Roof life treated my roof, guaranteed for three years, until Aug However, moss growing back, Daniel came and looked Because of my oak trees he said it should only have been warranted for two We were considering a new roof so asked for a quote They had already done one third of the roof earlier The quote after much nagging was $35, Felt that was excessive so asked to just take off the moss Daniel assured me he would schedule it but has not been in contact since Roof Life are liars and cheats

Complaint: [redacted] I am rejecting this response because: I would at least expect this company to replace the shakes that blew off (there was more than one)Sincerely, [redacted]

I have been a Roof Life of Oregon customer since In 2015, as part of their regular maintenance, they cleaned the moss from my roof and treated it to prevent further moss growthThis came with a 3-year guaranteeI noticed moss growing on the south side of my roof and contacted Roof Life to come out and take care of itIt took several weeks to get a return callPatrick M***, the CEO of Roof Life, finally returned my call and came by to take a lookHe told me that there was no mossI asked if he looked at the south sideHe said no, that they have never treated the south side, only the north side, because 'nothing ever grows on the south side'So it was not covered by the guaranteeI argued that the entire roof should be covered under the guarantee not just the part they decided to treatThe last time I asked them if they intended to honor the guarantee was on 5/Today is 5/Still no responseI believe that their advertising and business practices are misleading and deceptive and hope to caution others by sharing my experience

Complaint: ***I am rejecting this response because: Roof Life of Oregon has found a way to make excuses for poor workmanship.Sincerely,*** ***

Our records show that *** ***’s home is in fact under the Roof Life of Oregon, No Leak / No growth, warranty for the agreed time period?
After our initial inspection and report, *** agreed to have the suggested repairs completed along with having her roof treatedIn November we
were contacted again by *** after she had found a piece of a shake in the yard following a heavy wind/rain stormShe also expressed concern about an area on the roof where she thought that the treatment wasn’t workingPatrick responded and re-inspected the roof and located additional shakes that “could” be replaced, in the interest of the roof, and reported that information to ***Our roll is to simply respond, assess and report the condition of the roof to the home ownerIts always the homeowners’ decision on what they approve or don’tThe additional shakes that Patrick suggested to be replaced would increase the roofs ability to handle what ever mother nature throws at itAnd yes, it is common to look at at roof that was inspected earlier in the year and find additional repairsA twenty-year-old roof will never be a perfect; no matter how many new shakes are installedThe purpose of the repairs is to keep the water out of the home along with helping the roof work right, look correct and last longerAnd the other concern was a dark colored shake over the breakfast nookPatrick looked at the shakes in question and thought that everything was within reasonWood is organic and will always age and react differently when exposed to weatherIn this particular case, the shakes in question were just darker than the others
In conclusion, *** stated that she wants us to honor our contract and uphold the warranty that was provided to her when we completed their roof maintenance projectWe completed the repairs that were approved and issued the warranty and will continue to honor our warrantyHowever, any additional repairs that they wish to be completed will be done at additional charges upon their approval

Complaint: ***I am rejecting this response because:
As indicated, no discussion about the refund was entertained by Roof Life A request to discuss it (e-mail on file) was not returned Nothing in the guarantee mentioned refunds or prorated compensation Because Roof Life chose not to stand up to their promise, we submitted this complaint It is not my desire to work with a company that does business this way Therefore the solution would be a full refund since their product/service failed to meet their promise and Roof Life chose not to discuss the issue

On September 10, 2015, we had Patrick M*** come out to evaluate our shake roofAt the time, he provided us with a protection service plan that stated we needed shakes to be replaced, and one ridge cap, but that we could wait until 2016, at which time we should also treat our roof to prevent re-growthOn April 7, Patrick M*** again evaluated our shake roof and provided us with a Customer Contract and Work Order dated April 12, 2016, for replacement of spots and ridge capsOn April 15, 2016, the work was performed; Replacement of spots with Medium shakes and replaced ridge capsRoof Life also treated the roof with WPC-Ron May 16, Roof Life provides a year NO leak Warranty (Inside and Out)Using Roof Life's Own words "The intent of our year no leak warranty is to make clear to you, the homeowner, that a certified roofer has thoroughly inspected your roof, has marked and reported all the missing and damaged shakes, and that you chose to have those repai

