Review: On May 30, 2014, Rogovin Moving and Storage of New London, CT came to our home to move our belongings to our new address in [redacted] Everything was packed by me according to our agreement EXCEPT our 42" [redacted] Flat Screen TV. This was handled and packed solely by Rogovin movers for an additional fee above and beyond the actual moving cost. I was told by [redacted] the sales person that came to my house that it would be much safer to let them (Rogovin) do it so that I wouldn't have to worry!! When arriving to our new location, we noticed that the box that had the TV in it had a big hole in it. Upon opening we discovered that the TV screen was shattered. We filed a claim through [redacted] at which time I received a check on the claim for $54.00. I emailed Rogovin numerous times asking them to REFUND me the SPECIAL PACKAGING FEE for the TV. Effective today, the office manager [redacted] the Move Co-ordinator (as I have no other person to contact) is refusing to do so. The amount of the EXTRA packaging charge was $135.00. I feel that since they packed it and it was the ONLY thing that they packed and took charge of AND it was the only item that was received damaged, I shouldn't have to absorb that cost. In good faith, I paid extra to ensure it's safe arrival.The claims representatives at [redacted] suggested that I contact Rogovin Moving and Storage directly to request a refund of that particular charge as it is not in their ([redacted]) directive to issue refunds. Again, Rogovin is declining to issue me a refund. I think that this is only fair as paying extra for this service to "keep my TV safe" was just a way to increase my cost and not to actually protect my TV which was in perfect working order as viewed personally by [redacted]---it was on when he came to do the initial estimate. I turn to the Revdex.com, as contact with [redacted] from Rogovin Moving & Storage has yielded no results for me.Desired Settlement: Refund of the $135.00 special packing charge.

Very disappointed Would not re move a hutch. Said it was nailed together. Not true. It was screwed in. Also broken handle on dresser and nightstand drawer jammed in,Cannot fully open now. Response from company was not very satisfying.Never got back to me.

Review: My experience with Rogovin Moving was horrible. They were unprofessional and I uncovered stolen/missing items that the owner of Rogovin was unable to address or account for.I had a box of jewelry, a coin purse of laundry quarters, and a bag of misc. clothing, portable speakers, etc, set aside for me to bring personally (not to be packed by the movers). Before the moving team came to load the trucks I noted the location and position of these items. After the moving team left the entire bag of clothing/speakers was missing, the coin purse was left behind but $10 in quarters were missing, and my jewelry box was laid on its side, and boxes within were opened. I did not note any jewelry missing. When I brought this up to the owner he was very defensive, hands off, and said it's a police matter of theft because these items were in my apartment building basement, and that I had no direct proof that these items were stolen by his employees. He recommended that I file a police report but did not make any note or gesture of compensating me in any way, or addressing the matter with his employees. Quite frankly he was rude about the whole missing items issue and handled it very poorly. Although I don't have video evidence of his employees stealing these items, they were the only ones in my basement that day (it's a small building with few tenants), and these items did not reappear after I unpacked at my destination. Part of what lends to my suspicion is the unprofessional nature of their employees. The person who did the quote initially reeked of cigarette smoke. Only half of their movers wore any type of uniform/shirt denoting [redacted] or Rogovin Moving. One was an adolescent/young adult who spent considerable time with his hand scratching inside his pants. The owner seemed frazzled and sounded harassed each time I would speak to him. I received a verbal scheduling of packing/loading dates 1 month prior to the move with the owner stating 'we'll try to move it earlier', but did not receive a final confirmation of the dates they were coming.Desired Settlement: Missing items were $40 clothing, $127 speaker, $10 cash, $19 specialty food items. I'd like a refund of this value.

Excellent experience on a move from CT to NJ. A company move of a two-bedroom apartment, including packing of items. They arrived on a Thursday and packed and loaded everything that day. Delivery on a Saturday. Two weeks later, I can say confidently that everything is accounted for, and nothing was broken. Everything they packed was carefully done. I even had some very odd, one-off times (like a length of 2x4) that were tagged and delivered.
I dealt with Patrick for the initial binding quote, and with Dan and several other movers for packing and unloading. Very happy overall, and wouldn't hesitate to recommend. As with any move, I'd suggest you correctly insure your goods, and follow the instructions they give you about what should not be transported (e.g., currency, important documents, etc.)

