representing Roofing 101, approached my daughter *** to give an estimate to replace the roof on the house. On an email dated April 17, 2019 he offers a rebate, and in person, he offered a $500 rebate for allowing him to put a sign on our front lawn, and also a referral amount for referring my neighbor, and when we signed the contract on May 24, 2019, he gave a us a rebate voucher stipulating that he will give us a $1,000.00, rebate due after job completion. I've been calling and texting him him several times with no response from Mr.. He responded to one of my texts when I told him that I thought he was trying to defraud me. Finally on October 3, 2019 he dropped off a check for $150.00 by the house, I have not cashed this check.. I fully expect this company to fulfill their obligations and send me the complete amount offered in the rebate voucher. My neighbor never got his rebate, nor his referral amounts. Also, on his company's literature, he maintains that he would get the necessary permits to do the job, only to find out that when the inspector came by the house, he didn't have the permit, and had to stop the job, my neighbor found out that he never got a permit to do his roof either. I detect a complete lack of integrity on the part of the owner, not fulfilling his offers while trying to get the job from the customers, and in essence, it's a complete scam on his part. I'm thinking about hiring a roof inspector just to make sure that he did in fact put the shingles that we and the insurance company paid for/

Tell us why here..
When we are giving a retail estimate we offer rebates and yard sign rebates, that is true. Once the homeowner decided to use Roofing 101 to replace his roof we explained to him that he could bring his insurance claim paperwork to our meeting so that we could check it for him as free convenience check to make sure he was being covered correctly for the items on his roof. He decided to bring it to the meeting and during that meeting he decided to hire Roofing 101 to compete all of the work being paid for by his insurance company due to the recent hail storm. Once a project becomes an insurance claim project, we no longer offer rebates since the only out of pocket portion for the homeowner is the deductible. We do however, pay referral fees if they refer a customer to us. The neighbor came out while I was inspecting his roof and asked me to look at his roof when I was done. That is not really a referral but I decided to pay him for it anyway.

We completed the roof project and we did pull the permit. I attached a copy of the permit to the door. The code compliance officer did stop us but only because the permit blew off of the window where it was taped up. I quickly emailed the code compliance officer the permit so he could see it and he allowed us to continue. We were only stopped for 10 minutes while I looked for the permit in dropbox. Once the homeowner paid in full I received a message about his referral money owed to him. I sent out a check to his mailing address in fort worth. A few weeks passed and I was informed that he never received the check. I mailed another check to him but before it could get there he began to call me demanding his referral money be delivered to him in person at the project address in san marcos. I was working a large job in boerne at the time so I told him I could drop it off the next day for him and cancel the mailed check. I did drop the referral check off to him for an amount of $150. Once he received the check he began calling me and stating he was not happy. I forwarded him all of the emails that discussed the referral fee to him. No where in there is there a mention of this $1000 rebate. It is also not on the contract, which I uploaded as well.
