Roof Worx LLC Reviews (26)

Revdex.com: I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted] , and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me Sincerely, [redacted]

The client has requested changes that are not in Roof Worx scope of work Roof Worx has documented these changes and requested the client to sign off on those changes As soon as Roof Worx gets signoff on the changes, Roof Worx will complete the Work

Our contract does in fact state an "approximate date of installation" for our roof; however, [redacted] stated to us that Roof Worx had multiple crews in the area and would be able to get our roof done on the date he wrote on our contract which was also the week that my husband would be off of workWhen that date changed, we did not receive a phone callWe had to call [redacted] and ask what the deal wasAnd yes, Roof Worx had multiple unreturned calls because we were communicating through email at the timeI told my husband that I wanted everything documented because we were not getting any answers and I knew email would provide evidence in cases like thisWhen asked about the additional costs, your Administrative Assistant responded back with "the amount is correct," or something to that effectThat answer did not satisfy usWhen we asked for an itemized invoice and received the insurance estimate, that is not what we were wantingWe would like Roof Worx to provide a material and labor invoiceI do not know what that is so hard for your company to comprehendAlso, as of Jan our warranty for our GAF roof has not been registeredThis is the contractor's responsibilityPlease explain thisAnd the warranty we are supposed to be getting, would this be the warranty known as the System Plus Limited Warranty? Roof Worx has us written down as getting a Silver Pledge warranty; I do not read anything about a Silver Pledge anywhere on the GAF website or Roof Worx website.By all means, if you have phone calls and emails to include in your response, please do soI think those will help my case more than they will help yoursWe have been nothing but understanding and patient until Roof Worx added additional costs onto our contract, then returned our check and threatened to turn us over to collections and place a lien on our house Sincerely, [redacted]

Complaint: [redacted] I am rejecting this response because: I called the insurance company and they have on file [redacted] tried contacting [redacted] times and he didn't respond I was the one contacting insurance adjuster [redacted] did tell me he was sorry for slacking on the job They recommend them because they give free estimates.again [redacted] said they do all the work not just the roof Sincerely, [redacted]

This issue is and will be addressed by Roof WorxRoof Worx met with the homeowner on and looked at the gutter cover section in question of approximately two feet, over the front house garageA technician has been scheduled to fix the existing gutter cover in the next days.Apparently, the homeowner talked to the work crew in April and the repair did not get reported back to Roof Worx, until the homeowner talked to his Insurance company and the salesperson several months later.Roof Worx was not aware the trash the homeowner says was left at his propertyWe are sorry the homeowner had to clean up after the work crew. The roof has passed inspection by Elbert county and the job was promptly paid for by the homeownerWe appreciate your business and will get the repair processed quickly

We have spoke to the client a couple of times this week about all of her issues The issue with the siding is a result of the age, original installation and type of siding and having to install flashing behind the siding During the roofing process, we have to install a piece of flashing called step flashing This flashing is bent so that half of the flashing is on the roof and the other have is on the wall There is one step flashing installed for each shingle from the lowest point to the highest point on the roof/wall interface When installing this step flashing, the siding must be pulled away from the wall to enable the step flashing to be tucked behind the siding When the siding is old and the type that is on the clients home, it can break and crumble very easily When we discussed this with the client she indicated that she had a similar problem with some other siding she had repaired She said that possibly not all of the damage was our issue and that she might be willing to pay some money depending on the repairs We have scheduled a meeting with the client this coming Tuesday to discuss the resolution of this issue Our quality control engineer had noted this issue into our tracking system after meeting with the client prior to her filing this complaint and was in the process of being address. We also discussed the damage of the car that was parked inside her garage Roof Worx was never aware of a car in the garage before or during the replacement of the roof It is standard practice of our production managers when a job is schedule to let the client know that the garage and driveway should be cleared so the crew can bring their dump trailer for all the debris The client did send pictures of the car with debris on it and I told her we would look at the damage when we inspect the other siding issue for a possible resolution of the car damage There was no yelling at the client just frustration by the project manager to find out after the fact that there was a very nice car stored in the garage The project manager apologized that she thought he was yelling at her and that it was his frustration about finding out about the car in the garage after the roof was installed. The invoice the client received is part of the standard invoicing process for insurance restoration projects that is sent when the roof is complete In most insurance restoration projects, we have to send an invoice to the insurance company which includes supplements (i.epermit) to get them to release to the client any depreciation money they may be holding The invoice the client received is a summarized version of what is sent to the insurance company and was not a demand for payment The clients project is a little unique because this is an old claim and the client has already received all the money from the insurance company In this case, the invoice that was sent to the insurance company does let the insurance company know that the repair was complete so they can update their records The final inspection will be scheduled after the siding repairs have been completed

