I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID 11770786, and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of why I am rejecting this response appear below:When I chose roof rite for my roofing job, I expected them to use quality products and complete the job appropriately. They however used products that aren't of the best quality and I believe that they should be responsible for the damage these products caused. The used a collar that was defective and once they realized this, they did replace the product however the did not repair the damage which the collar had caused which is close about $400 in drywall repair. This is not only a cosmetic issue but also a health issue as the drywall repair person indicated it has to sprayed with antibacterial, cut, repaired and painted. I believe that roof rite should be responsible for these costs as I the consumer did not provide the parts for this job. I would have no recourse with the manufacturer as I did not purchase the products from them but roof rite is the one that actually purchased these defective products. I would hope that they would stand by their work and complete a mistake they made. Regards,

The state of Michigan requires builders to warranty for one year on workmanship. Our workmanship warranty is for seven years when this homeowner had her roof repaired. Our warranty specifically outlines that it is a workmanship warranty only. Our warranty also...
very specifically details that that we will repair the leak and the leak only. Materials used on the job are warranted by the manufacturer.
We did fix her pipe collar which caused the leak. In this regard we had no obligation to do so since it was not a "workmanship" issue. I am not different from any other contractor in covering only the leak, but we are exceptional when you consider that 80% of roofing contractors are out of business in the first five years. We have not only upheld our part of the agreement, we exceeded it since it was not a workmanship issue.
I strive to have happy customers, however I have exceeded my obligations as outlined in our warranty, and do not believe this customer has a valid complaint.
