Complaint: ***I am rejecting this response because:1) I was not told by the business owner that he would be charging for bids for either my commercial building or for repairs at my homeIf I had known that in advance I would not have asked him, because virtually all other roofing companies give free bidsI didn't receive an emailed copy of his proposalI had given him my email but received nothing from himI have requested a copy after the fact but have not received that either.
2) When he told me over the phone that the bill would be $1495.00, I assumed the job would involve a lot of effort and materials and the his workers would be here until after dark, and not finished in less than an hourI had no idea what the job entailed; I just wanted the leak to stopI did not ask for a third roof flashing; I was only concerned with the east side of the house where the leak was occurringI was surprised that a third flashing had been installed.
3) Since the charges were so high, I expected the work to be top notchTherefore I was shocked to find that one of the pipe flashings had been poorly installed and needed to be replacedThe owner said he would personally come out to supervise the repair, and would add one more pipe flashing plus add more moss killer to the roof, but instead he sent his sales rep to sell me a new roof; no moss killer and no additional flashingIn the meantime I have hired someone else to sprinkle moss killer on the roofThe worker who applied the moss chemical commented that the flashings were poorly installed.
4) I believe his charges were excessiveI have been on the phone with him at length and he is not interested in seeing the situation from my point of view but only in justifying his excessively high rates.
)I plan to get bids for a new roof but will not be hiring this contractor because of his intimidating attitude, insulting comments, high rates and poor workmanship. Sincerely,*** ***

There wasn't a line charge for the estimates, Nobody Was Charged for An estimate with an invoice, I simply explained how companies absorb their cost of doing business & she is blowing this out of proportionAlso The Picture she posted is of the 3rd pipe flashing done at no cost- WE have since returned & replaced this flashing in this picture Lets cut through the drama hereThe client had every right to dispute the charges before she signed & accepted the work & price Once again this falls back to the value of a roof leak is worth the money when the water is pooring in someone's homeThey Call US, We offer a solution & a price for proposed work on a proposal agreement, Client signs paperwork & Nobody forced her to sign her own name & agree to the terms or forced her to write us the paymentIts only after We are completed with work, she complains about the cost & the work completedWE were 100% professional we returned & replaced pipe flashing & straightened pipeI am reading this client states she was doing a lot of "ASSUMMING" & we all know where this leads instead of asking questions & if she didn't feel confortable with the price? Why didn't she say over the phone When I gave her the price, It was to much? She also had a chance when guys showed up to read proposal & at that time REFUSE WORK? NO She confirms Price & signs paperwork I have just noticed the client wrote the check for $& the agreed proposal price that she accepted was $I have no idea why client wrote the check over the agreed amountI don't like to assume but we did install pipe flashings when proposal stated replacing only I am happy to return the overpayment amount as this was the clients overlookWe have been in Business almost years with an A+ Honestly We Run A Professional Roofing Company, So Folks As You Read Through this fribulous complaint filed against Us Remember We Are A Roofing Company Geared Toward Customer Satisfaction! We Never Quit Or Give Up On Our Client's Unfortunately We Can't Control People Who Assume outside of the proposal agreement & want to give up on there own decision to accept the terms &/or try to negotiate the terms after work has been completedNo Integrity!- Management

To Whom It May Concern  I made contact on with Client over the phone returning her calls- Requesting us to come out to meet with her as she owned several properties with roof troubles. I arranged a time at 10:00 am on Tuesday September 27th to meet with...

the client for the first time at the location of [redacted]. This location was a commercial building (We Don't Give Free Estimates On Commercial) I evaluated the commercial building by accessing a visual inspection  inside & around the front of the building where client stated leaking had been occurring coming down inside on  HWY 101 display front windows. I also accessed climbing on to the  buildings roof for a 16 point roof inspection & spent approximently 2 hours inspecting & diagnosing water intrusion & documented maintenance issues the roof was currently behind on having completed. I also documented a bottle that was stuck in the roof drain that the client witnessed me removing & handing to her as she had climbed to the top of the ladder so I could point out some observable elements to her. After I was completed Our Client asked me to follow her to another location to look at her home that was leaking. I agree to follow her. 22 minutes later We arrive at the top of Cedar Creek way up off of the beaten path on a gated one lane rd with adangerous bridge with no guardrails located up past the [redacted] Hebo, Oregon Client has me look at her home which consist of an outdated concrete tile roof that is completely (NON SERVICEABLE) with cells of heavy green moss everywhere. The back has some kind of covered porch or addition on it that consist of metal snap lock panels with several skylights with caulking failing due to non compatibility to metal. I explained to the client the skylight cpuld most likely be resealed to stop the current leak & the tile roof was non serviceable for several reason #1 being They don't manufacture tile replacement to match for liability if someone broke some while repairing or trafficking across> Client stated she had alot of tile replacement on site left over from original installation & she was sure that the plumbing pipe flashing over bathroom was bad & this is where her leak was coming from I told her ok I guess if she had the tile we could go ahead & replace the current pipe flashing over the bathroom also treat the tile for moss & seal the skylight. She then walks me up to her outbulidings shop & barns & shows me signs of leakage in these bulidings as well as  climbing up on a ladder on the shop and try to locate leaks to come up with some kind of solutions. By the time I left her residence I had spent over 2 hours of drive time from my office/shop that morning to her commercial building in Cloverdale & following client to her residence & 2.5 hours inspecting, diagnosing several roofs & consulting with the client. I left with my information & when I got back to the office/shop I spent another 1.5 hours writing up a fixed price proposal agreement for both locations & emailed client out the same day. I had a total of almost 6 man hours, We don't just send a bill out to our clients like some other companies do calling it a service call as I believe we would have to legally tell them upfront which we usually do if we have all the correct information at the time of making the appointment. All Though it really surprises me that people call us & ask us to come out over hours away from them & diagnose there problems for FREE? Do they really think The world simply work this way? We never send a surprise bills out & always execute our work by written Proposal which Clients Sign & Agree To Accepted Price & Scope PLEASE SEE PROPOSAL ATTACHED SIGNED BY CLIENT) As a company We have the right to record our time spent on each project & reflect the cost within the fixed price of the proposal for the work at hand which is simply what most contractors do when they put together a bid, Your time is valuable & one way or the other we have to charge for it
I email the client on Sept 27th 2016  two proposals  #1- for her commercial building & other #2 for her residential home (no outbuildings included I hear nothing back from her that she didn't receive the email or proposals (HOW DO WE KNOW THIS UNLESS YOU COMMUNICATE)
"Everyone of our clients has the right to walk away & not accept our proposal, Rest Assured, If We occurred marketing lead fee's or spent time to diagnose or consult with you in person this non billable time upfront May/or May Not be included within the cost of the job inside the fixed price of a Proposal Agreement " We As A Company Reserve This Right I Think This Only Fair"