Complaint: [redacted] I am rejecting this response because: The pictures I uploaded on Feb were taken on December, The storm prior to that on December, only delivered inches of snow, an amount that certainly should not have caused the roof to fail as it did Furthermore, the rapid rise in temperature on December allowed for a rapid melt of the snow as evident in the free flow identified in the pictures The prior roof had NO ice damming issues or leak what so everI reported this issue immediately but could not remember who from Roof Works replied nor did I have call back information as it wasn’t anyone I had communicated with before We can go back and forth over pictures, weather, and gutter debris but ultimately that won’t fix the problemI would like for Roof Works perform a thorough inspection of the installation, to include the underlayment, not just a water test, and fix and or replace any discrepancies identified It is my greatest wish to close this complaint and contract with Roof Work ASAP Sincerely,Mr ***

Mr [redacted] we totally support the military In fact, military service in our family dates back to the Civil war when my great great grandfather was in General [redacted] 's army My family is honored by having his diaries of his service in the army during this historic time We have not disrespected anyone in military You state that this issue has been occurring in all seasons but you have never reported an issue with the gutter/fascia drip until January 15, This is over a year since Roof Worx installed your roof and we have been at your property at many times prior to your latest reported issue When Roof Worx initially inspected your gutters for this new issue (around Jan 18th), we saw the gutter guard you installed and how is was pushed under the shingles The method of installation and ice damming that has occurred is the cause of the issues your are having See the attached picture of the gutter guard prior to Roof Worx lowing the GutterAt Roof Worx expense and to get closure of your account, Roof Worx lowered the gutters so you could install the gutter guardsWe have reviewed your pictures and believe your pictures appear to be out of sequenceThe top two pictures showing the gutter with water dripping into the gutters were send to Roof Worx on Feb 8thWeather reports show 11+ inches of snowfall on Feb optimal temperatures to create ice damming The pictures you sent on the 8th are different than the pictures we took the same day when we inspected the gutter and saw all the ice damming The picture on the lower right showing the drip was was sent to Roof Worx on Feb 3rd Our inspection on Feb 8th still showed ice in the gutters and roof Please review the attached pictures showing the text message between you and Roof Worx where you texted these pictures Roof Worx has always worked with you to resolve all of your issues but every time we resolve one issue you bring up a new issue Then when Roof Worx addresses the issues, you continue to not pay your bill We strive for customer satisfaction, Roof Worx would be glad to meet you at your home one more time to water test the area and possible remove and replace shingles at that valley/gutter intersection with your approval to determine where the issue may be coming from If this is acceptable, please let us know and we will schedule a mutually agreeable time

