Romexterra Construction Reviews (%countItem)

Romexterra did an excellent job at a reasonable cost.
We had a water pipe burst during the 50 below weather.
Bathroom and lower level rec room had considerable water damage..
Marie was our main contact and explained in detail our billing questions.
Sean was the adjuster and pointed out different options and monitored the job from start to end.
His detailed quote completely satisfied our insurance claim adjuster.
A job well done and completed on our schedule requirements.
I would recommend their services to anyone.

Gary
Last winter during a sub-zero cold snap an outside water line froze and burst above the drop ceiling in a basement apartment. We awoke to the sound of gushing water and discovered 3 inches of water, soaking carpeting in two rooms, collapsing parts of the drop ceiling, and streaming down the bedroom wall, spraying over furniture including the bed.
After shutting off the line, I called for help and Romextera responded. Withing a few hours they responded. Within the day water was extracted, the carpeting was being removed, and holes were made in the walls around the base-board. Within a couple days dehumidifiers and fans were running. And within a week or so decisions were made--paint colors, carpeting, ceiling tile pattern, etc.--and redecoration was begun.
We were genuinely impressed by their complete response and efficient work with our insurance company, covering and completing re-carpeting, wall repairs, repainting, and replacing damaged closet doors.. They did a beautiful job. Workmanship was fine, as far as I could see.

However, a few months ago, I wondered if the quality of the replacement folding closet doors was lower than those that were damaged. I found that the strength of the pivot points was so weak that they collapsed. I had to figure out how to replace/reconstruct one. It was a minor disappointment, but a real time-consuming nuisance. Repairs could have been covered under a two-year warranty agreement--had I remembered.

Frankly, I'd call them again . . . despite the negative reviews on this Revdex.com site. But I'd be more observant regarding the materials being used as replacements for damages.

A few years ago, this company did a fabulous job repairing damage from a leak inside the walls of our living room/dining room/basement. They were reliable, fast, super efficient, respectful and pleasant. Plus, they matched our paint colors perfectly and repainted affected walls! We wouldn’t hesitate to use this company again.

I unfortunately returned home from a vacation to find out that my sub pump stopped working and my basement flooded. I just moved into my house less than a year ago and everything was brand new including the carpet, padding, drywall and numerous other things in my fully finished basement. Romexterra took the stress out of the whole unfortunate experience. Alex was on the ball and his crew exceeded my expectations with the work they performed on my house. If anyone I know ever goes through the unfortunate event of having their house flood or catch fire I would recommend Romexterra in a heartbeat. Their quote to perform the work was thousands less than one of their competitors. Thanks again for getting my basement back in order and looking as good as new.

In May of 2019 my basement flooded again and I knew who to call to have the job done right. Alex and his crew took the stress out of this unfortunate issue again. The guys that performed the work took a lot of pride in their work and were very clean during the process. I hope not to need their services again but know from experience they are the best at what they do!

I want to start off by saying I hate doing one star reviews and knocking a company online. Saying that, they really do deserve 1 star the one star was earned because they replaced our glasses they broke. Back in February during the wonderful freeze we had a frozen pipe disaster. They started out by not showing until real late and then not starting the drying process till two days later and dried for weeks after. The packing up our house and boxes drop off had to be the most expensive move I have ever done for a floor and a half. It was around $9000 (that was after talking them down a little.) The excuse was they had to catalog and document everything they threw into boxes(Yes threw into boxes that is what it looked like, also it was including stickers on everything that on somethings they do not come off ). My 7 year old could have organized and document with crayons for way less. Yes, I was difficult but when it comes to your things and being up rooted out of your home you should be. They would not give us out things back until we paid them the drop off boxes price we had no clue if our things were safe before paying the ransom . Please do use another company.

Be careful, they will exploit your insurance company and your vulnerability at a time of emergency.

