until I could not think straight & was in tears. I was in terror of losing everything I owned if I did not do something. He first insisted on *** I said that was impossible. With some help, I was finally able to come up with *** & he said he had to ask the creditor. He put me on hold for about 15 seconds then came back & said they approved the amount. That could not have been long enough to contact any "creditor". I paid the *** out of intimidation & fear. The law says I must to be provided verification of the debt & he lied about ever notifying me about any lawsuit/court date (which I believe never existed) & terrorized me by threatening to take all my possessions away if I didn't act that day instead of allowing me my rights. The statute of limitations on debt in my state is 5 years from the last contact with the creditor. it had been over 10 years since any contact. I believe he violated the law with his lies, harassment & intimidation.