Roof Worx was contracted to install the Roof and Gutters only. The contract authorizes Roof Worx to start work and expend money to progress the work. Roof Worx is requesting to be paid for the work that was completed prior to cancelling the contract. Roof Worx pulled a building... permit, performed inspections, and supplemented the insurance company for items that were missed on the statement of loss.Roof Worx informed the client that they were in their right to cancel the contract and informed them that per the contract, the client agreed to that in the event they canceled the contract, the client per the contract agrees to pay Roof Worx for the work completed on a time and material basis. Roof Worx did significant work to get the project ready for installation which required getting insurance supplements approved. Roof Worx does not control insurance companies and must get approval from the insurance company prior to doing any work. We do this to protect the client so that they do not have any unexpected additions to the price of the project. In this case, Roof Worx had to supplement for re-decking the roof with new OSB to meet current building code, change a low slope roof to modified to meet code, and double felt a section of the roof to meet current code. The approved supplements increased the claim $3,483.Roof Worx left multiple voice mails for the assigned adjuster trying to working through the supplement. Finally, after the client talked to the insurance company, a new adjuster was assigned since the old adjuster was not responding. The client sent us the name and contact for the new adjuster on 8/16. This new adjuster reviewed the supplement quickly and approved the supplements on 8/17. Once Roof Worx received approval, we called the client to schedule the installation at which point the client said she needed to discuss it with her husband. Once the husband called back, he said that they wanted to cancel and Roof Worx informed the client about the cancellation terms in the contract. Roof Worx emailed the cancellation invoice to the clients the same day we were verbally told that they wanted to cancel. Roof Worx never received a response to that email or two other [redacted] letters other than this BBB complaint. The clients statement that the "money was there" is inaccurate. The money that the client had was for the ACV amount on the original statement of loss and did NOT include the approved supplements. If Roof Worx proceeded with the work without supplement approval, the client would not receive this $3483 supplement and the statement of loss for the roof repairs would have been short $3483. So the money was not there to complete the roof to meet current building code. Had Roof Worx not received approval for the supplements for the insurance company, the Client may have been liable for the additional $3,483 to bring the repairs up to current building code.It is not Roof Worx intent to harass anyone. Our intent with the emails and [redacted] letters was to get paid for our work. The client had never responded to the cancelation notices which is why multiple letters were sent. Roof Worx is expecting full payment of $1548.

Complaint: [redacted] I am rejecting this response because:Thank you for providing the additional information that you haveThe charges are making more sense nowThe contract we signed with Roof Worx (with [redacted] ) did not reflect any of the Overhead & Profit charges ( [redacted] )My husband and I, being unaware of this and not knowing it would be added onto our final invoice, were dumbfounded by this additional amountThis is because, from the beginning, we were told that the amount on the contract would be the amount that would be due upon completion of the roof work with the exception of the roofers finding a rotted board under the existing shingles that needed to be replaced, in which case Roof Worx would advise the insurance company for a supplement. After my conversations today with USAA (my insurance company) and Justin from Roof Worx, I am almost certain we have just about everything cleared upUSAA has sent the remaining claim payment to me and my husband; and we are ready to send the remaining balance to Roof Worx tomorrowBut first I will need information on my guttersYou stated previously that “Roof Worx installed a factory finished gutter/downspout which is a much better finish that a painted gutter and the factory finish has a year warranty (see AMC warranty details for specifics)”Can you please provide me an invoice or warranty details on this because I have no idea what type of gutters were installedThank you Sincerely, [redacted]