Romexterra Construction Response • May 21, 2019

We are sorry to see Mr *** review. We responded in a timely manner and handled his loss with care and by IICRC Standards. He called and asked us to pick up equipment within 24 hours, even though a 3 day dry was recommended because the air movers were noisy... we recommended against it, he insisted and we complied.... when he called again to ask for help since everything was still wet, we once again responded promptly and installed drying equipment again. We met onsite with his insurance adjuster who agreed with everything we did with no complaint or question. The insurance check was issued to Mr *** quite a while ago. He has repeatedly refused to pay his bill for the mitigation that we performed. We issued repeated invoices , late fees as well as an intent to place lien. He continued to refuse to make payment. Lien was finally placed and so he submitted this review. We do not believe his review accurately portrays us and we can provide documentation upon request.

Customer Response • May 21, 2019

I have had several big projects completed on my home (new back yard, new fence, new roofs, corrections to work you left unfinished, tree removal to mention a few) with paid bills to prove that I always pay on time with no issues. I can't allow Romexterra to think this behavior is tolerated as I suspect they have done this before and were able to get away with it. What it comes down to is they lied on the bill and falsified services that were never completed or that were necessary to pad their bill. I am not letting them get paid for work not completed and had out of pocket expenses due to their negligence and shoddy work. Any any money that is left over needs to be returned to the insurance company. I am working with them now on this and have an open investigation being completed an with my help and documentation, hopefully they won't be able to do this to anyone else. .
There were many discrepancies in services that were billed for and no actually done. I realized it would be a waste of my time to even attempt a discussion with them. They should have apologized for the several documented mistakes in how they handled the mitigation and the exploitation of the emergency. They take no responsibility and go on about how they did me a favor and how generous they are trying to be. There is an entitlement from the beginning that customers should accept this poor service. What struck me as a red flag was a response saying they do this all the time (in regards to placing liens) and it's no big deal to them. If you're doing this "all the time", that should be an indicator about your services. It is interesting how I never heard from them in the months I was complaining, never a phone call not even an email to address my issues but when they think they should be paid they were more than willing to "come pick-up a check" as I should be grateful to them for that. They have no regard for my property or my damages except when they wanted payment.
I contacted Romexterra over and over again trying to get this resolved for months in both phone calls and emails detailing my issues which were never addressed. Their bill is incorrect and they didn't even deduct what they agreed to during my discussion with them. The total is still wrong and they are fraudulently billing for services that were never complete (I have emails with them confirming this). On top of that, they didn't address the damages that were done, leaving my home unfinished with the unprofessional mitigation. They ripped the ceiling off of my kitchen/family room area for no reason. There was no leakage there from the water pipe that burst. The adjuster even questioned as to why and told them it was not covered. I had to pay someone to fix something that was never broken. Due to their negligence and false promises to complete the work, I sustained more water damage from the ceilings left exposed. The water damage was coming from the dining room area only. The cost to repair that part of the ceiling and paint was an out of pocket expense for me. Why should I have to pay for that? What about my floor you ripped apart and never corrected. Why are you billing me for water removal, we removed all the water before you even got to the home ourselves. What "Emergency Services" are you referring to? I contacted you on a Thursday morning January 31st between 9 and 10 am. You took off the baseboards and never bothered placing them back. You took hardwood flooring from my home and never returned it and never even got back to me on a status. I had to email you numerous times and had to finally get a response and it wasn't even a response. Just an email with a bill. What reputable company would do something like that? Now I have an uneven floor pattern in my home because I can't locate the same shade. This is why we should have been given a contract from the beginning of what work would be done, with expected outcomes.
Even by their own admission as evident in emails admitting errors in billing, they don't know for certain what services were actually completed. I offered to provide them with ALL the inconsistencies being billed and they gave me a firm NO. I have my supporting documentation with pictures along with my adjuster's statement and the new contractor's statement that both corroborate them committing fraud and exploiting the emergency.
I am sorry they are upset because I would not allow them to bully me into paying. I let him know I will litigate this in court, in which he called my responses "nonsense" and said I was twisting his words in emails although I quoted him exactly (emails will prove that).

I would pass on this company due to them being very unreliable. I had them come out to my residence 2 weeks ago for a estimate. And now they give me every excuse in the world as too why my estimate isn't complete. They suck, won't return calls. I'd definitely pass on them. I would give them zero stars if I could.