Review: My issue involves the lack of professionalism and of providing information to the customer, which obviously and ultimately, benefits the moving company, as well as the insurance carrier which handles their claims. The lack of information and guidance, by the moving company's so called 'moving coordinator', was non existing, in my case. One such example was when, after I signed my contract on 5/13/2015, Michelle never called me to introduce herself and 'walk' me through the process. I called her shortly after, to check in with her. All I really got from her was an instruction about faxing signed forms back to her. For example, zero explanation about what, given this experience, has become my own conclusion about their High Value Inventory Sheet. It should have been explained to me that, if I packed ANYTHING of any value, higher than $6, I might as well not insure it; or absolutely have the company pack everything, because what they do not tell you is that, although you are led to believe that you have the option to pack, or not, your belongings, if you choose to save money, and pack some things yourself, the insurance will not cover those belongings. I can understand this, if items are packed in carton boxes, not visible to someone looking at the box; however, my issue has to do with a transparent, under the bed type plastic container, which contained 13 handbags, most of which were in their individual cloth bags, with their brand on each bag. There was also a larger plastic bag in the container, with several small evening type purses, most of which were gifts from my, now deceased mother.

As the insurance professional I am, who believes in the peace of mind insurance provides, I opted to purchase additional insurance, which was supposed to cover the full amount of my shipment, estimated at $25,000, with a zero deductible. I packed over 60% of my shipment- much of it in clear containers- like the one described above. Why did someone from the moving company NOT advise me I should not do so, if it wasn't going to be covered anyway? Talk about a free ticket to flat out steal from angst ridden customers, at an extremely vulnerable time in their lives, when they are transitioning their lives from one state to another. And at a pretty hefty price paid by the customer, at that. In my case, almost $5,000. They offered me $250 for a container which contained approximately $3,200 worth of handbags.

From reading other reviews on their website, these theft incidents appear to be pretty common with them. I now see how it would be, if their employees get wind of how helpless their customers are, and no one is held accountable. I am hereby asking your bureau, to please review my complaint, along with the many negative reviews on this company's website; and please investigate, what is evidently being done to us consumers. Personally, I feel as if they are trying to rape me...twice. The first time, when my purses, and other things, did not arrive at their destination. The second time, when I have spoken to their extremely unprofessional and rude claim adjusters, who robotically spit out scripted jargon, to simply get off paying claims.

Again, my purses were in a TRANSPARENT, plastic bin. The people who handled my shipment for over 2.5 weeks, ALL would have been able to clearly see what was in it, contrary to the jargon they are trying to run by me. These are some rather unfair and unsavory business practices.Desired Settlement: My desired outcome is as follows:

1) In general terms, for the moving company to assist in the handling of my claim, with regards to taking responsibility for not having provided the necessary information/guidance to their customer, about how insurance would work if company packed, versus if customer packs;

2) I think consideration needs to be given to the fact that my purses were packed in a transparent, plastic container, clearly visible to anyone with sight, who would have handled it. This company's employees, starting with its owner and 'moving coordinator' need to reevaluate their attitude towards accountability and customer satisfaction, which begins with shipments arriving in their totality at their destination. That is what people pay hefty prices for!;

3) It would be in the customer's and business overall environment to see more regulation and oversight of companies in the moving industry. It appears they have an overall negative reputation with consumers. After this experience, I see why.

There is something wrong with an economy which allows/accepts this to be the case. Gives them more room to not be held accountable for what they are in great positions to do freely...Steal people's belongings, at the customer's own expense.Someone needs to hold this company responsible for the way they intentionally not inform and poorly deal with their customers. The only time I felt they were nice was when Michelle was taking my credit card number over the phone, for payment. I have also spoken to Aaron, the owner, who has been nice and calm when I speak to him; however, he is very hands off, pushes the responsibility to either the movers, Michelle, or the insurance company. It is like I said to him, I own my own business too. If one of my clients calls my office with a serious allegation, "the buck stops with me". I take charge of the matter, to ensure my customer feels heard/understood, and I ensure there is a satisfactory/fair resolution. In my business, we try to be very transparent from the time a client contacts us. I guess I could do what this company does; however, I care about my reputation and am a firm believer in being a serious, fair, conscientious business person, who enjoys repeat business and loyalty. I guess that in the moving business, the one time 'bang' deal works because people don't move so often.

I truly hope your bureau investigates this matter further, along with all of the reviews on this company's website. Something is terribly wrong with what they have apparently been able to get away with. I, for one, will utilize ALL of my available resources/venues to do as much as I can to rectify a terrible WRONG!!!

Review: Rogovin moved me from ** to **. I had to delay the move for 10 days causing a $2000 difference in the storage and moving fee. I've been working with Michelle V[redacted] at Rogovin in an attempt to get something in writing that I can submit to my attorney for reimbursement as it was a legal issue that held up the move. This request was first made on June 11th. It's now been a month and I'm not able to get response to my request. Please help me get the documentation needed for reimbursement. Thank you.Desired Settlement: The letter originally requested would be appreciate in a timely manner.