Roof Worx typically do not register warranties until the account is paid in full. However, I have registered the GAF Silver Pledge Warranty for your roof so you can register for your GAF Roof for Troops rebate (see attached)You should receive the warranty from GAF in a couple of weeks. The GAF Silver Pledge Warranty is a premium warranty by GAF includes a 50yr non prorated material warranty and a 10yr workmanship warranty (see the warranty for complete details at ***. While they do not list the Silver Pledge in the rebate form, you will be able to register for the rebate with this warranty. GAF added this upgraded warranty last year and have not updated there rebate form.Providing a material and labor invoice is not a valid request because this is not a time and material contract. That's like asking a restaurant to provide an invoice for the labor to cook the meal and another line for the cost of the food. The contract was to complete insurance restoration work that was detailed in the statement of loss. The work that was completed was highlighted in the statement of loss that was sent to you on 12/11/17. The statement of loss itemize the items that are included in the Final Invoice. The Final Invoice was based on the Individual line items that were completed and are summarized below.Roofing item *** (see page 8)Less Rain Cap -*** (see page 8)Vent Supplement *** (see pages and 10)Gutters *** (see page and )Painting Gutters *** (gutters/downspouts have a factory finish see above)Overhead and Profit *** (see page or 16)Total Invoice ***Vent Credit -***Revised Total ***With the deposited amount of *** from the homeowner and the $Roof Worx Rebate allowance the balance due to Roof Worx is ***.I have attached a itemized list showing only the items highlighted on the statement of loss. This itemized list is more than has been invoiced to you and totals $12,110.96. This difference is in the calculation of O&P and tax (mostly tax). On your invoice we manually calculated the O&P vs an automatic calculation in this itemized list. Roof Worx is not asking to add these differences to the invoice. This itemized list only listed vents and totalsLine Item Total *** (only vents and is the total on top of page 3)O&P (origin amt) *** (see page or from the highlighted statement of loss)Vent Credit *** (we credited one vent at *** on the final invoice but the itemized list price was ***. I am sorry you are having trouble with our billing and understanding why your invoice increasedWe have had numerous email and phone conversations about your account that appear to not have answered your question. As you know, your roof replacement was a result of a property loss insurance claim
from hail damage to your property. Since it was an insurance claim, we worked with your insurance company on the statement of loss to complete the roof and gutter repairs for the items in this statement. The statement of loss itemizes all the items for the roof and gutters. When Roof Worx completed the work, we sent your insurance company an invoice based on their statement of loss plus supplements (gutters). The email dated 12/11/from our accountant to you provide a revised statement of loss from your insurance company that Roof Worx highlighted all the items that Roof Worx work completed. As per our contract, "Upon completion of work, a Final Invoice will be sent to the customer and for insurance work, an additional invoice is sent to the client's insurance carrier. The final invoice amount will include the original RCV amount plus any unforeseen conditions and paid as incurred items (i.epermit). For insurance work, the amount will include any supplements, for additional work done that was not included on the initial insurance claim, such as permit fees, taxes, O&P and code required upgrades. As a result, the balance due figure may be subject to change." The above statement is from the contract just below the dollar amounts. The highlighted items (from the 12/11/email - see attached) that we sent to you included all the individual line items completed including the supplement for the ventsIf you review that attachment, you will see all the individual roofing, gutters, and O&P items highlighted. These are all the items associated with roof and gutter work that was completed. Since overhead and profit was included on your claim, Roof Worx included this in the final invoice. Roof Worx is a general contractor and per the contact "Owner/Trustee acknowledges that Roof Worx, LLC is a general contractor and as such will be entitled to 10% overhead and 10% profit, as allowed by Owner/Trustee’s insurance company and state standards." The overhead and profit portion of the invoice was *** as shown in the highlighted statement of loss. The final invoice Roof Worx sent never changed your out of your deductable and is still $5,as shown on your original statement of loss. The deductable is the portion of the insurance loss that you are liable for. There was never a supplement for a building permit (nothing is highlighted for permit in the statement of loss sent to you). There could have been confusion about a supplement for a permit because of the contract language (as shown above). Many times we do have to supplement for permit but did not have to in your case.We did order vents and asked to crew to install them. Attached is my suppliers invoice showing that were ordered. We credited the one vent because we could not verify from our pictures that were installed, so we provided a credit for one vent of ***. We are sorry for this inconvenience. In one email correspondence that we had with the client, they asked about why painting was charge for the gutters since they were not painted. The insurance claim paid for a galvanized gutter/downspout and then painting. Roof Worx installed a factory finished gutter/downspout which is a much better finish that a painted gutter and the factory finish has a year warranty (see AMC warranty details for specifics). The shingle upgrade has nothing to do with these billing questions nor was there a mess up in ordering. The only issue was the salesman gave away a premium roof warrant that provides a 10yr workmanship warranty back by the manufacture and a yr non-prorated material warranty (roofing only). We are not billing for anything other than the items associated with roofing and gutter per the statement of loss. We billed your insurance company for the work we completed so that they would release the deprecation funds to the client as indicated on the statement of loss. The initial contract was written based on the summary lines in the initial statement of loss (see page of the initial statement of loss).Roofing Total ***Gutter Total ***Total Contract ***The Final Invoice was based on the Individual line items that were completed (see the 12/11/email with the highlighted statement of loss).Roofing item ***Less Rain Cap -***Vent Supplement ***Gutters ***Painting Gutters *** (gutters/downspouts have a factory finish see above)Overhead and Profit ***Total Invoice ***Vent Credit -***Revised Total ***I understand the client is active U.Smilitary, a veteran or a retiree. GAF (the roof material manufacture) has a program where they rebate $for qualified individuals. Roof Worx matches GAF rebate with an additional $250. The client will need to register directly GAF for the GAF portion of the rebate (https://www.gafroofsfortroops.com/rebate).With the deposited amount of *** from the homeowner and the $Roof Worx Rebate allowance the balance due to Roof Worx is ***

