Romani & Sons Windows & Siding Reviews (3)

A horrid experience that never seems to endBased upon the work presented on Ken's website http://www.romaniandsons.com/decks.html we were expecting a finished product that was vastly different than what we ended up withWhen our deck was first "completed" the stairs were not good looking to say the least, with uneven spacing, uneven screw holes and outside facing boards with barcodes and serial numbers on themFurther, Ken was using two obviously different types of decking at one point which we called him out onHe said he made some replacements, but that turned out to be untrue and confirmed by the manufacturerKen "did us a favor" by putting white trim on the risers, but even that does not look good with varying gaps, uneven cuts and sloppy workmanshipHe was very annoyed each time the subject of the deck was brought up to him and told my wife at one point that there was no way he was redoing the stepsI have questioned the construction and look of the steps from the beginning, and he told me that's the way he always builds stepsBased on past projects on his website, and even recent projects on his facebook page, this is falseFurther, we have two sets of stairs, one on the side to the yard and another set coming down to the patioOn the yard side he had his concrete sub contractor pour a slab of cement to support the stairsOn the patio side, instead of removing a piece of patio and pouring a full pad, he created this awful looking triangle piece of cement that abuts our patioIt is ugly and crumbling, and was done without even consulting us as to if we wanted it there or not, or proposing other solutionsWhen asked about this cement, his excuse was that I had mentioned redoing my patio at some point, so I wont always see it?!?
Ken Romani not only put out a terrible product he also breached his contract with us, lied about building products being used, and never had any building inspections for the project to be completedWhen we discovered the lack of inspections and called the township to come out, it turns out the deck stairs and railings, along with all electrical work are not up to code and need to be remediatedLastly, After weeks of musty smell in our basement, we discovered that the crawlspace under our new addition was filled with waterThis problem has been occurring for some time and black mold has even developed behind the insulationIt turns out that Ken Romani failed to follow the architectural plans that were given to him by not waterproofing the cinderblock foundation, not running a drainage pipe to our sump pit, and not providing vents to the outside, per the planKen's insurance company DOES NOT cover his faulty workmanship His insurance, if he even still has any, has not helped us in anyway

I hired Ken Romain & Sons to do a $30,window and siding job on my homeAlthough the job he did was high quality, he allowed his son and employee Brian to have access to my home during the job Brian had prior convictions for drug possession and stole $worth of jewelry form my home while working on the jobHe was arrested by Bensalem police and pleaded guilty in Bucks County court to Theft and Receiving Stolen PropertyMy jewelry was never recovered As his father, Ken showed poor judgment in allowing his son to have access to his customer's property when he knew Brian had a drug problemAfter the arrest Ken contacted me and assured me I would be made whole, however he has not done anything to compensate me for my loss Brian was mandated by the courts to pay restitution but he has defaulted on those payments If you consider hiring Ken to do any work on your home, I highly suggested that you stipulate in your contract that his son and employee, Brian is not allowed on the premises

I hired Ken Romain & Sons to do a $30,000 window and siding job on my home. Although the job he did was high quality, he allowed his son and employee Brian to have access to my home during the job. Brian had 2 prior convictions for drug possession and stole $6000. worth of jewelry form my home while working on the job. He was arrested by Bensalem police and pleaded guilty in Bucks County court to Theft and Receiving Stolen Property. My jewelry was never recovered. As his father, Ken showed poor judgment in allowing his son to have access to his customer's property when he knew Brian had a drug problem. After the arrest Ken contacted me and assured me I would be made whole, however he has not done anything to compensate me for my loss. Brian was mandated by the courts to pay restitution but he has defaulted on those payments. If you consider hiring Ken to do any work on your home, I highly suggested that you stipulate in your contract that his son and employee, Brian is not allowed on the premises.
