Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the offer made by the business in reference to complaint...

ID[redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below:
I am disappointed that [redacted] did not address the issue of customer service, which was the complaint I filed.  In addition, the little information he did provide in regards to our closing date was completely false.  We were aware of potential delays, however our contract closiing date was June 18 and we closed on August 7, which is not 3 or 4 days later.
There were a number of finishes that have not been completed on the home and are required to be addressed by 30 days post closing.  Unfortunately, [redacted] is still providing extremely poor customer serivce.  I contacted him two days ago regarding scheduling for this week for these items to be addressed. Post closing construction to the home is especially inconvenient for us as I am at home with my young children and wish to keep them away from work going on in the house.  As I have many times before, I contacted [redacted] for specific information and he continues to ignore my requests. I have received no phone calls or emails.
I find it appaling that [redacted] thinks it okay to treat people this way.  It seems in this industry there is not much professional accountability for complaints as such.  I would just urge [redacted] to start taking some personal responsibility and be the person he portrays on his website - "the hands-on builder, forging strong relationships with his clients as he works closely with them to customize their home."
Please consider me an unsatisfied customer with an unresolved complaint.  I am not asking [redacted] to respond further.
Regards,

Review: We Signed a contract with Will Romm (Romm Custom Homes). on 02/11/2015 to build a home at the site address [redacted], Glen Allen VA with a closing date of 11/11/2015. We paid the 5% initially on 02/13/2015 and another 5% later on 04/03/2015. We finalized the customizations and signed off the plan in July 2015. Subsequently the builder representative communicated that they have submitted the plan to county. However per county records the plan was not submitted on time. County approval was received end of October. During the days we were awaiting approval, We were asked for numerous other documents (like Appraisal & unconditional loan approval from bank etc) which we complied upon. The mortgage consultant said these are never a requirement from any builder they have worked with prior in their entire career.

On Dec 1st week we were told the construction is starting and we were forced to pay more money for change orders/ upgrades. Only the site was cleared and land broken to start construction in January. However after that money transaction, the builder and the rep (including the seller realtor Brittany Z[redacted]) stopped responding to us via email or phone. They both avoided our repeated calls .

After huge pressure from us, our Realtor said he came to know that Builder is going through personal issues with his wife (she is a partner in the company) and his loans are not going through well with the bank. We have been trying to reach out in all the ways possible, but After they got the money, they have not tried to email us or respond via phone. We are out of our money, Home construction has not started and I have reached out to their lawyer, she has not responded to any phone or emails.

The builder has not responded past 3 months except deflecting the queries to an attorney. We feel that this business has been unfairly delaying without proper explanation.Desired Settlement: We request the business to contact us and explain the plan and let us know if they can build the home or not. We also want them to compensate for the delays which are very well under their control.

Review: I had a custom home built by William R[redacted] finished in mid 2014. I continue to struggle over the last 4 months trying to get the 1 year punch-list completed by Will and his team. I have called, text, emailed, multiple times the punch-list and simply want the work completed per the original contract I signed with Will. Ultimately, the lack of follow-through and professionalism in talking to his contracted clients, is truly frustrating. Will's reputation in not communicating well is becoming problematic and will continue to affect his future business, as I know several homeowners that are very frustrated at his lack of following up. His job as a General Contractor and Custom Builder is to manage all aspects of the build, including follow-through on punch-list and customer service issues. All I want is for the products in my expensive home to be taken care of per the original agreement.Desired Settlement: I want the items on my 1 year punch-list resolved. That includes simple touch-up of paint, etc.., but also major items like wood floor possible replacement, front door replacement, masonry/tile fixes, etc... This is not hard, but instead what Will has already been paid for in the price of the house and he needs to follow up and complete the punch-list. I spent the time to build out the punch-list and sent it in several times, but no communication is unacceptable for any business, let alone a "Custom Home Builder". I am having to try to call subcontractors myself, but I only have a partial list of them, and I should not have to pay for the repairs to my home that are contractually bound to be done by Will R[redacted]

Review: On March 21, 2014, my husband and I executed a contract with [redacted] (i.e. Romm Custom Homes) to build a home for us in [redacted]. At the time, we paid a 10% deposit for the home in the amount of $76,399. The closing date in our contract was June 18, 2014 or "soon thereafter". We had enlisted the help of an agent with Long and Foster to assist us with the home buying process and she was with us on March 21.

