Ronald E. Rosen, DMD Reviews (1)

Review: I called the dentist offices before a visit to make sure that they accept my current insurance. I was told yes by [redacted] and came in for a great appointment. I then received a bill for a cleaning for $125 and a "periodic evaluation" (visit from the dentist - $72). I called and spoke with [redacted] again about the charges. I asked about the charge for $72, saying that I didn't see the dentist during that visit. Her response, "Oh, don't worry about that, we charge everyone that, it's automatic - I'll take that $72 charge off". This is insurance fraud. At this point I asked about the $125 charge and she said that she couldn't possibly know if the dentist office accept [redacted] and that I would have to pay the $125. I stated that she should have said that when I called to ask, not say that they did accept it. In later emails she again told me that they accept [redacted] (making no note that they don't accept all plans..)

I asked to speak with someone else to get this resolved and she said she was the entire billing department. I said again that I didn't think it was fair for me to pay this. (I could have gone somewhere that accepts my insurance had she done her job). She told me she was sending my bill to collections and hung up on me. I've written a letter to the dentist at this office explaining the situation but never heard back from him. [redacted] called me again and asked me to pay half the bill of $62.50. I am tired of dealing with this business and don't beleive I should have to pay any of the bill. I also think that they should be investigated for the insurance fraud issue that is such a problem in this country.Desired Settlement: I would like my remaining bill of $62.50 to be wiped clean. I would also like it if something could be done about the fact that [redacted] openly admitted to committing insurance fraud and assured me that it was "ok, we charge everyone this".Thank you.

Response:

As I explain to every patient that inquires about insurance, we accept a wide number of plans but each plan differs. For instance, there are many plans within [redacted] Dental. I make it a point to tell all our patients that it is their responsibiity to check into their own plan as there are hundreds of plans. This patient's particular plan did not cover her cleaning visit. As a courtesy for her, we credited her more than half of the total cleaning. We try and strive to accommodate all our patient's needs.

Response:

I have reviewed the response submitted by the business and have determined that the response does not satisfy or resolve my issues and/or concerns in reference to complaint.

I was told that my insurance was accepted - plain and simple. No questions were asked about what type of [redacted] Dental I had. I also don't believe that there are that many plans that had I been asked what type I have, the question couldn't have been answered. I checked with my insurance company and they confirmed that I had one cleaning available to use.

On top of that, I was charged for seeing the dentist which I did not.. When I called to ask about this charge I was told not to worry about it, that everyone is charged that fee, regardless. That is insurance fraud! This fee was removed, but that's not to say that many other insurance companies aren't paying for it.

R0: Complaint #[redacted]

To Whom It May Concern:

In response to Complaint #[redacted], it is ultimately the patients responsibility to confirm insurance coverage. We help out patients with their insurance claims on a daily basis with dozens of different plans and coverages. Our office never has and never will raver respond in the following manner “everyone is charged that fee, regardless.” Every patient is treated on an individual basis. We mistakenly billed for a doctor exam which was adjusted out, We further credited the patient with half cost of the cleaning. We wish our former patient all the best in finding another dental office.