On November 22 2016 I receive a call from the Client requesting someone to come out and look at her leak & wondering how much it would cost to replace a leaking pipe flashing. I say probably around $525.00 as my guys are in seaside & I have to dispatch from there on billable time of $95 per man hour also there are 2 guys for safety
I ask her for her name She tells me & its sounds familiar I ask didn't I personally meet with you 2 months ago Reply-- "Yes You did but she never heard fro us" I told her I had sent her an email with an proposal for both projects & that I had added in other things on the proposal that she also wanted done that day like sealing a skylight, mosstreatment & some broken tile fixed for $1425 I also explained to her that for the agreed price the complete job gets done that we originally gave her the proposal for
& the $525.00 charge quoted was for 1 pipe flashing I told her I couldn't guarantee my guys had the right size flashing with them & if not there would be a trip charge for us to come out and measure the pipe as I hadn't done before & go back to supply house & still other items wont be completed she asked what if they come now for the original price of $1425.00 and they don't have what they need? I said then there wont be any extra charge if it is fixed price The Client agrees verbally to accept the proposal My Son's Zack & Andrew go out & meet with client hand her proposal she reads it asked some questions & then signs for the work agreeing to pay. She comes out after they had completed replacing 1 pipe flashing & stated " NO THATS THE WRONG ONE" My guys said you told us this one she argued no the other one so they went ahead 7 replaced another one only to have her return & say the one on the front is the one leaking which was #3 pipe flashing keep in mind we were only charging for 1 in proposal agreement My guys tried to make the 3rd work with what we had on the truck but the flashing used was not causing pipe to slope sideways
That evening I was contacted by client stating she had not transferred available funds to cover check because she felt like she was overcharged for the work that she clearly signed for & accepted the terms for I explained ton her That I thought she played my young son's to replace 3 flashings & not just the one & also told her she has a very vicious pit bull and that's why she signed the proposal in the rain. In spent 45 minutes on the phone explain to her the value of the line items in a proposal ITS NOT HOURLY WORK It's a fixed price that reflects the value in what we do & the cost we absorb as a company passing along our overhead in a percentage. Once I had explained this to the client she claimed to completely understand now & would transfer the money to cover bad check. the next afternoon client calls threatening to go to the contractors board because its still leaking and the FREE PIPE FLASHING SHE GOT ISNT THE RIGHT SIZE? I consulted after pictures & my sons about this 3rd pipe flashing MY son states he caulked it but it must of rained it our before the seallent could set up I agreed to send them out to replace this 3rd pipe flashing that was never billed for free of charge which did get replaced I also told client I was sending my sales manager Jamie out with flir camera & going to take some photos to show roof is failing & we told her  in the beginning that replacing a pipe flashing won't solve the leak on a failing tile roof. Jamie went in Attic & seen signs of Black Mold & dryrot We Recommend Full Roof Replacement & Have Offered to even Credit the Repair  $$ into The value of a new roof if completed within 1 year IF not then the value of the repair would apply. People will sign & agree to pay you when there home is leaking but once you have fixed the problem The value of not having the water coming in just goes away, Fortunately That's why we have proposal agreements & state going in that this requested repair wont solve a leak on a non- serviceable roof that could be failing above the penetrations which the fir images proved that the concrete roof is not water tight as stated on September 27th in person. I made contact with client after receiving formal complaint filed by Revdex.com I told her I was a bit surprised as I had never quit on her & done nothing wrong but tried to help you out in an emergency situation on a non- serviceable roof She told me tonight she was going to get 3 estimates for replacement & we will go from There.