The process was significantly delayed due to the wait for [redacted] to connect power to the section of our new community. We were not aware of how substantial a delay this was until the week of our closing in June. For the next 3 weeks, Romm was unresponsive to our requests for status updates. When we finally got him on the phone, he assured us multiple times that as soon as the power was on, he would deliver our house 2 weeks. The power was turned on July 11, 2014. Since that time, we have been given 4 separate closing dates and it contiues to be pushed back. The latest date is August 7. That is 4 weeks from July 11. My husband, our realtor and I have repeatedly called and emailed requesting an explanation and have received nothing but the runaround.

We have been extremely patient and amenable to his requests throughout the process, for example paying for all of our upgrades in cash instead of financing. The lack of response and at times rude and unapologetic attitude are unacceptable. We are paying almost $800k for this home. I have tried to address this matter head on with the builder and was told that I am sidetracking the process. I have notified the builder that I am filing this complaint.Desired Settlement: We have never asked for the quality of the home to be compromised in an effort to rush through the building process, and we are not asking for that now. We do, however, expect that requests for information be answered in an honest way within a reasonable time frame.

We will continue to be patient however we need to be in our house no later than mid August. We have school aged children and I need to provide proof of residency in order to complete school registration for the fall.

Thank you so much for your time and attention to this matter.

Review: [redacted] is building our new house. Our house is currently in the middle of construction, framed, roofed, etc A center piece of the house is a two sided fireplace in which per plan the firebox was to be split 30/70% between the family room and covered porch.

On Friday November 20th [redacted] team began constructing the fireplace and we noticed that it was being built 0/100% split between the family room and covered porch. This is not to plan and we quickly raised the issue to the builder. On Friday November 21st (2014), my wife met [redacted] at the site with his foreman and masonry team. There was universal acknowledgement that fireplace was not to plan, was too big, and needed to be rectified. My wife was told by [redacted] that he acknowledges that this is not to our plan, was going to halt further construction, and use the weekend to figure out a plan to fix.

Over the weekend we visited the site and saw that the builder had the fireplace finished, full chimney. This is directly counter to what we were told, and the builder has been non-communicative since Friday.

The lack of communication and collaboration to address this clear builder error is very concerning. This is the second time we have had an issue with builder errors. The first we overcame.Desired Settlement: We expect one of the following 3 solutions, in order of acceptability.

1. tear down and rebuild fireplace to plan.

2. document a formal change order that is acceptable to buyer

3. provide full refund of deposit, and additional investments in house including prior change order and radon mitigation system

Review: Chronology of events:

I signed a contract with [redacted] to build a house on 19th Feb, 2014. A customized [redacted] plan - [redacted] - [redacted] I issued a check of $58,000/-

Sept 9th - Paid for 1 feet extenion via Change Order 1 $9822.50

The plan was customized and agreed to on Sep 23rd, 2014.

Jan 12th Will submitted a plan to the county.

On April 29th I noticed the actual plan was 3 feet 2 inches shorter than what I signed up for.

It was in fact 2 feet 8 inches shorter than the original [redacted] presented to me.

Note that I was not notified of any changes in the dimensions when the plan was submitted to the county.

He is building a house that I don't want.Desired Settlement: He isn't building what I want. I want him to return my money back. The house is approximately 2' 8" shorter than their original plan. He points to a clause that says dimensions may change... But isn't that within a reasonable limit or with mutual consent?