It's not always easy to review a company that installs roof and siding, since it is a long term product that you can not always tell immediately what the end result is going to beThat is why it is important for me to share the experience I have had with Roof Life of Oregon over the last yearsFor those of you who do not want to read further to understand the reason behind my star rating; just know that while the service you receive is not always perfect (no company is perfect), the intention of Roof Life of Oregon to honor their products and warranties is truly there and in the end they always come through
The previous owner purchased the roof and siding in & When I purchased the home in I had it professionally inspected and found that most things were up to best practice standard and most certainly up to codeIt's important to note that standards CAN change from year to year, so occasionally you may find something was installed with a slightly dated standardThis is impossible to avoid and one can not realistically expect Roof Life of Oregon to be clairvoyant and foresee all future standardsThat being said, you can be sure they use whatever the best standard is at the time of installationOur inspector did find a couple minor items that likely would not have been an issue, but nonetheless Roof Life came out and fixed the items with no hassleAdditionally, they let me transfer over years of the original year warranty free of charge
Everything was fine for the next years until last year when we experienced torrential downpour for weeks at a timeDuring that time we noticed that the drywall above our living room started to show signs of moistureAt that point we contacted Roof Life of Oregon and reported the issueThey had someone out at our house within business day and had the issue fixedIt wasn't that the roof had a shoddy installation, but rather the slope of our house was so shallow paired the constant downpour was causing significant condensation to build up come throughRoof Life took responsibility and came out and fixed the roof (by adding additional vents, as well as repairing all water damage that happened internally
Now come to this year and we have decided to sell our houseThe buyer had an inspection and provided a list of concernsMany of the concerns were cosmetic; however, Roof Life took the time to come out and review each item outlined in the inspection reportThey did a couple maintenance items that may not have necessarily been required, but would help ease the buyers mind and then provided a statement for me to provide the buyer regarding the overall state of the roof
I realize this review is a bit long-winded, but it's important to understand that Roof Life stands behind their work, even if they have to put in a little effort on their endThey don't do this using low paid minimum wage workers they found off the street either, I actually had the founder of the company out at my house to review and do work himselfThis kind of thing is not below him and a rare quality you won't find with many other companiesI recommend you use Roof Life of Oregon for your roof and siding needs, you won't regret it

On July 18, 2014, we contracted with Roof Life of Oregon, SW Tiedeman Avenue, Tigard, Oregon 503-925-for a "treated roof with roof barrier concentrate" at our homeWe paid $1,on March 7, to secure the service and the balance $on August 15, when the service was provided by Roof Life of Oregon (total $1,974.00)The treatment came with a "Year Express Limited Warranty On Roof Barrier Concentrate for Composition Roofs" by DenncoWhile Dennco warranties their product, they place the responsibility for the warranty claim on the applicator (Roof Life of Oregon)The guarantee on the work order states "Roof Life of Oregon guarantees your roof to be free of fungus/moss growth for a period of THREE (3) years from the date of contract completionIf fungus/moss growth should occur before the specified time period, Roof Life of Oregon will retreat your roof at no charge to you." In December 2016, I noticed moss growth on the roofSince over months r

In good faith, we offered an explanation along with a refund that you acceptedIf this is not acceptable, simply return the refunded amount and we will schedule your roof for treatment
Thank you

Complaint: [redacted]I am rejecting this response because: I would at least expect this company to replace the shakes that blew off (there was more than one)Sincerely,[redacted]

What I found from the on roof inspection was a partial piece of shake that blew off that was a non-leak issue. The other suggested repairs were age related erosion holes and are non-warranty repairs.
Sincerely,
Patrick

Complaint: [redacted]I am rejecting this response because:

As stated continuously through this correspondence, we contacted Roof Life in good faith regarding our guarantee.  We were told we would be contacted by telephone about scheduling a visit.  No call ever came.  An e-mail came from Patrick M[redacted] stating, because of our prior interaction, they would not retreat our roof.  He offered to send a pro-rated refund.  I returned his e-mail, same day asking for an explanation.  No e-mail explanation was offered, no phone call was returned, and a check arrived a week or so later.  Roof Life made no attempt to resolve this until documented complaints were made.  I find their business practice to be unacceptable and I do not want to continue to work with them, receiving a product whose guarantee they may fail to honor 2.5 years from now.  If an acceptable solution was to re-treat our roof in compliance with their guarantee, they should have done so upon request.  Since the service cost us was $1,974 and we were refunded $658, Roof Life is clearly not averse to refunding money (and not averse to ignoring their guarantee).  The acceptable solution at this point would be a refund of $1,316 (in addition to the $658 already received), which to Roof Life should be the same as honoring the guarantee (in fact, with inflation, it should show a cost savings for them).  This whole report is unfortunate.  Had Roof Life stepped up with this solution to honor their guarantee when we first contacted them, no report would have been made.  Having shown the way they choose to do business has changed our willingness to contract with them. Sincerely,[redacted]

To Whom It May Concern:
Upon receiving the notification about the regrowth concern at the [redacted] residence, we looked through our client service records and determined that it would be best for both parties if we refunded the final year of the original agreement. It is always more beneficial for us...

to try and offer a solution rather than refund money. However, the service records indicated that multiple attempts were made to schedule the application of treatment in order for us to complete the project. Each time we thought that the weather conditions were correct for the treatment application, we would pre-call the [redacted] to let them know our intention to visit and each time they would decline because they wouldn’t be home and they stated they needed more advance notice along with the exact time that we would arrive. Moving forward, we thought that they would be more comfortable working with someone who is more responsive to their scheduling needs.
Considering these challenges, along with the past client interactions is why we offered the refund for a third of the original contract amount, which included both the cost of the roof cleaning and treatment, not just the treatment. We followed up with an email to explain this to Mr. [redacted] and stated that a check would be sent for the reimbursement. Our bank records show that the check was received and cashed by Mr. [redacted] on the Jan 10th, so naturally we concluded that this was an acceptable solution?
If this was not acceptable to Mr. [redacted] then he can send us the money that was refunded to him in good faith and we will schedule his home into the queue for treatment later this year.
Sincerely,
Patrick M[redacted]
