I wanted to follow up with you about your Lotus Esprit currently in service at our dealershipOn your initial visit on Feb15th your vehicle was towed into our service department and would not shift into any gearsOur technicians found that the flywheel and clutch assemblies had failed and proceeded to replace per your approvalWe also replaced a vacuum line from the AC system to the vacuum solenoid of the engineDue the unsafe condition of your vehicles tires, we were unable to test drive your vehicleOn that service visit our technician recommended multiple engine repairs that you declined to have performedYou returned to our service department again on May 8th On this visit we replaced the right rear wheel bearing and axle shaft sealsDuring this time we found the engine was operating poorlyUpon inspection we found a vacuum line that was looseWe properly secured the vacuum line and also replaced the idle air control valve to try and resolve the issueThe engine idle quality was improved but still not satisfactoryAfter further diagnosis of the engine we have found excessive compression leakage from cylinder number This problem is not a failure in workmanship by our dealer but a failure in mechanical components of the engineThis current mechanical failure is unrelated to any previous repairs performed at our center and most likely stems for the previous declined engine repairs. In order to correct this, we would recommend replacing the complete engineAccording to Lotus there are no new engines available to order and unfortunately we are unable to install a used engine due to liability reasonsThe available repairs at our facility have been completed and your vehicle is ready for pickupPlease let us know if there is anything else we can assist you with

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ***, and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below. My vehicle engine was running for miles from when I got the shift lever and the clutch and flywheel replacedThe only reason I brought the car back was because I had a worn rear wheel bearing and axle seals that were leakingThe vacuum hose they found off was after I brought it in and while it was at their shopThe car wouldn't have ran for miles with this vacuum hose offI don't know if it was them running the car engine with the hose off for a long period of time (diagnosising?)or an over zealous test drive that caused the engine damage but it happened while it was at their shopWhen the BMW mechanic tells me that all three mechanics (Lotus.BMW, and Rolls) looked at my vehicle and have no idea what is wrong with it and they are trying to get me to drive a car the was not capable of driving or safe for that matterI am extremely concerned I drove my Lotus to their shop, the mechanic drove it to the back of the shop and no one mentioned a word about engine problemsI come to pick it up and the car isn't drive able and I have to get it towed.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
My vehicle engine was running normal for 210 miles from when I got the shift lever and the clutch and flywheel replaced. The only reason I brought the car back was because I had a worn rear wheel bearing and axle seals that were leaking. The vacuum hose they found off was after I brought it in and while it was at their shop. The car wouldn't have ran normal for 210 miles with this vacuum hose off. I don't know if it was them running the car engine with the hose off for a long period of time (diagnosising?)or an over zealous test drive that caused the engine damage but it happened while it was at their shop. When the BMW mechanic tells me that all three mechanics (Lotus.BMW, and Rolls) looked at my vehicle and have no idea what is wrong with it and they are trying to get me to drive a car the was not capable of driving or safe for that matter. I am extremely concerned.  I drove my Lotus to their shop, the mechanic drove it to the back of the shop and no one mentioned a word about engine problems. I come to pick it up and the car isn't drive able and I have to get it towed.
