Roosevelt Auto Wrecking

Review: On May **, 2013 I purchased an automatic transmission for $950 from Roosevelt Auto Wrecking. It had a Roosevelt Auto Wrecking hallmark which consisted of two yellow lines. They made me pay upfront after which I had to wait for over four hours for the transmission to be removed from the wrecked car. I finally received the transmission around their closing time. They were rushing me and failed to issue a receipt.7 days later I contacted them to complain that the transmission would jerk when gears are switched. They reassured me that after a hundred miles or so the problem would resolve on its own. I called Roosevelt Auto Wrecking on June [redacted] to inform them that the car had stalled because of the broken transmission. They asked for the broken car to be brought to them to check if the defective transmission was indeed the problem.The car was in Albany at that point and I could bring the car as early as June [redacted] at which point they asked for the receipt. Since I hadnt been given a receipt in the first place, the people at Roosevelt Auto Wrecking became very rude and talked to me in a disrespectful manner. They laughed in my face and claimed that even though they remembered me, they would deny any fact of purchase without a receipt.Prior to this conversation, I was taking some pictures of their business and incidentally our conversation got recorded on my iPhone. In this recording Roosevelt Auto Wrecking owner and managers openly insulted me and called me names for not being able to prove the fact of purchase though it was not my fault that the receipt had not been issued.Desired Settlement: I believe I'm entitled to a full refund.

In response to the claim made by [redacted], he was issued a receipt at 12:45 PM on 4/**/2013 which was a Saturday. The price he was charged was $900 and not as he claims $950. The receipt and a wall poster in the place clearly states that "all parts are warrantied for a period of 30 days" and "If a part is found to be defective during that 30 day period, it will be replaced within a reasonable period of time" also " if no replacement is available during the 30 day period a full refund will be done in form of a check". He had to wait for a few hours because we had to move several cars, and then we had to pull the unit from an accident vehicle which it does not take the same amount of time as when you remove a unit from a vehicle which has not been in an accident, no one has control or any way to tell exactly how long it would take. It is a normal way of doing business to collect from the customer after he/she is s hown the part he/she requested, to avoid doing work unnecessarily, since there has been occasions that the customer asks to get something and after several hours working they leave. As in many other businesses the money is collected after the customer is shown the merchandise he/she request.

He stated that accidentally he recorded the conversation on his Iphone and as it was witnessed by several people he used a set of spy glasses and made a video without telling any one of the conversation been recorded. In that conversation he stated that "he neglected to call us before the warranty was over". We told him over the phone that the warranty was over on May [redacted], 2013. He came on June [redacted]; he stated that because I did not wanted to break the rules for him, we were disrespectful to him. We should give him a full refund regardless of the fact that it had been more than two months after his warranty expired. Also he did not wanted to bring the transmission back since a transmission shop was going to rebuilt it. In short he wanted the money, the transmission, and we get nothing.