Roof Worx is not responsible for the gutter leak the Mr [redacted] is claiming and Mr [redacted] needs to maintain his property.  The gutters are full of debris from trees and were full of ice from ice damming when we inspected them.  Roof Worx was hire to replace the roof and gutters and not provide...

maintenance.Mr [redacted]'s roof passed the permit final inspection by a city building official on 1/12/2015.  Mr [redacted] has continued to bring up items after that final inspection that were not contracted for when Roof Worx replaced his roof and gutters.  Roof Worx did a lot of work above and beyond what was in the contract.  For example, Mr [redacted] said that we were to correct a structural issue on the roof.    Nowhere in the contract was there any mention of doing any of this work.  In addition, Mr [redacted] said that we should have replaced some sheets of plywood because some pieces chipped off on the back side of the plywood that can be seen in the attic.  Roof Worx inspected the deck when we removed the old roofing and determined that the surface was nailable.  Mr [redacted] demanded that Roof Worx warrant the decking of his roof and Roof Worx declined because it was preexisting and was NOT replaced by Roof Worx.  Mr [redacted] also said that he wanted all the caulk (that covers exposed nails) re-done with asphalt caulk and covered with roof graduals.  This is way above industry standard practices but Roof Worx complied with Mr [redacted] and re-calked all the exposed nails and put granule on top. After all of that, Mr [redacted] said that the he wanted is gutters lowered because he wanted to add gutter guards and that he told the sales agent that.  Again this was NOT written in the contract and in fact, Mr [redacted] brought this up 12 months after the gutters were installed.  Roof Worx inspected the gutters and identified that Mr [redacted] installed a leaf guard in one section of the gutters and that this leaf guard was back pitched to the roof (i.e. water was pooling and flowing back toward the Roof when it should have been flowing into the gutters).  In addition, that gutter is on the north side and had Ice Damming and were full of debris.  Ice Damming is an environmental issue and is not covered by any warranty.  Even though the roof and gutters were installed over a year ago and the issue was with Ice Damming, Roof Worx lowered the gutters because Mr. [redacted] said that if we did that he would pay the remaining balance  (Please see attached pictures).  Initially, Roof Worx was only to lower the front gutters but while we were there, Mr. Daiz asked us to lower the rear gutters and we complied with that request also.  Mr [redacted] needs to know that ANY work not installed by Roof Worx is NOT warranted and may affect the existing warranty.  Since this gutter guard is installed between the shingle and the starter, the manufactures warranty maybe affected also. After lowering the gutter, calling Mr [redacted] about payment, sending multiple demands for payment and sending an intent to lien, Mr [redacted] filed this Revdex.com complaint.   Roof Worx has been more than reasonable trying to resolve any issues.  Mr Daiz is unreasonably withholding payment even when Roof Worx and gone above and beyond what was required of the contract.  Mr [redacted] will shortly receiving a Lien on his property as well as a summons to appear in court as Roof Worx intends to receive all funds due plus all interest and collection costs.

Initial Business Response /* (1000, 18, 2015/10/06) */
[redacted] filed this Revdex.com complaint on 9/2. Roof Worx was not notified until 9/4 about this complaint (which was lost in spam and not seen until 9/9). On 9/3 this issue was resolved with [redacted].
The billing issue was a misunderstanding...

of the insurance billing process and how insurance claims amounts change from the original claim to the final claim. The insurance claim process and invoice amounts were discussed and resolved with [redacted] on the 9/3. [redacted] must have thought that our response was because of the Revdex.com complaint but did not mention the complaint. Had she mentioned the Revdex.com complaint, I would have asked her to removed it since it was already resolved.
When I found out about the Revdex.com complaint, I asked [redacted] to ask to have the complaint removed since we had already resolved the misunderstanding.
Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (2000, 21, 2015/10/12) */
(The consumer indicated he/she ACCEPTED the response from the business.)
Business made every effort to resolve the complaint in a timely manner. The complaint was resolved on 9/3/15 within 24 hours of filing the complaint.

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.

Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because:  I called the insurance company and they have on file [redacted] tried contacting [redacted] 5 times and he didn't respond I was the one contacting insurance adjuster.  [redacted] did tell me he was sorry for slacking on the job.  They recommend them because they give free estimates.again [redacted] said they do all the work not just the roof.
Sincerely,
[redacted]

Mr. [redacted] we totally support the military.  In fact, military service in our family dates back to the Civil war when my great great grandfather was in General [redacted]'s army.  My family is honored by having his diaries of his service in the army during this historic time.   We have not disrespected anyone in military.   You state that this issue has been occurring in all seasons but you have never reported an issue with the gutter/fascia drip until January 15, 2016.  This is over a year since Roof Worx installed your roof and we have been at your property at many times prior to your latest reported issue.  When Roof Worx initially inspected your gutters for this new issue (around Jan 18th), we saw the gutter guard you installed and how is was pushed under the shingles.  The method of installation and ice damming that has occurred is the cause of the issues your are having.  See the attached picture of the gutter guard prior to Roof Worx lowing the Gutter. At Roof Worx expense and to get closure of your account, Roof Worx lowered the gutters so you could install the gutter guards. We have reviewed your pictures and believe your pictures appear to be out of sequence. The top two pictures showing the gutter with water dripping into the gutters were send to Roof Worx on Feb 8th. Weather reports show 11+ inches of snowfall on Feb 2 optimal temperatures to create ice damming.  The pictures you sent on the 8th are different than the pictures we took the same day when we inspected the gutter and saw all the ice damming.  The picture on the lower right showing the drip was was sent to Roof Worx on Feb 3rd.  Our inspection on Feb 8th still showed ice in the gutters and roof.  Please review the attached pictures showing the text message between you and Roof Worx where you texted these pictures.  Roof Worx has always worked with you to resolve all of your issues but every time we resolve one issue you bring up a new issue.  Then when Roof Worx addresses the issues, you continue to not pay your bill.  We strive for customer satisfaction, Roof Worx would be glad to meet you at your home one more time to water test the area and possible remove and replace shingles at that valley/gutter intersection with your approval to determine where the issue may be coming from.   If this is acceptable, please let us know and we will schedule a mutually agreeable time.

Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because:  The pictures I uploaded on Feb 8 were taken on 19 December, 2015.  The storm prior to that on 15 December, 2015 only delivered .53 inches of snow, an amount that certainly should not have caused the roof to fail as it did.  Furthermore, the rapid rise in temperature on 18 December allowed for a rapid melt of the snow as evident in the free flow identified in the pictures.  The prior roof had NO ice damming issues or leak what so ever. I reported this issue immediately but could not remember who from Roof Works replied nor did I have call back information as it wasn’t anyone I had communicated with before.  We can go back and forth over pictures, weather, and gutter debris but ultimately that won’t fix the problem. I would like for Roof Works perform a thorough inspection of the installation, to include the underlayment, not just a water test, and fix and or replace any discrepancies identified.  It is my greatest wish to close this complaint and contract with Roof Work ASAP.
Sincerely,Mr.
[redacted]

Our contract does in fact state an "approximate date of installation" for our roof; however, [redacted] stated to us that Roof Worx had multiple crews in the area and would be able to get our roof done on the date he wrote on our contract which was also the week that my husband would be off of work. When that date changed, we did not receive a phone call. We had to call [redacted] and ask what the deal was. And yes, Roof Worx had multiple unreturned calls because we were communicating through email at the time. I told my husband that I wanted everything documented because we were not getting any answers and I knew email would provide evidence in cases like this. When asked about the additional costs, your Administrative Assistant responded back with "the amount is correct," or something to that effect. That answer did not satisfy us. When we asked for an itemized invoice and received the insurance estimate, that is not what we were wanting. We would like Roof Worx to provide a material and labor invoice. I do not know what that is so hard for your company to comprehend. Also, as of 26 Jan 18 our warranty for our GAF roof has not been registered. This is the contractor's responsibility. Please explain this. And the warranty we are supposed to be getting, would this be the warranty known as the System Plus Limited Warranty? Roof Worx has us written down as getting a Silver Pledge warranty; I do not read anything about a Silver Pledge anywhere on the GAF website or Roof Worx website.By all means, if you have phone calls and emails to include in your response, please do so. I think those will help my case more than they will help yours. We have been nothing but understanding and patient until Roof Worx added additional costs onto our contract, then returned our check and threatened to turn us over to collections and place a lien on our house.
Sincerely,
[redacted]
